Good flying weather! We will be returning from daughter #3's college graduation, along with daughters #1 and #2 and a couple of grandbabies.

Our dear baby girl will be baptized on Mother's Day! That is gift enough for me!

The men at our tiny parish always prepare a lovely Mother's Day brunch for after the Divine Liturgy -- then send all the moms home with flowers. :o)

After Mass Sunday morning, we will have about 20 or so people over for our "baby" girl's 3rd birthday party. It's a mini muffin brunch loaded w/food that she & I baked together. We also worked together (as much as she could) making paper flowers & vases w/toilet paper tube vases (covered w/pretty paper, of course) for all the Mommies who will be here...and for my mil which my fil will take home w/him next week when he goes back home.

We're going to bring a picnic to my MIL's because we haven't been to see her since Christmas - a long time especially when the kids are just toddlers.

We'll be attending Mass as a family and participating in the annual May procession honoring The Blessed Mother. I love this tradition!

I asked for perfume as it's been a couple of years since I've had any. However, I got new tires on the van Friday (they were way overdue) and my husband said, "Happy Mother's Day" as he wrote out the check so I'm thinking the perfume is out! Smelling good or safe travel with 6 kids in the van, oh the sacrifices we mom's make. :)

What I am hoping for? Or what I am expecting? Two different things...... I have learned not to expect much, and many Mother's Days I cook, clean, do laundry...even wash windows.... because really, I have not raised my kids right, and I do not feel like I deserve much honor.

I do have a secret hope, deep inside, that they would do something that made me feel special. But frankly, I would be embarrassed if they did!

I also have made no plans for my own mother or my mother-in-law, both of whom live far away. I always feel guilty about that, and never quite sure what to do for them.

I'll get breakfast in bed & a hopefully a relaxing Sunday. We'll be going to Mass Sat. evening - DS#1 is making his First Communion then. Oh, I'm also getting chocolate & a subscription to Faith & Family Magazine!!

Since I don't get to be a Mother's Day recipient yet, I'm hoping that my fiance will be helpful as I prepare brunch for all of the women on his side of the family. Or that he'll at least stay out of the way.

Last year was a wonderful Mother's Day for me, and well all of us.
We took a long hike through Bushkill Falls in PA. This year I would love to go back to the same place... after we hiked we found a nice picnic table where we ate our picnic lunch. This year we have our red Dobie, who we will take along.. I am so excited!! Nothing like a day outdoors with the family and puppy!!!
Happy Mother's Day to you all!!

Flowers are nice, but not necessary. My husband made breakfast in bed for his mom, so he and the kids do that for me. I really don't care for it. I would rather be sitting with my family.

I absolutely love receiving books.

I love receiving cards that my kids make for me.

I don't cook on Mother's day. I have a rule about no laundry on Sundays, so I don't have to worry about that.

I do like to chose what I want to do that day. Most of the time I like to spend it with my mom, but since I have five sick kids, I don't know if that will happen this year.

Oh! I love to get those $3 orchid corsages for Mother's day. And, for once, I wish my husband and kids would enroll me in the Mother's day novena at our church. LOL

Hi put flowers because they are lagging and I do want them and LOVE flowers, but I also want a day off. Too much to ask???? My family does not know it, but I plan to clean house all day on Saturday and catch up on all the laundry so that on Sunday I can just be quiet. I even have an idea that I might make some quiche Saturday night and all my family has to do is pop in the oven on Sunday. Far fetched???? Could happen...but then I really need to get off the computer now and work towards all that :)

I would love solitude! I know that sounds awful, but a peaceful, quiet day with no clamor or demands would be blissful.

A massage would be nice too :)

I was feeling sorry for myself because last year at this time we were celebrating the baptism of our youngest child and this year my husband is in Afghanistan. Through reading some of these comments I remember that we will go to mass as a family, and although I may spend the majority of mass in the cry room, my two oldest boys will be serving, and Father always has a special blessing for mothers. I think I will pick up Chinese food for us after mass and have the children pray a family rosary with me in the evening with the special intention of their father's safe return. I am so blessed to have my faith and my family and my parish family! Happy Mothers Day!

We are having our baby son baptized on Sunday. He's baby #6 so I'm sure it will be a great day. Skip the candies and flowers for me!

We're celebrating Mother's Day Sat. night with a steak cookout for my mom and me....I got the steaks and I think my husband and the older kids will take care of the side dishes.

Sunday after mass we'll spend packing the rest of the day because we leave bright and early Monday morning for a 13 hour drive to the beach in NC. Packing all the stuff plus breakfast and lunch for 12 of us in two vehicles (my dad travels with us) will take up all of my Mother's Day! But that's okay, because a day later, we'll be sitting on the beach.....oh, I can't wait!

This is what I have *requested*. and my dh agreed, sooooo....
After attending Mass as a family, we will come home and eat a quick brunch. Then off to the local dam for a nature walk and to watch the eagles. When we get home, some quiet time for me, with a foot rub and back rub, ending in a nap. Ahhh. Dinner will be scallops in butter sauce and steamed shrimp from our local supermarket, over linguine noodles. Prepared by my own dh, a great cook. Maybe some time to sketch in my nature journal at the park or at home when we return. Nothing expensive, but just what I want!
For years, my dh was gone on every Mother's Day, as he raced jet-skis professionally. Until about 5-6 years ago, I usually went to my mother's house. Well, she has moved to Texas now. Both my mother and my mother-in-law have terminal illnesses, so I will also be calling my mother, and we will stop by my mother-in-law's house at some time during the day. This may be the last year we both have mothers. Oh, that sounds so sad, but life is a cycle! Two years, I have spent part of the month of May grieving for lost babies. Last Mother's Day I was starting a m/c and didn't know yet. This mother's day, I have a new baby girl growing inside and hope for the future! To the moms who are sad this mother's day, I understand!! I have been there! Some years will be good, some great. Some may stink. One thing I am always grateful for is the Church. Since our conversion in 2006, our lives have changed so much that hope and faith are no longer just words, they are how we live each day. Happy Mother's Day to all of you!
If each of us were to pray one decade of the rosary on Mother's Day, the fifth Glorious mystery, for example, we could lift the others in prayer. Not a novena, but a sincere request to our Mother for each other. Anyone want to do this? I will pray for all of you, and mothers everywhere, tomorrow.

This mother's day I am hoping I will have my own mother's day next year ...
