ADAM WAS ROBBED???? Robbed of what? The chance to sing a cheesy coronation song? A weird microphone Idol winner's statue? Adam was NOT robbed. If anything, he escaped by the skin of his teeth and will be better off for it. So all you "Adam was robbed" voters need to step back and look at the bigger picture. Losing was the best thing that ever happened to him.

Adam deserves that title! Kris doesn't end of story. I've seen so many acts (Boyce Avenue, One Republic, John west, Gavin DeGraw and others whow have performed Stripped versions of songs and they do it far better than Kris) that do the stuff that Kris does, with Adam however it's a totally totally different story...

The only reason Adam lost is because the whole gay thing.

huge fan of great singers (like adam lambert)
2009-05-21 11:27:27 ET

kris allen is going to end up like taylor hicks... sinking somewhere and remain unknowned...
i don't care if adam didn't won... cause i'm sure he'll get himself a great record deal and become a great singer like carrie underwood, kelly clarkson and other REAL american idol winners...

Every indicator showed Adam would win. Downloads, on-line polls (many of them), google indicators (Adam googled 3x or more as much as Kris in recent days, 10 times more in recent weeks). The only dead-heat was dial Idol--which tests the busy signal. Very interesting. There would be a couple of reasons Idol Producers would want Kris over Adam: controversy/image, KRis would fade into obscurity without the win (he still may) and Adam clearly will not, "shake things up" and keep Idol interesting. It makes no sense that Adam lost , and in the 8 years of watching this show--this is the worst upset--and the results are not credible. I think AI lost a huge chunk of their audience next season. Viewership will surely decline.

The bigger issue is the obvious and undeniable chasm between the talent of Adam and Kris. ITt is like comparing the talent of Pavarotti to Jimmy Buffet. I think Kris is nice and a decent performer--but there is no comparison. This goes beyond a simple "matter of taste". Simon looked pissed and I hope he does not return. I know I won't be tuning in anymore. This doozy did it for me.

I think you may be on to soemthing Ted. It is beyond plausible reasoning. Sites like Rickey's, while maybe not intentionally, additonally contributed to the homophobic backlash against Adam. Middle America reading online that he might be gay, rumors about rendevous with other men, phots in drag, etc. Was this fair? It was done to damage him and it probabley had an effect. Too much focus on his sexual oreintation. Kris is a joke as the new Idol--sorry. It would have been fine if Adam was not there if the first place. But we see Adam each week push the envelope--then we are stuck with Mr. no-risk Vanilla. Taylor Hicks II. This will be Kris' legacy...tianted win--the Idol who never shoudl have been.

Yes Adam was robbed, but lets change that with the record sales. I just heard that out of the 100 million votes, 38 million came from Arkansas ALONE! That's insane! Kris speaks for one area. Adam speaks for the world!!

IDOL=farse
2009-05-21 12:55:19 ET

If indeed 38 million votes came from AR with it's tiny population--then something is absurdly wrong with the voting system. It is a no-brainer that there are profundly more Adam Lambert fans out there. As expressed above by Ted--look at ITune sales/downlaods, on line polls, and google searches. Absurd. The idiots at Idol should have fixed this the year Taylor Hicks "won". At least Taylor Hicks was a front runner at some point--Kris never really was throughout the competition. Whether this hurts Adam remains to be seen--as far as veiwership--who the hell wants to watch this show now that the outcome clearly reflects nothing to do with real talent. Kris' win cannot even be reduced to a "popualarity" contest since Adam is clearly more popular. It is regional folks using Gizmo 5 devices and dialing incessintly fo the same person over and over. Idol ass producers should have taken this into consideration.

Adam was COMPLETLEYY robbed! he deserved that title; end of story. Kris Allen is going to end up like Dolly Parton; a horriable singer. Kris is boring, country, etc. & Adam was AMAZING every performance he did was to perfection; NONE of his performances were "corny". they were breath taking. his vocal range was a million times better than kris's. so apparently America has absolutly no good taste in music. poor adam should have WON that title, but i guess however you look at it he will deff. become millions of times more famous than kris ever will, so in the long run he DID WIN:) i cant wait to buy his album! fuck all kris allen fans.

ADAM SHOULD HAVE WON! HIM BEING GAY SHOULD HAVE ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING TO DO WITH THE OUTCOME, BUT SADLY THERE ARE JUDGING SUPID ASS PEOPLE OUT THERE, WHO CANT ACCEPT THAT THERE ARE PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT ARE DIFFERENT & EXCITING, & THATS WHAT ADAM WAS EXCITING! THE ONLY REASON I WATCHED AMERICAL IDOL WAS BECAUSE OF AMAZING ADAM. LIKE, WHAT THA FUCK IS WRONG WITH AMERICA?

While i think adam is a really gifted original singer with an amazing voice, Kris to me is the quiet talented winner. I don't think that Kris is inferior to Adam. He is just different. His music will probably appeal to the non-hard core music fans.

I am certain that Kris will have people who like his songs because they are soothing. However Adam will have a huge success with concerts and his album.

The only reason I follow AI this season is ADAM LAMBERT. Anyone can see that ADAM is the talented one and he is so amazing with each and every of his performance. Kris just cannot compare. What's wrong with you America?

Well, with 38 million votes coming from the tiny state of AR--we can't take these results seriously. Why didn't Idol execs fix these voting irregularites before the season? Not only is Kris significantly less talented than Adam...he is also less popular. His fans dialed quickly and must have loads of Gizmo 5 devices. OR the Idol powers that be shammed us. It is unfathomable. Poor Krs is over his head. Sweet, country boy will have to deal with this tainted win. He even knows he is undeserving. His reaction speaks volumes. Very sad outcome for everyone involved--especially Kris. He should expect a huge backlash.

Adam should have won by a long shot. Kris seems like a nice guy who should be playing a piano bar in the Midwest somewhere, and he probably will be before long. I looked forward to Tuesday nights all season just to watch Adams' exciting performances. What a disappointment that he didn't win. I won't be watching AI next season, since the results so obviously don't reward real talent. Having said that, Katherine, your point is well taken. Adam may well be better off without the AI millstone around his neck. Adam reminds me of a sexy vampire, and I'm old enough to be his Mom!

Cher
2009-05-21 14:37:03 ET

Adam has a larger fan base, more downloads, more google searches, more excitment from the entertainemnt industry, magazine covers, significantly better performances and he loses because he has no "hometown". Crapola. Big time. Adam's supposed loss will hurt Kris more than Adam in the long run.

Katherine and Ted, you have summed it all up so well! I thank you for your thoughts and find them so comforting, as well as the other comments coming in so far! I would be feeling so depressed if I felt like I was the only one seeing the truth behind this robbed title for Adam. I am beginning to see this as a blessing in disguise. At least Adam isn't saddled with that horrific song! I heard on the news that over 3/4 of the idol winners have always come out of the bible belt. So go figure! I know as sure as I am breathing, that Adam will go global in his fame and success, surpassing Kris in every way possible. Kris is a nice talented guy, but he just isn't outstanding! Adam is rare and a one of a kind!

Anti-Adam voting (whether it be for misplaced religious views) bore a lesser effect on the result than the disproportionate amount of votes from Arkansas. If you weight the amounts of votes from Arkansas to the number of viewers x average number of votes per viewer (and don't even allow for the fact that not all viewers vote or even that c5% of the votes from Arkansas went to Adam) then add the voting stats from the rest of the country, Adam wins - religious vote or no religious vote.

Kris Allen ...................... American Idol with a disclaimer.

Hmmmm....now let's see....Adam has 'world wide appeal' and Kris has Arkansas appeal. Way to go, America! lol!

2009-05-21 16:14:36 ET

enormous backlash on the way. really not fair to kris. adam should've been the winner and really--based on individual fans--he was! this will hurt kris more than help. he'll never get out from under the "adam should have won--accidental winner" cloud. this will not end up being a career boost, but a career halt for kris. too bad, he seems very sweet.

You all are just a bunch of Kris haters. First of all, out of the 7 previous seasons, what Idol winner has gone on to do ANYTHING??? clarkson and underwood, everyone else that was on idol and has made a name for themselves have been runner-ups/3rd/4th place and so on. So just because Adam didnt win, just means more Kris fans voted than Adam fans. We all know Adam puts on a great show, but thats what it is. He appealed to some, not to all, just like Kris. I just think its funny that everyone I know likes one or the other, not both. I, for one, was not an Adam fan the whole season, he just got on my nerves, from his eyes, to his tongue, to his screeching. But, I will say he is a hell of a performer and there is no doubt he will sell millions. because he lost, will probably make more people go buy his album because they are so pissed, haha.

everybody needs to quit hating kris. i voted for kris because i liked his music better. i like adam to but his style of music isn't what i listen to daily. adam had a better voice but he will still be huge. if adam he would have been pushed into the pop thing since that is what idol is. for the people didn't vote, if you didn't vote you can't be mad because you had a chance to vote and you didn't so that's your vault not kris'

There's a T-Shirt for sale in the American Idol marketplace on their web site. It says: 'Don't Blame Me, I Voted For Danny'... I should get one. I won't, of course, but I should. I didn't vote for Adam or Kris at any point in the season. Do I think people REALLY prefer Kris to Adam? I have no idea. I mean, if you are going by the votes, you kind of have to be forced to entertain that possibility, right? I mean it can't ALL be chalked up to some weird 'conspiracy'. I'm sure there was a percentage of homophobes involved, as well. And sprinkle in a few over-bearing Christian fundamentalists that felt that a vote for a gay man was a vote for Satan. But for whatever reason, this is how it has turned out. A mighty big upset. I do think it is fair to say that Adam thought he had this all sewn up, though. All the high-falutin' photo shoots and articles that came out before the end of the season... it would have been difficult for him not to think he had this right in his back pocket. Just goes to show you, anything is possible.

Krisisawesome and Kendra : For the record, if you go back and read every comment on this page, Nobody has said one unkind hateful thing about Kris. We simply feel Adam is a rare talent, and Kris is more generic. Walk into coffee houses or lounges and you'll find more Kris's. That's not hateful, just a fact! Try to find another Adam!

