Are you willing to pay more sales tax to get more more police officers on the street?

Yes, public safety is something we should all support.

No to any new tax increases.

Undecided. Crime rates are a concern, but I don't want higher taxes either.

I want more officers, but without higher taxes, even if it means other services have to be cut to pay for them.

Independence voters have an opportunity to increase the safety and security of residents, their property, businesses, parks and neighborhoods by supporting Police Services on August 4th, 2009. As calls for service increase with the city's crime statistics, we simply need more officers to confront and contain the criminal element of our growing community in order to assure and enhance the quality of life for all of us. There are compelling statistics and rationale for the CORE strategies implemented by Independence Police Chief, Tom Dailey and the independent Bershire study supports the need for additional personnel. As the discussion and debate begin over the topic of a sales tax initiative, please take time to get accurate information in order to cast your ballot as an informed and responsible citizen. This tax is needed to provide the level of protection and service our residents deserve.
