Thank you Alabama House of Representatives for ensuring the moral purity of our state while completely ignoring the financial solvency of Jefferson County. Y'all need a raise.
such a shame. not only we do not allow gays the right of marriage, but we rub it in their faces. i am embarrased by the selfishness.

that is GREAT!
the link above that is... not the article
Im embarassed that I live in this state. The people who voted for this are obviously small minded and small brained. Anyone saying they believe in what America stands for, equal rights should not be saying this crap. Its shameful.
We are a country founded on God. But, somewhere through the years we began to dismiss his teachings because they didn't suit our lifestyles. I'm glad that there are still some people left in this country with morals and aren't afraid to stand up for them!
I am proud a young person raised in today's society still has the courage to stand by her convictions and teachings even though they may not be "Politically Correct" and could cost her the crown. I think she won the respect of millions.
I think that it is great that we live in a part of the country that still believes that marriage is between a man and a woman and our state government has the guts to stand up and voice our beliefs. Bravo to the Alabama House for this brave statement.
I am proud of her for using her freedon of speech to convey her personal convictions on National TV in spite of what it could have cost her and presenting it in a friendly and courteous and respectful manner. America has lost this type of Strong willed, responsible, dedicated and well balanced people to the nonsense called Political Correctness. I also applaud Alabama for supporting it.
I agree, we have more pressing issues in Alabama other than how Miss California answered her question. Also, her response was not the reason she lost the pageant. I was able to watch the entire telecast online. She was second in swimsuit and third in evening gown. I have no problem with her answer, but it was worded poorly and she rambled throughout her answer. The winner was asked about the Government Bailout of large corporations. She answered it well and made total sense. Another contestant was asked about 40 million in aid to Afghanistan to ensure fair elections. I did not agree with her answer, but answer was well thought out and presented well. Based on the delivery of the question Miss California is lucky she was first runner up.
So this is what the Alabama legislature does for a living? Chiming in, in support of a convoluted answer during abeauty pageant where no one will even remember the name of the poor woman how won? UNBELIEVABLE. And these comments here that call her re-iteration of the same nonsensical double-talk that people have been using all along to deny equal rights to every citizen? What's "brave" about that? What's brave about denying people, from now, when the civil rights of Gay americans will be universally recognized by REAL Americans, with REAL values...Sheesh.
Such a lot of bigotry and time wasted by legislators. These "representatives" don't represent all Alabamians. Stop the hate and remember EQUAL RIGHTS. Does "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" ring any bells?
Hey, this is Alabama. What did you think they'd do?! Most are still living as if it's 1865 except instead of toting rifles they're toting semi-assualt and assualt weapons. Gotta protect themselves from those really scary gays. I'd leave if only I could.
