  Mathew played Darcy with such sensitivity and humanity that he won me over. Please forgive me Colin!

  I thought Colin Firth was great until I saw Elliott Cowan's performance which really added a new depth to the Darcy character - an edgy passionate man constrained by social expectations and prejudices. Although Colin is a master at the 'smoldering look' - E.C. offered a hundred subtle expressions. And finally of course the WET SHIRT scene in LIA blew the former out of the water !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  I agree, Colin Firth will always be Darcy.

  But Elliot Cowan will always be the perfect Darcy for me: both appropriately & annoyingly haughty in the beginning, and endearingly & enticingly passionate in the end. And he also is "handsome enough to tempt me". And he exhibits an exemplary expertise in acting ability. All in all, he has "bewitched me, body & soul".

  And last but not least: the shirt was really wet, translucent and clingy in "LiA" !!! (lol)

  I thought this would be a runaway...but surprise. For my money, and since you asked, Colin will ALWAYS be Darcy.

  I just can't help myself...It will always be Colin Firth.
