Matt - Lot of pent up anger there my friend - let it go - violence is not the answer -was only stating my opinion (that's still allowed, right?) - EVERY contract is breakable so the WWE just had to hold the NBA's you know what to the fire and say "sure we'll move the date, just pay us" - the NBA would have paid the penalty and fees and moving costs and whatever else the WWE had thrown in there and it would have been done - you are right about a few points such as WWE is a show, many athletes are using PED (not just the wrestlers) but if the facility itself would have been unavailable for another reason maybe (just maybe) the WWE would have said "all right, can't be that date at that time in that place ... let's find a solution that works for everyone" - mcmahon is a publicity hound and just took it to this level because he can't see enough of himself in the news - if this were game 7 of the series i'd side with the WWE because let the NBA move their one day event - put moving game 3 of a 7 game series puts in motion moving other games at other venues so in this case I'd side with the NBA (which I'm really not a fan either) - just my opionion - no need for verbal attacks or crude language to make your point - unless you're auditioning for a job on sports radio - i hear there is a colorado springs angle now in play - that might work for all - see how easy it can be - chil man - got plenty of friends who like WWE (I have no idea why) but even a show/spectacle/event like that can be re-scheduled - it's not the end of the WWE world -

I am a fan of the NBA & WWE. Its not a matter of which event is more important. Sure, this is the NBA playoffs and is most likely a crucial game in the series. Yes WWE has a very long history on Monday Night and is always LIVE. Bottom line, WWE holds the cards in this situation and most likely, will make this VERY expensive for the Nuggets organization.

I live in Denver and was able to score tix to BOTH events and now i am waiting to figure out how this will end up. Right now there is talk of moving WWE to Colorado Springs for Monday night, along with a FAT check written to Vince McMahon. And then having WWE return to Denver to do a "house" show on Tuesday. My understanding is that there was already a house show sheduled for Colo Spgs Tuesday, now they would just switch the dates.

This will be a huge disappointment and headache to ticket owners for RAW in Denver, but other than moving NBA game to Tuesday, its probably the best solution.

ok, to the three idiots sayin the nuggets should have home court, you guys are morons, it doesn't matter whether or not the wwe is a circus, fact of the matter is, that by contrtactual obligations denver has no other choice but to let the wwe do the show monday night, it is not World Wrestling Entertainment's fault that they booked a date around playoff season let alone know that Denver was gonna make it that far, its bad business for Denver, if Metallica booked instead of WWE for monday, do they have to give up the venue cuz the Nuggets are playin in the playoff's knowing that Metallica has a written contract to play that venue? hell no, they signed the papers and its a done deal, no act, or entertainment acts for that matter should have to give up a venue just because they're in a playoff, that's why music and sporting events are booked ahead of time, in my opinion WWE has the cotract, they should get the venue, and if anything the Staple's Center in L.A. should take game 4! they dont have anything booked for that night otherwise they would not have offered WWE the venue that night in case Nuggets breached contract and didnt allow WWE to put their show on. It doesn't honestly matter what the situation, a contract is a contract, that's BS if Denver gets away with it

The Denver Nuggets need home court against the Lakers. The WWE is not even real. The NBA finals is as real as it gets. Let me ask the WWE Universe this: If this situation were in Cleveland, I guarantee you LeBron James and the Cavs would hold the vote, not John Cena in his babyface gimmick.

    One's a sport, the other's a joke.

Let the NBA play in the big boy arena, and the WWE at the local playground.

    RC:

Wow, what a shocking revelation! I really thought that wrestling was a true sport! I had no idea the outcomes were pre-determined! In case your sports jock brain couldn't pick up on it, I'm being sarcastic. Nobody here said WWE was a sport. We're just saying that a contract is a contract, and right now the Pepsi Center is in breach of said contract. If you actually knew how the WWE travel schedule works, you'd understand it's not as easy as "just taping it on a Sunday night."

I would say that you were the bully in school that picked on everyone because they "weren't cool." But I'd be giving you too much credit. You're more like the leeches who just ran along with the bullies and did nothing during the fights, save for some post-fight kicks and punches when the other person was already down because you knew full well if they were 100%, they would've beaten your sorry jock ass.

In closing, I'm not saying you have to like wrestling. I've got several friends who aren't wrestling fans, but they understand that it's a form of entertainment and don't ridicule people because they watch it or are part of it. I mean, how would you like it if I trolled some story about one of your favorite "real" sports and blasted your favorite football and baseball players for juicing? Oh wait, you mean to tell me those jocks are on the gas?! Well I'll be damned, I thought they were perfect little angels because they're part of "real" sports that aren't "beneath" anyone.

But go ahead with your diatribes. It's just going to make things sweeter when we wrestling fans have our vindication when it's finally revealed that the NBA is the biggest work of all the "real" sports.

Oh, and btw, some of your beloved athletes are wrestling fans. So when you rail on wrestling fans, you're railing on the guys you cheer for.

Nuggets/Lakers is a championship series of a major North American sports league - The WWE is a circus, it's a show, it's not sports - Stop whinning and tape the "show" on Sunday night - And get the NBA to pay for any extra costs that they may incur because they have to change the date - Sounds like this could have been handled quietly, professionally, behind closed doors without any publicity or media hype but then again ... if Vince "PT Barnum" McMahon is involved, quiet and professional are not going to play a role -

Even though I am a big fan of the Nuggets, I don't think that TV longest running WEEKLY telivison should be re-scheduled. Nuggets also can play at the 5,000,000 other stadiums in the world! Why there out of all places. WE NEED WWE UNIVERSE TO SPEAK UP (like Joao said)

I am a Big fan of Both WWE AND BASKTBALL

But theres no one WWE RAW has to move Because of a Tournament if it was schedulled There it should stay there.
Besides i Wouldn't Miss Ric Flair and Orton for Nothing

Why Can't Nuggets go play at Mcdonalds lol

WWE UNIVERSE SPEAK UP!!! We Need your Help

I agree a contract is a contract and if the WWE had it contracted for that day then they should be allowed to keep it. The nuggets owner should have booked it in anticipation regardless of whether he thought they would make it or not he should have made accommodations well enough in advance to ensure it would be theirs if needed. The WWE should not be bullied into giving up their contract.

  • RaceDriven - 15 years ago

"A contract is a contract", there should be no discussion here, the WWE has the right to the arena plain and simple. Congraduations to the Denver Nuggets on getting into the playoffs, but you now need to find either find a arena to hold the playoffs or the playoffs will have to be on Tuesday.

Keep one thing in mind, you can't put the playoffs and the WWE event on the same day (if that is what anyone is thinking), first the WWE event is live event on television and second that wrestling ring and all equipment takes a while to put up and take down.

Good luck to the arena, but if they cancel the WWE event, they are in trouble unless it says something in the contract.

A contract is a contract, and the Nuggets should be forced to follow it.
(I don't think the Nuggets ownership would allow any players to back out of their contracts...)

The main problem is that the Nuggets owner didn't have the faith in his team to block out potential dates for playoff games. I wonder what the players think of that message...