Thanks, King H. : ) And then: Kara singing. What a freak-show. Not that her voice is necessarily 'bad'. Just that she is a nausea-inducing air-head with an agenda. Even during what should be 'normal conversation', she appears to be gnawing on the inside of her own cheeks. I've seen chipmunks with less of a speech impediment. And the way she tries to make her point seem so much more superior to anyone else on the judges panel. Why, oh WHY do we have to endure another season with this convulsive and manic surd?

Didn't think that was going to happen last night!!! I was for Adam cause I just didn't like the songs Kris sang from the beginning if the show. I hardly watched all the performances.

Kris won off of Anti-Adam votes. Shame for him because he will be living in Adam's shadow and will always be compared to Adam. We all know what that kind of comparison looks like...
Kris may be a star in America for a little while, but I think Adam will have an impact on the world; he already has SO many international fans.

2009-05-21 21:24:25 ET

I don't think Adam was robbed because he was basically saved from singing kara's song and I know he willl get a record deal anyway. When I heard them singing no boundaries I thought it would have sounded way better than kris and adam's version combined if Danny had sung it becuase it was kind of a Danny-ish type song. You could tell when they announced it that Kris was surprised...

TLC
2009-05-21 21:28:49 ET

Sarah... You don't know that for sure. Maybe Kris will become more popular then Adam will be. There are a lot of people out there that like the kind of songs that Kris sings. We all have different taste in music so you can't say all that. If there was a concert of Adam or Kris I would definetly go to Adam's because I prefer his style of music but I'm sure Kris would get alot of people coming to his because there are people that like that song mellow type of music.

what?"adam is robbed?"..kris allen deserves to be the american idol winner.. he can sing better than adam, adam is more like a rockstar voice the one with a bit of screaming but still for me kris allen can sing all types of songs"all types of songs".. im so happy and proud that kris allen made it to be the american idol.. for those who think that adam was robbed well you can do nothing about it coz the whole american people voted for kris allen to be the winner.. and when kris allen sang the song no boundaries it really fit his voice i really like it and definitely i love it!

anyway allen and lambert will both have their own album in nearly future just like happened on season 7 with cook and archuleta they both went so popular it's just that kris allen has the title of american idol winner. but i like more kris allen, everyone of us has our onr likes and dislikes in music.

Adam was definitely robbed.. i have nothing against Kris but common.... did you hear them when they sing we are the champions? you can really see the difference... the problem with the voters is that they are more after of the personality and not the talent... but off course ill bet.... Adam will be more succesfull in this career... obviously!

Honestly adam was robbed he deserved it more than kris... well kris has a nice voice, he is a "light artist", but WTF adam deserved to win! Is kris awesome?? A star?? A great vocalist?? We all know that he isnt! Adam was perfect on the whole season, as many others I only watched the show to see adam! GO ADAM WE LOVE U! THE BEST CONTESTANT EVEEER! TRUE AMERICAN IDOOL! YEAAAAH!!!

2009-05-22 00:47:06 ET

Yes, Kris is "Idol-lite". It should have been an Adam/Danny finale and that way, I don't think as many people would have felt cheated if Adam lost, or if Danny lost for that matter. More even competition. And I don't think Danny had the "Computerized dialing operation" that Kris' fans had. But, it is what it is and we are stuck with him. None of us have to buy his CD or go to the concert. I know I won't buy them--but I will buy Adam's and Danny's and Allison's--and my plans to go the the Idol concert this year are dashed--I've gone the past three years, but can't seem to wrap my bain around having Kris be the showcase feature. Sorry Kris--just seems weird and wrong to me :(

Every time the camera cut to Kris and Adam together, it was obvious they share a genuine bond of friendship and affection built on mutual respect and support for one another. What better way to send this message to both fan bases than with their duet of "We Are The Champions"!?! ..... Because there were no losers last night.... I only saw TWO CHAMPIONS!

As Cantiello said: glam gay 80's rocker with heavy makeup vs. good looking guy next door with beauty queen wife. Isn't it a shock who won?

I've never seen such vitriol. They are both very talented individuals. If you cannot see that, then it's your loss.

AT&T says the 38 million votes out of Arkansas is completely bunk BTW.

If you missed the last 1/2 hr., you missed what Kris said Adam whispered in his ear when they announced the winner. Danny had his own show after he was sent home. I also got to watch Allison's. Kris and Adam were cute together, high fiving and buddy hugs - it looked like they really meant it when they said they were both there for the music!

When I watched Kris talking in Extra the host asked him what Kris and Adam said to one another at the win and they both said to one another that you deserve this, right? I don't care to watch the other idols like I do Danny and Adam. Like I said further up on this forum but this season wasn't exciting like the other ones were.

People base their vote for an AI winner on a host of reasons: vocal ability, musicianship, entertainment value, likeability, image, back story etc. Adam had an amazing vocal range but many people aren't used to men singing at a high pitch (which is why Adam was often accused of screaming). Nor are some people used to men wearing eyeliner, ear studs and nail polish. The internet stories about Adam's private life didn't help either. He was perceived as the bad boy glam rocker who's a little dangerous and different. Superficial but true. Most AI votes come from the South and Mid West and I suspect Kris was most popular there. Most AI winners have come from the South and Mid West. Adam was a powerful and better singer but Kris was more likeable and a creative and original musician in his own right. Both will do well in the music industry. Adam will have more freedom to produce his own music as runner up to AI and he could become a big rock/pop star in the US and overseas. Incidentally, country music in the US sells more than pop or any other genre of music and Kris will succeed in that market.

ney
2009-05-22 06:35:42 ET

both of them deserves the title. Adam has his own genre and style and so does Kris. No one was robbed or anything close to that. The two Finalist were great artists. Im sure that their fans will support them all the way. And it's not that i don't like Danny, i really do. I really like his rendition of what hurts the most, but i think that the judges are overdoing it. They praise and praise danny because they have already inserted in their minds that whatever danny sings, it will be a great performance, but the truth is most of his songs wasn't really that great. So i really do think that kris was more deserving to be in the finals rather that gokey.

Adam was the only reaon to watch AI, and after the finale I am changing the channel for good. To those that "just like Kris better" I bet you stay longer in elevators because you like the music there too.

However, this will be a creer killer for Kris. If Adam had won I would have bought tour tickets, and probably would have bought both Adam and Kris's albums. Now, I wouldn't put another dime in AI's pocket because they might think I supported this sham. Kris can go suck a lemon as ar as I am concerned. He could sing the best song ever written and I wouldn't buy it! BTW- that song sure isn't "No Boundaries".

Great, everyone is back! Well, after seeing Adam on stage with KISS and Queen, I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS!! I don't care how he managed not to win (yes, not the other way round)! Really, Kris needs the title badly, Adam doesn't. And since they are (maybe more than?) friends, Adam would have been happy to let Kris have the title anyway. (And how CUTE Kris is when he squeezes his sweet wife at the end, even cuter than when he said "Adam deserves this - Sorry, I don't know what to say."). All I hope is that Adam would have his CD released ASAP... Why can't they just skip the stupid tour and go on to make the album?! CK - anywhere I can watch AI Extra on the internet?

ck
2009-05-22 11:36:27 ET

NIE: foxreality.com - but it's not on the website yet - only older interviews with each contestant as the left the show are available. I saw the Extra Finale on TV........ Do you think I voted for Kris cause I think he's so cute? Personally, I find that there's something soooo incredibly attractive about those guys with that bad boy rocker image over "cute". Am I right, Ladies? Since my ex husband's hair went past his waist when he was in his 20's, it's safe to say my vote - if based purely on looks - would have been for Adam.

ck
2009-05-22 13:04:55 ET

karamea: Yeah.... I saw somewhere that Carrie Underwood earned something close to $15 million last year while Kelly Clarkson only a paltry $4.5 million. LOL - But I don't hear either of them played too much on radio stations in my area of the states - and their both Idol winners!

Thanks CK. So I've just got to wait for foxreality to do their job. Don't worry when I said Kris is cute I didn't mean you voted for him because of that. But the problem is, not all of his voters know how good the guy they're voting for is. It's true that many voted for his look. And many voted for whoever isn't Adam. And even more voted because he's from their state. It's unfair to Kris because even now that he has won, it is still not his talent that makes the headline thanks to his voters... But I read something very funny. Kris said in one interview that when he was announced to be the winner, Adam whispered to him something like "Now you have to sing that song." Lol I'm sure he meant to get Kris prepared for it, but I can't help thinking there's something more to Adam's note.

I think I speak for everyone in america when i say this; adam truly should have won, that title; was his. but honestly i think he was way to good for american idol; kris may be a "hero" in arkansas, but adam will by far be a bigger star than kris, and way more successful, so adam lovers, cheer up he basically won he will have albums out that wayy more people will buy over kris's boring less exciting ones. so, in the end it will be like he won:) and kris will just be stuck with the title "the guy that shouldnt of won". he will forever be in adam's shadow, sorry thats just the way it is. adam is so much more talented & usually im more of a rap music type of person, but when i heard adams rockish kind of singing i fell in love with it. (and him considering hes amazingly sexy). lol. but, dont worry guys he will come out to be the american idol in the end, when he becomes a mega star:) so, good luck Adam, illl always be a huge fan of yours, and i am deff. looking forward to your upcoming album, just like everyone els is:) you have alot of supporters out there that will be backing you up through your whole journey.

Whoa! When Alison was eliminated, Kris sat down first (yes, it was "random" but...). When Danny was eliminated, Kris was not in the bottom two. In other words, KRIS BEAT BOTH DANNY AND ADAM LAST WEEK!

That is why Simon warned Adam last week there could be a "ding-dong" (surprise knockout). Simon knew that Kris was in first place against both of them. That was the only indication of how far ahead Kris was.

Fox and the American Idol producers clearly wanted Adam to win. If you have a tape, just look at the production of Adam's Mad World (lighting, fog, costume) vs. Kris's Ain't No Sunshine. At every dramatic moment for Kris, the video was switched to a fully panned out camera, thus minimizing the effect of Kris's arrangement, vocals and connection to the audience. Just watch it--you'll see a huge difference from the first time Kris played the song, with the rear screen doing a closeup of his piano playing, four strings circled around him, 180 rotating pan of the group, dramatic lights. All that was gone in the final! The network wanted Adam to win.

And the judges clearly favored Adam, for weeks. All four of them. Even when he sang out of tune.

Adam wasn't robbed. Some of us were tired of his 1980s glam-rock schtick. Yes, he has incredible range, but the quality of his vocals were at times bordering on screeching. If you listen carefully, he mumbled through "No Boundaries" and was out of tune in several places (and yes, Kris was worse, failing to hit several notes). But Kara acknowledged the song was written out of Kris' range. Was that fair? Um, the judges wanted Adam to win, right?

IndaHam--the order was random. Kris did not lead Adam or Danny that week. WRT favoritism: Perhaps the judges "favored " Adam over Kris because they wanted the person with more talent to win. Ever consider that? MAybe it wasn't favoritism--jsut honesty. Have you seen them perform side by side? Kris pales in comparison. I am so sick of haring people saying that Danny and Adam were pimped for the top spots. Guess what? They are both the best vocalists and maybe the judges didn't wanr to see anothe Ruben or Taylor--but that's what they got. My feeling is that the judges (minus idiot Kara since I don't take her seriously)--namely Simon--recognize talent and wanted Danny, Adam and Allson for the top 3 because all of these artistis posses unique talent and vocals and will have strong music careers. All three are talented in different ways. For Goodness sakes, why does Idol have to be a dialing contest? If your "hometown" or fan-base owns sophisticated computer equipment you become the winner. People were critical of both Danny and Adam for not being humble enough. Give me a break. Mock humility should not help one win this. Good vocals should. It should have been an Adam Danny finale and either of them would have been great and there would be no backlash. End of story.

Recovering Idol Addict: Hmmm.... interesting point.... it never occurred to me before that Kris only won because Arkansas has "sophisticated computer equipment" - while the all rest of us in America are seating here blogging by candlelight or kerosene lamps. Before you flip out on me, I'm just kidding with you.... but it does sound a little absurd, doesn't it?......... Leni: Totally agree with you about that Goth, sexy, vampire look! I was mesmerized by his "Ring of Fire" vocal (my fav of Adam's) in that creepy but good way. With the success of the "Twilight" movie and the buzz about the new one, I would have thought all the tween girls would have "tweenlighter"ed their little fingers off for Adam.

Up front, I have to repeat: I am not now and never was a fan of Kris Allen. BUT, he DID win... and I think it is really rude and a pathetic show of poor sportsmanship to put him down, or try to come up with all manner of supposedly underhanded "reasons" why he won. There are those that think that up to that point, things were 'rigged' in Adam's favor. Personal preference, tallied by the number of votes received is the only reason Kris won. And we will never know what underlying 'secret agenda' may have been in the hearts of certain voters... but the bottom line is that there were more votes for Kris than for Adam. Which actually confirms what I knew all along... that if it had been a Danny/Adam finale, Danny could have just as easily walked away with it. P-R-E-F-E-R-E-N-C-E... it really DOES make a difference!

And for the 'infant set' that have complained (ad nauseum) about Danny Gokey being 'too old'... he is only a year and nine months older than Adam!! It's just that Danny came from a completely different background and lifestyle than Adam did. And Adam is one of those people that will probably always dress and follow a style that is more geared toward a younger generation than his own. Typically, 'rock singers' and 'gender benders' of the entertainmment world tend to lean toward the youngest, most youthful 'style' they can get away with. (And some completely blow it in the process) One big reason for that is because the younger generations are some of the biggest supporters of the music industry. Whenever teenagers are growing up and becoming adults, one area that nearly all of them attempt to 'mark their territory' and define their self-image is in the type of music they choose to listen to. Danny isn't now and never seems to have been part of that crowd. He followed his OWN path. It seems 'nerdy' to some, and his 'style' is more of a laid-back country boy, with a love of family and sprituality, rather than an exotic, fakey image. In fact, he is a lot like Kris in that regard. But Danny's voice, in my opinion is now, and will always be considerably more powerful and interesting than Kris or Adams.

Grim ~ You're back and fiesty as ever! LOL - in a good way, of course. My fav's in the start were - in order: Danny - (love that raspy blues sound), Adam (thrilling stage performance and talented), Allison (again, bluesy rocker), Lil (soul) and get this.... Anoop - yeah, of all things. When I saw him walk into the auditions I thought it was going to be a joke based purely on looks (ok, so I can be as shallow as the next person, I admit it)... but when he opened his mouth and sang, he was pretty good, wouldn't win but deserved a shot. After the 1st show, even while I thought Kris had good vocals, I assumed he would be the 1st to go home based solely on the judging. But as the shows went on I noticed that Simon, week after week, was beating up Lil for not changing up the original to sound more like her own - while never acknowledging that Kris took every song, changed it up to something more current (even if it's not your fav style) and put his own signture sound on it - all the time praising Adam (different and exciting every week, but I still don't know what his style is). I hate Disco, hated the idea of Disco Week even more - but when I heard Kris' version of "She Works Hard For The Money", I thought it a bold choice with brilliant vocals and arrangement - could I actually be a secret disco duck? Judges comments turned into a discussion on "buying underwear in the Ladies Dept." I can't even remember what the others sang that night. But from that moment on, Kris had my vote.

American Idol isn't as much about the title as it was in the first few seasons, now it is more about getting to showcase your talent to the world and usually alot of people from the top 10 get record deals. I don't think that anyone was "robbed" in that sense.

Adam is a love him or hate him artist. AND I LOVE HIM

I'm gutted he didn't win because a) he was infinitely more talented - which just goes to show that AI isnt a talent contest anymore and b) He deserves the spotlight which Kris is in right now.

Although saying that, it seems like most of the articles I have read are all about Adam losing with a line of two mentioning Kris. All the hype is still surrounding Adam so I really think this whole SHOCK win will be detrimental to Kris' career.

And I'm not saying Kris isn't a nice guy but I suspect he's feeling pretty guilty right now.

To Grimoire,

I agree that it is so ridiculous to focus on Danny's supposed advancd "age". Ugh! Since when is 29 old? Maybe if you're 15. All of the Idol top 10, Allison excluded, were in their twenties. It is vocal ability that I focus on and Danny, along with a few others, excelled in this area. Thanks for making a point of mentioning this.

To CK: Most girls would date a bad boy but they'll still marry the guy next door so it's no surprise that Kris won as AI but Adam's concerts will sell out. Adam is exciting but you wouldn't take him home to meet the parents whereas Kris is wholesome and most teen girls and mums adore him (as Paula would say: adorable sexy) LOL :) To aggrieved Adam fans, don't disparage Kris for winning. He had a more dedicated fan base who spent the entire time dialling his number. You should lobby, petition or email AI producers to limit the number of calls per phoneline if you believe the voting system is unfair.

A lot of you are missing the entire point of "American Idol". If this were "American Theatre" or "American Theatrics" then Adam deserved to win 1 million %. The competition is about finding a "mainstream" artist who will appeal to the general public. Adam may have been stronger vocally but it boiled down to image and public appeal. Adam will be just as successful without the win, maybe more so being able to influence his next career move and use his own artistic ability, instead of what American Idol tells him to do. Just look at Chris Daughtry or Jennifer Hudson, losing Idol did not hurt either of them! Would Freddy Mercury have done well on American Idol, probably not!

Recovering Idol Addict: Please accept my apology. It was never my intention to reduce your post, only my feeble attempt to be humorous - at which I obviously failed - at the many explanations as to WHY Adam was robbed. Similarly, my voting for Kris has reduced me (in general opinion of posts) as nothing more than an "anti-gay, sypathetic, pity voting, bible-belt Christian, teenybopper voter living somewhere in Arkansas"..... Which could be the furthest thing from the truth... I should have been satisfied with my own selfknowledge of WHO I am and care less about what others THINK I am. In hindsight, being accused of owning sophisticated equipment, is probably the least offensive comment on Kris Voters that I've heard so far. I AM sorry.

karamea: My point was that if I voted solely on someone's looks, it would have been for Adam. And I assumed with the success of "Twilight", he would have appealed MORE to the tween voter with his Goth Vamp look - handsome, but harmless. What I failed to mention is that while I was originally attracted to my ex's long hair, I married him for all the right reasons....he was and still is a great guy, my best friend. As a teen, my parents insisted on meeting anyone I dated - they had to walk me to and from the door - no honking the horn from the car. I can still hear my Mom's screeching (with all the windows open for everyone to hear) as she first saw him walking up the steps..."Christineeeeee, WHAT (not who) are you going out with tonight???" But it wasn't long before they loved him too! Not for what he looked like, but for who he was - however they did ask him to cut his hair for the wedding. lol....... I AGREE WITH YOU there should be some limit to calling - like DWTS - 5 votes per phone line limit.

I have read a few comments where people have said that Adam fans just didn't get out the vote. I can only say you sure can't vote when all three phone lines are jammed and all you get is a continuous busy signal for hours! Same thing happened to Clay Aiken fans trying to vote for him! Ruben fans had no problem! TO AMERICAN IDOL: If you want your audience back next year, you have got to revamp this voting system!!!! And gizmo devices are nothing but a form of cheating! I downloaded the studio version on this site: http://www.smokinnewmusic.com/ You will find Adam's version too. In BOTH versions the "believe" and "dream" notes in the chorus still sound weird... I'm fully convinced that it's the song's problem now! YES Kris seems more excited going to Disney than winning Idol. In fact winning didn't seem to excit him at all to begin with, which is so "freaking" like him. I like his voice but I love even more his humbleness and modesty. Have you watched the video of the idols on Larry King Live? When Danny said he picked Kris to win, Kris said "YOU JERK!!" Ummm... maybe Jimmy Kimmel should think about doing "I'm fxxking Kris Allen" as a sequel to "I'm fxxking Ben Affleck"... *just a joke, no offence to Kris and his fans*

QuietStorm: I didn't know anything about a gizmo. As I mentioned in the other poll, I was only able to get through the lines about 10x's myself and stopped after an hour or so, and quit. I just looked up the gizmo stuff you mentioned on a Kris web, and yes, information was given. A blogger on that site commented that she didn't think those votes counted anyway and that Adam's site had also pushed using the gizmo and left this link: http://adam-lambert.org/vote/ and yep.... sure enough, it was posted on an Adam's web with detailed instructions on how to use it. Either way, it should a fair vote and not depend on which fan has the stamina to hit "redail" for hours on end.

