Talk about fixing something that isn't broke!

I absolutely DO NOT like the timing of the street lights. They may do fine during the day time hours but if you are like me, doing shopping at night without children and shift work, the lights are a real pain during the evening and night time hours. It feels like you are sitting there for 5 minutes because there isn't any traffic.
I do agree with the other comment-----WHAT was broke? What is the purpose of the change anyway? Do we really have a congestion problem? Have any of the people who made this decision been to a large city? Now those are the places that need longer timed lights-------they actually have traffic.
I guess this is a good way to make more people and delivery drivers speed down the side streets. Watch you pets and backing out of your driveways.
For all these years you knew how long it would take to drive across town, now I avoid the downtown area as much as possible now. Too bad for businesses, I won't be window shopping in the evenings and checking out what is going on in the downtown area.

I absolutely hate it. After trying to get through main street twice recently, I decided to skip mail street on the way to Dillons from now on and use the side streets. What a waste of time and gas. Before It was perfect for driving about 11 mph and not having to stop for any lights. It was a smooth ride. Is the city trying to keep us off main street?

The one at Dillons & Bank corner was to slow for me to get across the streat in my lectrict scooter. I am sure there are several others have found out it was slow. I have not been across it lately.

I hope you change the lights back to the timing before. One had to go a bit slowly through the lights. Now one can rush ahead two blocks and then turn right. Speeding is almost encouraged. The original timing was safer.

when they had the lighting like it was before you could go a certain speed and not have to stop at all its just ridiculous i and many other drivers avoid main street now they need to change it back asap, and at night time they need to have their lights like newtons main street have them flashing yellow so you dont have to sit at the light when thiers no traffic at all

I have noticed a lot more traffic on side street on North and South Maple in the downtown area. Driver's seem to be taking the backroads more than Main Street and they are speeding down the street, some with no concern of other drivers or pedestrians. With summer here there are many children on the streets during the day, and I have seen on a few occasions cars speeding down the street and barely missing a child on a bike or a scooter trying to cross the street. Parents, please urge your children to only cross the street at a stop sign or signal light crossing. I have seen many children crossing the road in the middle of the block and with these drivers here, that could cause for a misfortunate fatal accident. As far as the signal timing is concerned, I am going to have to agree with previous contributors: Bring back the previous timing. You had to drive a little slower down Main Street, but traffic flowed better in my opinion than it does now.

I might agree that it may have needed to be a couple of seconds longer, but not as long as they are now. I have sat at a light that if it would have turned green at the old timing I could have turned left with no waiting. Now I sit through the light so long the next group of cars has time to make it to my light and then I have to wait till they all pass through. We are all waisting more gas sitting too long.

I dont go down mainstreet anymore, too slow. Time it out like Newton and have them flash at non rush hour times. Of course McPherson doesnt have a rush 'hour', its more like 'rush 15 minutes'.

Now with the new timings we do have traffic. People get backed up and now it is hard to make a left hand turn. Way to go city of McPherson. Now we have traffic issues like the cities. Next they will start adding traffic lights on the side streets because they to have gotten busier. I was able to walk 1/2 block and still cross the street before the light changed. CRAZY

i can live with the down town lights who cares don't shop down town any way but why don't you fix the light on maxwell and kansas it switches automatically, fine lots of lights do that but it switches too fast the traffic sensores don't work and i have to stop there several times a day for no cross traffic. DID THE GUY WHO TIMED THE LIGHTS IN MCPHERSON INVEST HEAVILY IN THE BREAK SHOE MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY
