This link deals the price to build a Kindle. The Kindle 2 eBook carries $185.49 in materials and manufacturing costs. I do not think that the DX would be over 200 dollars since it a little bigger but the same under lying materials and manufacturing. I would have seen a 10% increase but I feel that this price (489) is to high. I will wait and see what the price reduction will be for subscribing to one of the newspapers or magazines if they will do that.

Great concept. This is the only way newspapers will remain. I'd buy it if it was a touchscreen device like my iPhone. Keyboards are dead. I believe that Apple will bring something out to crush this.

The whole point of getting a kindle or e-book reader is the e-ink display. Yes, netbooks (or for that matter laptops) are as cheap or cheaper than this price, but I don't want to read for extended periods of time on a computer.

With netbooks and low end laptops at that price point what does the Kindle DX offer at this price. I hope that they will work to lower the price or work with magazines I read to provide a reduction in this inflated price.