Nie
2009-05-23 19:52:40 ET

QuietStorm - In fact I think it does make sense that many Adam fans didn't vote. I've read an article saying that people who appreciate Adam's music are not the kind who would vote (and many don't watch AI at all). Despite the fact that the judges always say Adam is current, he is not. (No offence, I'm an Adam fan myself.) People compare him to Freddie Mercury and Elvis Presley, can you see fans of Mercury and Presley picking up the phone and voting for an AI contestant? And do you think the senior fans of Adam would keep dialing after maybe 5 or 6 busy signals? It's true that the lines were all busy in the first two or even three hours, but from what I read on forums, there was no problem getting through in the last hour. Do you know if Kris fans experienced the same? I still can't think of a reason why the people from Arkansas managed to get in so many votes. But if Kris fans can use gizmo, Adam fans can do so too. Personally I won't question the credbility of the votes, because if you listen to Simon's interview with Ryan, he seems really upset that Adam didn't win. But really, what happened happened and it doesn't matter anymore. Kris is talented and deserves to win. And Adam has a bright future ahead even without the AI title. He has won the exposure and that's what it takes to build a career as a solo artist.

ck

NIE: Or.... "I'm going to fxxking DisneyWorld"... I didn't see the Larry King show - Is it on the internet??? - cause I'd really like to see it. I noticed AI hardly showed the other idol contestants in the audience on the night of the final showdown. In the only shot of them that I saw (after Adam's Mad performance) they looked really bored - Danny started to clap slowly as if he just noticed the camera, Anoop followed and Allison just sat there.... no smile, no clapping, nothing... I thought Adam and her were close. I found that very odd. I'll try the song link a little later. Thanks! They've got "little" snippets of the EXTRA on foxreality.com on - but hard to find and not complete episode. Go to SHOWS/VIDEOS/Week Nine. Adam is extremely articulate, while Kris is Kris - Later!

Adam was robbed in a sense that he was the best, and should have gotten the title. Sure, "losing" is probably best for him because he'll have more control over his own career and more opportunities will come to him. But in terms of being the best contestant AI has ever seen, he was indeed robbed. It doesn't matter though. Adam is an Idol and he is a winner who will have a hugely successful career. Congrats to Kris for walking away with the official title. No hard feelings. AI just needs to fix there voting system.

Brings up the Christian vote, brings up Danny's comment on some blog about who he thought would win (claiming that he hasn't a clue what the answer was in the blog). CK - Ryan Seacrest wouldn't be Ryan Seacrest if he was not the biggest trouble maker. I was MAD at him when he made Adam choose side. Not the first time he did this - he did the same to Archuleta last season and I thought it was so childish even though I was and am more a Cook fan. LOL no use asking Paula whether she was singing or lip syncing because everyone knows the answer. I would rather see him ask Simon PLAINLY who he wants to win - just to see if Simon is more faithful to himself or AI. Lol Allison is close to Adam. After the result was announced she was literally "clinging" to him, which I found an unusual thing to do to a "loser" in the competition. But yea they all seemed asleep when Adam finished Mad World. Scott could have been literally sleeping - there was no expression at all on his face. The only other time they were shown was before Adam's third song. They were all standing in front of the camera when Ryan Seacrest was introducing the song and of course promoting the summer tour. But there's one thing I found very strange. When Carrie was singing Home Sweet Home there was that video playing on the screen behind her. I'm not sure if I've missed anything but I would love to know if I'm right about this. I think I saw EVERYONE included in the video EXCEPT Kris. I didn't find it unusual at that time but when I was re-thinking QuietStorm's message, this just popped into my mind. If this is true, then there really is something weird going on!

Beni: Adam seems like a genuine caring person and has an impressive vocal range. He is, however, different from previous AI finalists. Unfortunately many people are not accepting of those differences and voted against Adam accordingly. Bill Rush the TV interviewer observed that half the country would be comfortable inviting Adam into their home but the other half would balk at his eyeliner and nail polish (makeup on a man). Kris agreed that many people were not used to Adam's image etc but should be more accepting and befriend those who are different from us. I read last year that AI was aware of Gizmo devices and they disqualify automated and block votes. According to Rush's contact at Fox, the winning AI margin was big (not even close) so I'm guessing in the range of 10 million votes. ATT has retracted the earlier report that 38 million votes came from Arkansas. IMO, more likely that 38 million votes came from the South, a regional stronghold for Kris. If so, Kris was indeed the popular vote winner. Regardless, the voting system should be revamped to guarantee fairness and transparency: limited votes per phoneline and full disclosure of final results.

CK - I just watched Carrie's performance again on YouTube. Still couldn't get a glimpse of Kris. Of course maybe the camera was too preoccupied with Carrie when he was shown but this is so unlikely considering that he is one of the last two standing... ummmm... NIE: I never really paid attention to the Carrie footage. Just watching it now I THINK I found a small clip of Kris right after that window collapsed behind the judges - coming thru the doors after the audition with his yellow slip being greeted by his parents - I noticed his Mom's blonde hair before him cause his face is sorta covered the spotlight - but it's the same cap and plaid shirt he wore during his audition if you slow mo it (which was never aired until a AFTER the final results.). Followed by Adam waving his slip after his audition..... I never followed any of this stuff, why was Kris' audition never played? He did say in the Extra interview they didn't play a lot of stuff about him. Clearly AI and the judges had some agenda going on, but with all the flip flopping messages, I'm not quite sure what it was.... - they had the all the votes, knew where they came from, who was ahead and by how much, and just before going into the final show Simon said that Kris would win by an upset. Hey... I can take the conspiracy theory one step further - on the night of final results show, in the opening "Rock Star" number ALL the idols were totally dressed in white except Adam.... on a close up his jeans are a really washed out light blue, and he's wearing black boots... It reminded of the Beatles Abbey Road cover... The Paul is "dead" theory. OMG, we are all over-thinking this way, way too much!

Karamea,

It's sort of odd that AT&T, a huge corporation, would initially release this information, unintentionally creating an uproar, then retract their own statement with no further explanation. Very odd indeed. Btw, since we are all being conspiracy theorists, does anyone know where AT&T headquarters is located? You guessed it, Little Rick, AR of course! Call the Warren Commision!

Another important notation is that Kris, as the AI winner, has an incentive package available on ITunes where they will include a song if you pruchase a certain number... a "Package Deal" if you will....3 for the price of 2. Adam does not have this incentive available as the non-winner. Yet, Adam is far ahead yesterday in ITunes sales. He has 17 of the top 33 dowlnoads, Kris with the advatage of being the winner which should give him a huge boost
(media publcity, etc), has 5 of the 33 top downloads. I found this information on another AI site so cannot provide anything more accurate with regard to where their individual songs rank. But I did read tha tAdam has the number 1 Album (all of his AI songs) on Itunes. Adam also has 3+ times the fan pages on his new AI web site than Kris. And until such time Idol changes their voting policy, this is the deal. More fans/more voters does not equate to more votes.

Am I the only one who thinks Kara's sound is just awful? I cannot even listen to it. Both Adam and Kris' versions are sub-par--and it is not their fault! The song is sappy and has terrible lyrics and an awful melody. I think it is unfair to force these singers to record this mess. They should give the song to Megan Joy or Scott to record, lol

KING H : That is some pretty interesting info about ITunes ! It's a sad day when the winner of American Idol has to go immediately to "bargain prices" to boost their music sales! I honestly do feel sorry for Kris! He is a nice guy who will be forever living in Adam's shadow! And it is curious that AT&T releases 38 miilion votes from Arkansas and then retracts it when s--t starts to hit the fan! LOL!

CK - LOL I watched Carrie's performance AGAIN. The first time, I didn't blink but still couldn't see Kris. But I saw Adam and you said Kris appears right before him so I rewinded a bit, and guess what, I SAW KRIS('s mother's hair)!!! Then I watched "So What" again with all my eyes focused on Adam's pants (OMG I felt like a sicko) and yes his pants are blueish. LOL but the difference is as hard to catch as Kris is in the other video. I think I have watched Kris's audition in the audition weeks. If I remember correctly, Simon even asked him to watch some of his [Simon's] videos to learn how to be confident!! Lol we sure are over-thinking... but having read so much on the internet I just can't help doing this :S IMO Simon certainly knows the result beforehand. Remember last season after the performance night he tipped Archuleta to win but on the next day he changed his mind? Then this season he has clearly picked Adam to win from the beginning but suddenly changed his mind! In fact when Simon openly asked people to vote for Adam, it was already a hint that Adam was not leading as much as people assume, if not he wouldn't have needed to do this. And Simon actually predicted an upset BEFORE Tuesday's preformance, which convinces me that the 1 million votes that separate Top 1 and 2 went to Kris. So, no conspiracy after all... case closed. The voting system needs to be improved though...

Wow... there are lots of 'theories' surrounding the voting and the video clip of Carrie that shows everyone but Kris 'going home'(which I haven't reviewed, by the way)... I remember a few years back when I overheard some co-workers discussing the 'idol conspiracy' surrounding the layout of the songs on the top 12 CD. It's produced by the owners of the show, and they seem to magically know in advance, the order in which each contestant will be booted off... as the numbered layout on the CD reflects it precisely, meaning that the winners song is first on the disc, the runner up second, and so on down the line. You should know that I have never seen one of these CD's to make a decision on that myself... but it does smell a bit like fish, when you think about it. HI, CK, TLC, and NIE!!!

HI GRIMOIRE!! Too bad that the "theory" about Carrie's performance is cracked. Kris WAS there, unnoticed though LOL!! I wasn't aware of the CD layout a few years back. Which season was it? But I think, if an order in which the contestants were to be booted off was set, the producers would probably not be as stupid as to arrange the tracks in that same order... Coincidence? Maybe... Or they would have been really stupid...

Nie
2009-05-24 18:27:52 ET

TED - Sorry I didn't make it clear in my post. When I said case closed I meant the Carrie performance case. Of course I have also heard that AT&T was giving out phones and teaching people how to "power text." And some said part of their text messages for Adam were sent to outer space or they couldn't get through Adam's lines etc. These mysteries can never be solved unless there is a super Adam fan from AT&T who come out to tell the truth. But what I think is, the AI producers were not part of this "conspiracy." Simon the AI God clearly wanted Adam to win. And the fact that they are putting Adam's No Boundaries on itunes too shows that they recognize Adam sells more, which is the main concern for a commercial TV show like AI. So there's really just no reason why they would "make" Adam lose. It was down to the mysterious votes.

I am an Adam fan. I think very soon American Idol will have their noses rubbed in Adam's success. Adam will be laughing all the way to the bank. He just may be too busy arranging his Grammys, Tonys and Oscars to come back and guest sing for them. The bright side is he will not be singing about rainbows and Care Bears on his upcoming album.

TED: I am happy to see that you are still here! You were the 5TH comment on this page, and I still go back and read what you had to say because you put it so well! Another thing that doesn't make sense to me, someone said it wasn't even close in votes! How can that be when Adam's phone lines were tied up for hours, seemingly until the very last hour when alot of people probably either had given up thinking the lines are so busy, no need to worry, or gone on to bed! And how can that be when all data, polls, and websites are showing Adam far ahead of Kris in popularity?! If you think about it, it would only take one biased knowledgeable employee working in LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS at AT&T, who wanted their home boy to win and make their state proud, to jam a line or two for an hour or two, to give their home boy a running start! I just can't buy this was a blowout vote when we couldn't even get through to vote, or even text!

Grimoire13

NIE: Supposedly, it happens every season... it just became part of the whole 'conspiracy' a few years back... I think it began with season two. The producers have the contestants perform one song each, to be recorded on the "American Idol: Season (fill in the blank)" album. This is done well in advance of the end of the season, for the purpose of having it completed and available for sale at the end of the show. With rehearsal, editing, mixing, etc, it takes a while to produce, and yet, even though the album is always completed before seasons end, they always seem to have the correct order of elimination on the CD. That's the theory, any road... as I said, I have never looked in to it, but it caused a great deal of controversy, especially after Ruben took the title instead of Clay. And I have to say, Clay was completely robbed. I'm not a fan of his, because he doesn't really sing the kind of music I enjoy... I'm not much for 'crooners'... but WAY outsings anything Ruben could even think to do and Clay was most definitely robbed that year.

QuietStorm: Am I reading this right? You are actually entertaining the idea that the reason Kris won is because the AT&T headquarters are in Arkansas??? You're suggesting that a rogue employee (who must also be a HUGE Kris fan and be willing to lose their job and heaven knows what else) decided to commandeer the phone lines at AT & T in an effort to be sure that a 'good ol' boy' from their home state won this thing? Maybe I am naive... but that seems awfully far-fetched to me. However, you may be right. Maybe the same guy worked for AT & T when Ruben Studdard miraculously croaked his way to the win...

Grimoire - I have no idea how the CDs are produced but I'd just try to find a reason to explain this. (Lol I just like finding reasons to contradict myself even when I'm buying into one thing - required by my academic studies.) Maybe the tracks are recorded, mixed and produced in advance, but they arrange the order of the tracks after the show ends? All they have to do is to burn the CDs and print the CD booklets and these don't take long. I do think that the producers can affect who gets booted off but I'm just thinking, e.g. they arrange the tracks in the order in which the contestants get voted off and people speculate, then why do they do the same again next year? It's not like the order of tracks is more important than the (faked?) credibility of the show. Lol I personally don't care for Ruben and Clay. But I don't see why Fantasia is better than Diana DeGarmo. Simon is STILL very much in love with Fantasia even today.

QS: I doubt AT&T (a world wide corp.) would risk their reputation on some kid from Arkansas., but anything IS possible. Found this on a blog about CA not supporting Adam............."To anyone out there who thinks at California should have rallied behind Adam. Obviously you don't live here. We live in our cars on bumper to bumper freeways, we have great weather so we are out doing things until late, we have so many stars and musicians living here that it is hard to get worked up over any of them, that is why they choose to live here. In Montecito I don't have to bat an eye twice to have a famous person next to me in a store or drive past. So, a contest like this is not going to mean the same to anyone in CA like it does in the South or other small state where you don't have movies, t.v. shows filming or concerts happening every single day. Hell, a large percentage of Californians in the large cities do not know our neighbors or if we do is it on a "Helllo" basis"...... what a snob, huh? On same site some of C&W voters hated what he did to "Ring of Fire" (My fav) - nobody disrepects Johnny Cash - and C&W isn't just mid-western or south anymore - it's everywhere! I know Rickey said the gay vote was split, but I followed a link about the "blue nail polish" and ended up on a gay site - while it did seem pretty even, I thought it was leaning more towards Kris - as a "cute little pocket idol". Adam: not into 6' divas; he sounded like an extra screeching in "Cats" until your ears bleed; but a lot of comments were in response to... "if you don't vote Adam you're an anti-gay or Christian voter" many were insulted that is was assumed if you're gay, you'll vote for Adam... didn't America think that gays would vote on talent over gay? ....by bashing Christians people were insinuating that gays were immoral or lacking any religious faith? Hard to tell.... Anyway, Adam doesn't get stuck with Kara's "Poster Boy" song or be a Disney Mousketeer - he's already is performing in NYC. I did like his studio version a lot better then the live one.
Hope none of this if offensive to anyone - just passing on what I've come across. I voted for Kris, but I've always said that Adam was one talented guy! I think they're both winners!

A political party with any sort of agenda for their future and the future of their party believes they have something 'tangible' to lose in an election. American Idol is hardly on par with a political race. In fact, I would be hard pressed to come up with a less similar example. And it certainly bears no outcome for 'the masses', other than to put them in a quandry as to which album to buy. And because it's America, they have the option to buy BOTH! I guess if I were to bandy about the whole 'AT & T Employee Tampering Theory of 2009', I would be forced to ask the question: TO WHAT END? I mean, it's not exactly the kind of thing a guy can tell anyone who would care. In spite of the way I feel about her singing, I decided to give it a go... I was five minutes in to watching it when she appeared in a church and started screaming and wailing and trying to pass it off as singing. It was a shame. There are so many truly gifted gospel singers in those old Southern Baptist churches, I was expecting to get a treat from some of the choir singers in the movie. Watch the Bill Rush interview with Kris Allen. His highly placed source in Fox told him that the winning margin was not close. It's likely Kris won most new and casual voters on finale night but Adam has more diehard fans on websites and Facebooks. Certain groups and individuals were casting the competitition as a values test eg, Bill O'Reilly's battle of "good vs. evil" and Danny's pastor enjoining Christians to vote for a believer. Frankly the insertion of values and religion into a talent competition is ridiculous but it's possible that many new voters were motivated by reasons other than vocal talent. DialIdol predicted Kris as the winner and they were never wrong on AI finale night. AI does employ an independent audit of vote counting so it's unlikely the results were rigged. Infact, the producers wanted Adam to win and Kris winning was as much an upset to them as it was to many people. Regardless, Adam will be successful without the title. Voting procedures should be changed to allow for transparency. AI should limit the number of calls per phone line and release the voting figures every week to allay fears of tampering.

Well Said Karamea! I hope there are independent auditors in place that have no agenda of their own, and that have ways of knowing whether phone lines have been tampered with, and that aren't in cahoots with American Idol, willing to change the winner because AI may not have the "balls" to back a gay idol representing America for fear of the conservative and religious fall out! I'm sure there would be groups of people asking sponsors not to back American Idol when they let a "sinful make-up wearing gay man win". As I said before, only a few people will know for sure what went on behind the curtain of voting!

Hi ck, I enjoyed reading your thoughts about the conservative and religious influence on the possible outcomes on American Idol. I have tried to put myself in the shoes of the AI people to see the predicament they would be in should a gay contestant actually hold the title of the American Idol winner. If a movement rises up to protest against AI for allowing a "sinful makeup wearing gay man" [obviously there are those out there that feel this way!] they would start by calling AI's sponsors and tell them they won't buy their products if they don't pull their support for AI. This has happened to other shows, causing them to go down in flames and be taken off the air! On the other hand, if that contestant came in second and doesn't actually hold the title of American Idol, then it is way least likely anyone would raise a ruckus, and AI would still greatly get to profit off of that person. What happened on AI8 is the best possible outcome for AI! And isn't it interesting that the only time people complained they had an exceptionally hard time getting through to vote was when Clay vs Ruben and Adam vs Kris happened! I hate to keep a conspiracy theory going here, but I can see the fear AI execs would face if conflict erupts. Would that fear drive them to cheat and change the outcome? I think the only answer is......MAYBE!

Thanks CK for the links. Billy Bush used "SHE" to refer to Adam -I love that. Even Kris couldn't help but smile... And Jay Leon is just hilarious!! The greatest plan on earth - get married then quit college!! And it is so very posssible that Kris won by a large amount of votes. Suppose the 38-million vote story is true, (which is unconfirmed and suspicious I know,) we're already talking about almost 40% there.

QuietStorm: While we agree that there are people that go to absurd lengths to do strange things in an effort to 'bend their will', I guess I just think that is an awfully difficult risk to pull off, considering the 'high profile' of the show and of AT & T's involvment in it. And I would agree with you that a person (or persons) may not need a 'sensible reason' in order to enjoy the feeling of 'power' they may achieve from doing (and getting away with) it. I guess that of the available conspiracy explanations on this topic, this one could be considered as much as the next. I have to say that I don't think it should be possible for anyone to vote continuously for a solid two hours (and in some cases FOUR hours). I think this skews the numbers much too much. I think that like 'Dancing With The Stars' there should be a limited number of votes permitted per household. I think the voting results would then be remarkably different...

