I think I'd rather have the smaller size of my Kindle 2 than the larger screen of the DX. So far, the only thing I've seen that makes me envy the DX is the native PDF reader. And there doesn't seem to be any reason they couldn't make this available to the Kindle 2 as a software upgrade. In fact, I'd gladly accept the Apple model here, and pay ten or twenty bucks for the added functionality.

This is cool, but it's really too big for my uses. I *would* like better pdf viewing on the smaller Kindle, though. Maybe a software update?

Just ordered one off of Amazon for $489! Doesn't have a cover but you can buy one for $50. I don't really like the one for the Kindle 2 so I will wait to see if there is a nicer one.

I just got a kindle 2; great for books, not quite as good for newspapers. I'd much rather have this for reading a newspaper or a book with illustrations. But I'd be scared to carry that kind of large device around in a back pack or brief case - too easy to lean into it and break the screen. If they give a good price on a subsidized kindle with a NY Times subscription, I'll get the big one for home, and keep the small one for books and travel.

Did anyone notice it is out there on amazone for pre-order, right now...
I'd like to know what happens to kindle two buyers who bought in the last 30 days. can we upgrade to the xp? if the prices for the 2 are going down, do we get price protection?

I have the Kindle 2 and I will be the first in line to get this DX. It is what I really wanted since I want it more for the newspapers, magazines, and textbooks. I think the Kindle will still be great for those who just want to read books. Fortunately I have a friend who wants to buy my Kindle 2.
