how often does one really think that a retreat center will be used? how many times would it have to be rented out and over how long a period to pay for the expense to build it? all of the drawings resemble what is at the peoria riverfront......which are sitting empty at the moment. this would be a great waste of money to build. i would rather see a boardwalk and have the businesses along second street fix up the backsides of their buildings to look as inviting from the river as they do from second street. maybe they would then draw boating tourists as well as tourists in cars to stop and shop. we should have something different.......start thinking outside of the box.....set some trends....nobody wants to visit a town that has the same things as their own town has. why do people go on vacation or get away for the weekend.....to see something different!
I miss Lisa Burnett as Economic Development director. But I guess the skate park money must have been profitable for her to retire.