NIE: I was a Diana DiGarmo fan as well. And yes, Fantasia somehow became the judges 'darling'... after doing a great job with 'Summertime'. The one and only song she ever did that I actually enjoyed, because she didn't have an opportunity to scream and she left the arrangement much like the Janis Joplin version. But overall, Diana DiGarmo far and away out-performed Fantasia with her superior vocal talent. I was also a Carly Smithson fan... she overdid a few songs, but mostly I really enjoyed her performances. Michael Johns... is a flat out hunk. But to be honest, I felt he was often quite weak vocally. He fell out of favor with me after a few weeks. But I was like many of the ladies.. I still enjoyed looking at him and listening to him speak.. : ) I have to admit.. I don't even recall Tatiana...

CK: No harm no foul... if you want the truth, as much as I like Danny and love listening to him sing, the videos I have seen of his pastor have me thinking that guy is a complete worm. I don't like anything at all about the structure of the church Danny attends. I don't like the 'faith healing' bee ess and I don't like the fact that this pastor seems to be filthy stinking rich for no good reason. I know that all too often religious people seem to be blind to the 'sins' that church leaders can be capable of, but I honestly feel as though the pastor at the church Danny and his family attend is an utter slimeball.

I think I am going to have to get to the store first. I've got about five or six hours to go. I think I will bring potato salad... because it's easy to make and I can get it done quickly. Now I just need some potatoes... : ) Your place sounds amazing. If you look out my back door, it is a huge woodland... miles and miles of nothing but green trees, rolling hills and blue sky. QuietStorm: I just watched AI for entertainment, so all of you are really into the background information of past seasons. But I have read that Danny was the biggest threat to Adam's winning - and in fact that many of Adam's fans voted for Kris just to get Danny elminated - for the Kradam show. Most Adam fans posts were certain that Adam was the finalist with the million extra vote seperation over Kris - it is possible that Adam fans were over confident of a Adam/Kris finale and didn't end up voting in the numbers expected? Like who ever suspected that Chris Daughtry wouldn't make it to the final two? Who I think is far better off than had he won... I don't think American Idols for the most part are taken all that seriously in "rock" industry anyway. Personally, I think Simon and the judges cost him the win from day one! They never critiqued Adam - only praised him while being really tough on everyone else's changing up their song. "Ring of Fire" and "Mad World" were not original arrangements by Adam - both copies of covers - but either Simon didn't know that or just wasn't saying that. He never described any performance as "cabaret" or "karaoke". At best, in the finale he thought "Mad World" was theatrical because of the long dark coat? Are you kidding me Simon? That was perhaps 100x less theatrical then Adam's first performance, and I thought the vocals much better! He didn't critique Kara's song (probably the only performance that I ever heard one or two notes that were pitchy) but on the entire season. Yet Simon and all the judges, were quick to beat Kris over "No Boundaries" , his personality, his humility - and more or less congratulated him on making it to the finals at all! Yeah, the judges cost Adam the win. But you know... AI is suppose to be the show that gives a singer an opportunity to showcase himself - an opportunity not get anywhere else. I look at it this way, Adam went from a smaller to a much, much bigger stage - Kris got a chance to make a go of it. They're both winners.

ck: The following is Pastor Pruitt's twitter after Danny's surprise elimination: "Everyone who voted Danny Gokey should vote for Kris Allen. We need a believer to represent..." Christians are not a monolithic block as there were many who objected to the insertion of religion into AI contest and criticised the pastor for his intervention. There were others who maintained that Adam's sexuality set a bad example for AI fans, that being gay was incompatible with being a believer (even if Adam was Jewish) and AI winner etc. I've read other antiAdam comments that center on his private life but I'm not going to regurgitate the vitriol. To his credit, Kris has disowned attempts to turn AI into a religious contest and has stated explicitly that it was a music talent show. He has also urged acceptance of innate differences among people. My point was that it's possible many new voters were motivated by reasons other than vocal talent. I still believe Kris was the popular choice given the regional vote, demographics, his more mainstream style of music and his boy next door appeal. Adam and Kris share camaderie, friendship and mutual respect. Like Batman and Robin lol. They set an example to their fans and they are both immensely talented. I respect Adam as a gifted singer and performer but like Kris, his personable charm and his smooth vocal tone which is ideally suited to ballads.

Grimoire, your backyard sounds heavenly! My house sits on a bluff overlooking the lush green Rio Grande valley and beyond that a few miles away are the Sandia Mountains with Sandia Crest in the background. I have a huge goldfish pond [ the size of a swimming pool] with an awesome waterfall, and another smaller pond with waterfall and fish closer to my back portal. It is my garden of Eden! I am beginning to realize I am driving myself crazy trying to understand the final results, so at this point I'm going to have to just "let it go"! I am so very proud of the way Danny, Adam, and Kris have nothing but good things to say about each other and genuinely seem to be good friends. This experience has bonded them together and I hope they stay friends! I think they will! I believe all things happen for a reason, and each one of them are exactly where they need to be to start their career and bright future from this point forward. ck, Grimoire, JC and anybody else out there: I have no idea what your taste in music is, but there is a fantastic band out of Texas by the name of VAST. The lead singer Jon Crosby has a phenomenal voice and writes his own lyrics that are incredible! You can check them out and buy their cd's from YouTube. Listen to their song " Please Don't Take Your Love From Me" or " Desert Garden". All their songs and cd's are fantastic, but those two songs are my personal favorites. How they haven't gone mega famous yet is baffling because they are THAT GOOD! They are on tour right now. I have tickets to go see them when they come here to Albuquerque on June 3rd. Check them out ........just type in VAST on Google or YouTube. Let me know what you think of them!

Well, I've tried to follow "Lost" since it started, but I'm still clueless as to what is going on. Love "Charlie" from Numbers... and with all his data and probability cause/statistical mumbo jumbo, I feel he could figure a way out of this enconomical mess we're in! LOL! I just finished Tudors (yeah... boring, but I really love that stuff, Jane Austen, Pride and Prejuice", usually BBC stuff) - History Channel - While I like CSI, I close my eyes when they do an autopsy! I don't watch any medical shows for that reason! Love "So You Think You Can Dance".

QuietStorm: Love "Please Don't Take Your Love From Me" - it's got a beautifully, haunting type of melody. I listened to a couple of their songs and I like their sound - what genre would this be called? Loved the lyric "Tattoo of Your Name" across my soul..... I see that they were a sound track on Smallville - so someone's been listening to their sound. Funny, I would have never guessed they were from Texas. I'm in a musical rut, these days, but I'm open to anything but hip-hop and rap.... so I appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

Hi ck! Thanks for checking VAST out! They are considered as alternative rock. That particular song " Don't Take Your Love From Me" is hauntingly beautiful! It gets in my head and doesn't leave! The words to that song are so thought provoking! I'm pretty sure the history of the band is on Wikipedia. My favorite bands besides VAST have been groups like Pink Floyd, Moody Blues, Allman Bros. Band, U2, Enigma, Clannad to name a few.

ck
2009-05-26 11:19:45 ET

QuietStorm: Like you, I have a varied taste in music from R&B, Southern Rock, Soul (not Motown), Classical Classical Baroque Rock. Anything that creates a feeling inside - rather than a "sound". I thought VAST's sound was alternative but I wasn't sure... (Stuff like the Thompson Twins in the 80's were considered alternative back then LOL). YES! Allman's, Moodies (I could listen to Justin sing "Forever Autumn" for enternity), Bowie, Skynyrd, Zombies, Bad Co., Santana, early "Poco". I have followed a couple "famous unknowns" like you have VAST. There's that something so special about going to a concert knowing that you "get it" (meaning the music) when so many haven't even heard it yet. I use to see Poco every chance I could, until they over-played "Crazy Love" - which I didn't think represented their earlier style.
Here's another "famous unknown" group I use to follow - the New York Rock and Roll Ensemble - still unknown, but occasionally tour. I think you might enjoy listening to as you sit in your beautifu garden..... (Classical Baroque Rock) - "Beside You" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8faPgp9g5d4 - "Dedication" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYNRxev8f1c (I haven't found any of their more "rock & roll" recordings anywhere yet.)

My life's been a little hectic with responsibilities over the last several years, I haven't had the time to pursue my musical interests. QuietStorm: Another NY R&R - Less baroque -more a jazz/R&B feel - Very "alternative" for late 60's early 70"s with that "haunting" sound and great lyrics... I met this guy who was going to Harvard and after he said what he was studying - all I could say was "Oh... you're going to be a Charlie?" Obvisously he knew what I meant and laughed "Yes"! Yeah, Bad Co. IS rock and roll at it's best! Another underrated, underplayed group - maybe that's why I never get tired of listening to them! I also like Deep Purple and Leslie West.

CK - I don't think Kris would ever slip anything regarding Adam's sexual orientation though I really hope he does. His sexual orientation doesn't affect his singing and is none of our business, yes but come on, human being is an extremely curious species and I have no intention to go against my human nature LOL. I was kind of surprised that Kris would tell how he proposed to his wife, but then I remember Kris is Kris so it's not a surprise after all. It would be such a great honor for Adam to join Queen but honestly I don't think it would be the best for him. What if he fails to fill the shoes? I don't think it would be easy for him to start all over again. The second and third will never be as good as the first and Adam being the new Freddie Mercury would definitely upset part of the Queen fans. I think it would be the best for him to form a band by himself like what Chris Daughtry did. Oh and I agree that the judges cost Adam the win AND ALSO Danny the place in the finale.

Grimoire - LOL Michael Johns is a "flat out hunk"... Ok maybe he is an eye candy but his appearance reminds me of an Australian soccer player whom I dislike, so it was really his husky voice that won me over. I still can't believe that he got voted off after Dream On and Carly after Jesus Christ Superstar!! I loved that performance and also Blackbird and Shadow of Your Smile. As for Fantasia, I thought maybe it was a little trick to reinforce AI's political correctness. Jennifer Hudson's elimination attracted so much backlash including Elton John who said the votes were racist. Having an African American winner was the only way to put an end to those speculations. But personally I wish Jennifer and Fantasia could have swapped their places. Not a Hudson fan but she deserves the win so much more. I had completely forgotten about Tatiana too until she showed up again in the result finale. How seriously shocked Ruben looked when Tatiana rushed on the stage to escape from the two guards. Did he not for a second think it was part of the performance?!

I don't watch Ellen, put I guess she has had every past and present idol on her show last week and this also (Kris today). Found this clip when I looked up to see what he was doing now? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8EQEf0ANuU - Adam and Queen - never! - Well maybe a special guest appearance with the band for a song or two - Queen needs an "Adam" - but I think Adam will be far better on his own.

Nie: Oh....hmmmm AI song sheets have taste??? Please for once I'd like to see what's the total listing of the Idol song list for any given week. And what's "normal" music anyway? Hey, I still miss liturgical music sung it Latin - or the rush from singing Handel's Messiah with a choral group - I listen to Andrea Bocelli - and yet know most every Broadway show tune - My first album??? "The King and I" when I was 7yrs. and I asked for it from Santa. Ho, Ho, Ho! So come on.... share.... what's your "normal taste" ? And where are you sitting, Nie? Hey.... has anyone every seen the 1927 silent film "Metropolis" with a rock soundtrack? If not, it's considered by many to be a masterpiece with state of art graphics for that time, but received horrible reviews in the 20's and failed again with the 80's re-release. But it's kind of a cool, avande garde sci-fi flick with a strong political message esp. for the 20's. It takes place in the future with the rich living above the earth, enjoying their wealth and lifestyle. The poor live underground in a sad and miserable state except for the beautiful, loving Maria's kindness and goodness. It becomes obvious, that the poor will uprise against the rich to bask in the sun, and will follow Maria wherever she leads them. The rich decide to capture Maria, make her an evil robot of her and send the robot back underground with quite a different message to those living there. This soundtrack had numerous artists including Freddy Mercury "Love Kills" -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFpcg4-Ak3o - and Bonnie Tyler "Here She Comes" -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYICtAkv5XA...... Not great, no bad - but I enjoyed it even though I fell asleep reading the sub-titles the first 2x's I tried to watch it. Worth the rental. LOL

CK - Take a look at this: http://www.votefortheworst.com/20090305/spoilers_upcoming_american_idol_8_theme_weeks The song list of the Grand Ole Opry week doesn't look bad. Lol what I meant is, my picks of Idols don't really reflect what I usually listen to. Josh Groban is my all time favorite. And you can imagine that I love the likes of Andrea Bocelli, Sarah Brightman, Russell Watson etc. Now think about Adam Lambert... Popera is my so called "normal taste" for music, so is country but I'm open to anything good. As for Michael Johns's new single - I still love his husky voice, but the song!! It sounds like it can be the next AI coronation song. Everyday I wear my heart on my sleeve? Oh my.... But I'm glad his long waited CD will be out soon! And Ellen had Jorge, Jasmine, Anoop and Lil on her show right after they were eliminated too. So cool! I'm typing this on the other side of the world! I'm currently in Hong Kong, though I'll be on the move soon. Not much local culture here in this place, but you get to see things and people from all over the world from Christina Aguilera, Duffy and Sarah Brightman to Michael Jordan and David Beckham. Nie: There's some very "big" songs and artists on that C&W list! That must of been hard to make a choice. I might of chosen Mandrell's "If Loving You Is Wrong I Don't Want to Be Right" - but wasn't that a "pop" tune crossover? Are you "old" country or "new country"? I love Patsy - but not big on Loretta or Tammy. I think some of that "new" country "kicks butt"! Josh Groban is fabulous! I hadn't heard him sing before his appearance on Ally McBeal - I've caught a few of his specials. Love Sarah Brightman (especially with Antonio Banderas - he is too HOT for words!) Russell Watson - I admit I wasn't familiar with him and had to look him up - wow, what a diversified catalogue of music! I really like the sound of his voice and styling - why haven't I heard of him before??? Opera (in it's true form)... while I can appreciate the artistry and vocal stamina it takes to sing it, I can only listen to it in small doses at a time. Though I've tried, I've never developed an "ear" for jazz in it's purest form. Hong Kong - what an exciting city to live in! Are you on the move a lot due to your studies? I love Carrie, Leann, Martina, Blake Shelton, Trisha Yearwood etc. Lady Antebellum isn't bad too! YES Josh Groban is fabulous!! His first self-titled album was out only after his appearance on Ally McBeal. He's going to appear on Glee!! And he will have two DVDs out soon - one PBS and one two-night concert of Chess in London. Can't wait for it! My admiration for Sarah Brightman is limited to her operatic songs. For me, her more pop styled songs are failed attempts. The same goes to Russell Watson. He had a surgery some years back and since then his voice is never the same again. His pop and jazz songs are not my cup of tea. Btw check out Vittorio Grigolo too. His silky milky (smooth and rich) voice is just so enchanting! Yes you're right, opera is good only in small doses. That is why I prefer popera - less rigid and still keeps the essence of opera. What kind of music do you usually listen to? Rock I guess? At this stage I'm not really on the move a lot, but I grasp every available opportunity to learn more in different countries. But even when it's not about my studies I still love travelling! It brings out all the resourcefulness in you especially when you are having a budget tour lol.

Nie: I was thinking Mandrell for a blues version from Danny. Vittorio's has a great voice (but his looks aren't too shabby either! I caught a clip of him wearing jeans... and oh, what can I say?) Yeah, mostly rock. Some CD's in my car are Allman, Synard, Grand Funk, The Band, Van Morrison, Moodies... but I'm soooo bored, and glad that you and QuietStorm have shared. I found an alternative station yesterday that I've been listening to. I'd listen to C&W, but there are no stations in this area anymore. Classic Rock... same thing over and over. I am going to explore this popera, cause I think I could enjoy it. Have you ever heard of Ciaran Sheehan? He's been in over 1,000 performance of Phantom and Les on Broadway as well as Toronto. He's just performed at Carnegie Hall for St. Pat's and has done several PBS specials. He sings every Sunday at my parish and quite the celebrity in the neighboring area. He's a really nice guy! While I find his voice a little "too operatic" for the simple stuff they sing at Sunday Mass - he brought tears to my eyes when he sang Ave Maria at my Mom's funeral last year. Do you like those Celtic Women/Men? I catch them once in awhile on PBS. Keep the suggestions coming!

CK - Mandrell for Danny - Paula might just say he found a perfect fit from the female department lol! I checked out all of the bands you named. Grand Funk and Van Morrison are really cool! And I even got to pair up a few familiar tunes with the artists so thanks so much for the recommendations. Rock is still an unexplored (or at least under-explored) land for me and maybe it's time for a change. I do like Eagles and a few more current rock artists like Graham Colton and of course David Cook. For Pop/Rock - One Republic. Piano Rock - Keane, Jon McLaughlin (whom I like most among the others). I checked out Ciaran Sheehan and he is GREAT! A perfect voice for Ave Maria! But you are right, it is not the best for Sunday Mass stuff. Yes I have heard the Celtic Women/Men. Great singers but I'm not a fan. I love distinctive voices more and for me, the Celtic singers are all crystal clear voices that are drained of personality. That is also the reason why I'm not a fan of Hayley Westenra. Great singer, fullstop. And I've heard Greg Pritchard's audition too! In fact I found Simon's comment quite accurate. He has an exceptional voice but I don't think it will carry him too far. You know, his voice is like the sound a running train makes when it is pulled to stop at the station... But still I'd prefer him to Susan Boyle. At least he's entertaining lol. Yeah keep sharing music! This is so much fun!

ck
2009-05-28 12:03:51 ET

Nie: You're right about the Celtic Chicks... Susan Boyle did surprise me - I think she will win because of her looks. Did you check out any of the NY R&R Ensemble? I left about 3 links for QS a few posts back: I think you might like "Dedication" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYNRxev8f1c&feature=related - My favs are "Beside You" (wanted the band to play it at my wedding, but they didn't bother to learn it) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8faPgp9g5d4&feature=related and "Field of Joys". Micahel Kamen went on to having a brilliant career writing movie scores and an accomplished maestro while continuing to work with some rock lengends: Floyd, Areosmith, Clapton, Bryan Adams. Life in Hong Kong must be VERY exciting but expensive!

ck- I also like def leppard, hedley, elton john, john mayer and some others. I have a strange variety in taste in music.

ck

I love Def Leppard - and I admire them as a band for waiting until the drummer could return and play with them. I didn't know too much about Hedley, so I checked them out... and they could easily be a new fav now... I really like "Streetfight" and "Johnny Falls"! Great sound! Thanks!!!!!!

Nie
2009-05-28 14:38:35 ET

CK - Susan Boyle did surprise me too! But you're so right that she will win because of her looks. The same happened to Paul Potts a few years ago - his background story and looks won him the title. I just checked out NY R&R Ensemble. "Beside You" is such a sweet and pecfect song for wedding! If I were you, I would have sung it myself if the band didn't bother to learn it! I like "Field of Joys" too! Wonderful melody and lyrics!! For Aerosmith - it's so weird that I love their songs but only when they are covered by other artists... And I love Bryan Adams's Summer of 69'!! Yes Hong Kong is a very exciting city! But it's not so expensive to live here. US$1 = HK$7.8 and a large fries from McDonald's costs HK$10.5 while a (traditional) hambuger costs only HK$7. Even the electronic devices, clothings and concerts tickets for that matter are much cheaper than in many other cities. Living in HK is much cheaper than in LA, NY or any other major European cities. I spent half a year in Norway last year and THAT was expensive!! Didn't even dare to enter McDonald's.

ck
2009-05-28 15:03:48 ET

Nie: I would have thought it more expensive... I live in a semi blue collar town. We're surrounded by some of the wealthiest communties in the country, which is really wierd cause most people assume you gotta be rich in this area. Hardly! Many kids my son goes to school with live in mansions and we've got a little modest cape cod. I stayed here cause of my Mom, but now I am seriously considering moving somewhere else.... not sure yet where.

ck
2009-05-28 16:26:57 ET

JC: Yeah, I figured that - and he's probably better off - like Daughtry and Adam. AI winners are almost like being crowned "Miss America" and you have to represent them... it's a little "hokey" for most serious musicians - also not enough creative freedom....... Nie: I wouldn't have chosen Adam as your fav based on your musical tastes. I'm surprised that QuietStorm hasn't returned yet - madder than a "hurricane" with all the new AT&T buzz about cheating. (Only kidding, QS - but where are you?)

JC
2009-05-28 16:32:51 ET

ck- yeah it's almost like a burden to be crowned winner of any idol show. Alot of people on idol have been successful without winning. I haven't eeven heard of any of the other people on Canadian idol.

ck
2009-05-28 16:34:23 ET

Grim. TLC and QS - where are you??? MIA?

Nie
2009-05-28 17:58:25 ET

CK - I would say food, clothing and even entertainment are cheaper in Hong Kong than most countries in Europe and North America. But when it comes to rents and education, it is hell here! You know HK a small city with a large population and with people from the mainland China flooding in there is really just no more place to live in and hence the high rents. And living here is kind of expensive when you compare it with other Asian countries like South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore and the mainland China. But higher price level comes with higher salary so the problem isn't too serious (for most at least). Do you actually prefer staying in/close to a big city or a small cosy town? Honestly I'm tired of cities but this is so conflicting. How am I going to survive without theatres and cable tv and the latest CD's in a nearby CD store? Lol yes I know, based on my musical taste Danny or Kris are more likely my favorites. But Adam is just so refreshing and distinctive and I'm a fan of mad vocal, so it is not exactly a surprise that he is my favorite. And yes I wonder where the others have gone too. Has Grimoire got her written release and left this blog? CK you will have to "weather the hurricane" lol. I actually remember the lyrics of the song up to the chorus now. What a shame.

ck
2009-05-28 19:25:54 ET

Nie: I love to watch (don't laugh) House Hunters and HH International. So I've seen some of those small flats with $$$$ price tags! That's why I thought everything was expensive. When I was able to afford vacations, I use to always to take an afternoon just to "house hunt" - in case I liked that state enough to move there. I've lived at several homes in NJ, and always end up back here for one reason or another. I had a lot and design plans for my house in PA and backed out due to illness (Lyme) serveral years ago. At the time, I decided it was too far from good doctors and my family. I do prefer country, but after my son goes off on his own, the shoveling, raking and all the extra work that comes with a house will be too much for me. So... I'll probably end up in a condo or something. Where???? I don't know yet. - I'd like Virginia.... but Craig says there are way too many Civil War ghosts living there, so he's not going! LOL (He's a history buff.)

TLC, NIE, CK, QUIETSTORM... Good evening, ladies. Sorry to have disappeared. There is so much to do during the day, I can't get over here... and in the evenings I have been busy with other things... and pretty tired, as well. BUT, I shall make a concerted effort to try to be here a bit more. My take on the AT & T thing... (looks like there just MAY be an 'IdolGate' after all) is that it is an easy rumor to start, but the accusers need to have solid evidence of the tampering, or it will prove to be nothing more than a colossal (and needless) embarrassment for Kris and his camp. American Idol producers need to get a handle on things... this show is becoming nothing but tabloid fodder! Off to bed soon... hope you all have a great night.

ck
2009-05-29 02:45:09 ET

Grim ~ I started to wonder if you were that lady abducted and locked in her trunk? Wasn't that in PA????? So how was DisneyWorld? LOL I think that's were they found her. AT&T admitted that some locals gave out a few phone demos and taught them how to use it. But I think the bigger issue is they also gave them "free" minutes. Read they happend with Underwood and Pickler as well. Maybe David A. Fox put out a statement that they monitor the votes and everything seems to be in order, and they stand firm that Kris is the winner. It's good to have you back!

Nie
2009-05-29 07:36:00 ET

CK - LOL ghosts don't appear in condos do they? I always picture them in mansions, hotel rooms or abandoned factories but I don't think they go to apartments. Or at least that's the case in movies and TV series. Have you watched Ghost Hunters? They made it look pretty real! I prefer small towns too - not exactly country because I'm not sure if I can handle it lol, but small towns where you know who's living nextdoor. I've watched both clips on Rickey's frontpage! I am very much convinced that Adam is aware of the connotation when he answered he likes it on top! He's been cracking lots of sexy jokes lately! And look at Kris's reaction to it - priceless! - as put by Rickey!

Nie
2009-05-29 07:49:28 ET

HELLO GRIM! Nice to have you back. What?! A lady got abducted and then found in DisneyWorld? Is it an advertising strategy of DisneyWorld LOL?! Someone should interview Mickey. From what I read, what upsets Adam fans most is that AT&T taught people from Arkansas to power text while telling the others that it's not acceptable to do such a huge amount of texting at a time. And some texts that they sent were not sent at all according to the bills. But it's true that such ungrounded rumors bring nothing good to Adam but only embarrassment to Kris. And what can be done even if people found evidence to prove the rumors true?! Re-vote? I mean, come on, they are already working on their individual projects, just forget the Idol part! But you know, Nixon resigned after the Watergate incident - so who knows what will happen to this Idolgate?

ck
2009-05-29 11:04:49 ET

Nie: Someone here said they were studying law - I thought it was you (as well as Lit), but I can't find the post. Say if Kris wanted to resign as idol, could he legally because AI claims he is the true winner? Don't they have some contractual agreements going into the show that wouldn't let him out? I ask cause I followed a link that said Kris was giving his idol title to Adam cause he couldn't sleep at nights over the rumors. At the end, it was a hoax! Yeah... I thought it was funny, in a cute way, that Kris started to giggle first at Adam's answer... My son loves Ghost Hunters - he tells me they're everywhere, fields, woods, battlefields. So I guess if you build on or near a battlefield, they could get into your condo! I've watched only a few times and have never seen anything that looked like a ghost.... the scariest part are the hunters eyes when they use those special night lights! That's creepy!

ck
2009-05-29 12:23:36 ET

and yet another nice interview - on the voting controversy -http://www.aceshowbiz.com/news/view/00024591.html

Jesus Christ
2009-05-29 13:07:44 ET

I don't understand why this contorvesy about the voting is such a big deal. I mean, it's really embarrassing Kris and I think it's led by Adam fans, don't they realise that Adam is better off without the title and the Kara song that is actually better suited to Kris? In one of the interviews Adam said "Yes, I'm working on something, but I can't say anything about it..." so really, the title doesn't do much so I think maybe the controversy is to bring media attention to american idol, not like the need to be any more popular.

Nie
2009-05-29 13:35:06 ET

CK - No I'm not the one who studies law so I don't really know. Has Kris mentioned that he wants to give up the title? Oh man... don't do that. Maybe he sees the title as a burden now but he has done nothing wrong so why bother. And I don't think Adam cares for the title either. People should really just drop this and move on... Lol yes I guess there can be ghosts in any buildings built upon battlefields or former cemetery. I actually found it more convincing that there isn't a single ghost on Ghost Hunters! They are only using sounds, moving objects and detection on radio to "show" there is a ghost. Funny how ghosts always respond by making sounds. But somehow it's better than showing me a "real" ghost lol. Not that I think ghost exists anyway but I found their way of hunting ghost more professional ha! And yes their eyes are the scariest thing on the show!

ck
2009-05-29 13:55:12 ET

JC: Agree with you. And I do feel bad for Kris having to defend his win in each interview. But I thought it was a nice interview with both Adam and Kris there. Glad that Adam says it might be nice to do something with Queen, but he'd rather pursue his own personal choices. I am curious what their first CDs will sound like... Original stuff or covers?

JC: I voted for Kris strictly because I felt he chose a song, changed it up and made it a "Kris Allen" tune in his own style, each and every week - However, his type of music it's not what I would normally listen to on the radio and say "WOW"! His 3 originals I've heard on youtube are soooo Kris Allen - okay if you really like that genre - there is a big audience for the sound. But I'm really curious to hear some of Adam's stuff cause I THINK he writes his own songs too. On youtube I found some of his more serious music (The Prayer Duet) very impressive of his vocal talents. Okay... so where are you sitting.... you haven't left any clues..... hmmm if I had to guess.... somewhere like Michigan area? I'm listening to Hedley will doing some laundry! LOL.... Did you hear, Susan Boyle reached her boiling point! She's dropping "F" bombs all over cause the judges now like that 12yr kid.

Well, I guess I can think of worse endings to an abduction. Hahaha.. that's priceless. Now who was it on this board, I read that they said they didn't like Susan Boyle's voice... that they thought her voice had 'no support' ??? Was that you, NIE? We differ here.... I think she sings fantastically. She has a very pure and powerful voice, with an amazing range. She stumbled a bit at the very beginning on her performance of 'Memories'... got past that very quickly and then rocked the house AGAIN. She deserves this win. As a person, she's a bit bonkers... but she deserves the win...

HI CK, GRIMOIRE, NIE, JC, KING H, and everyone! MY MODEM DIED! And talk about the timing! I had just watched the CBS Morning Show when IDOLGATE was breaking! CBS reported a statement from AT&T admitting that a "few" AT&T employees were invited to a Kris voting party so they took a "few" phones with them to hand out, and did show people how to "power" vote. " But it wasn't enough to "throw" the vote". That is their official statement! Remember when they boasted that 38 million votes came from Arkansas alone, and then when they realized that was so disproportionate they quickly retracted that statement.! And so I'll say just one more time. If they're doing that, is it so far fetched to think maybe one of those "few" employees just decided to make sure Adam's phone lines were kept "busy" for a while! OKAY! I"ll leave it alone now! Anyway, I ran to my computer to go online and see what was happening with this breaking news and that is when I discovered my modem had died! I had to wait two days for my internet carrier to send me a new modem. So now I'm glad to be back in touch with all of you!

Kris sucks. Get used to it. Boring tonal inflections among other poor singing qualities. Who cares if he 'changes up' a boring song and makes it a little less boring. He is rather dumb and will amount to nothing; unless he chooses Country music as his genre, in that case he may be popular for 18 months or so. He is boring, stale, uninteresting. Poor twit.

The worst season of Idol ever! There was one worthy contestant, and three that were runner-up status. Yet, the average, everyday guy with limited talent who will go NOWHERE wins! What a world! Adam should have won (most know this) with Danny, Allison, Anoop behind him. You better save your money, Kris.
