Do You Think Pirate Bay Will Survive?

Let me guess Biff, you work in the music industry and just lost 10% of your paycheck to "illegal downloading"? No, I'm sorry. You work in the film industry and just went on strike because you don't make enough with your high school diploma. When will you learn that you cannot stop progress? It is the corrupt lawmakers, biased judges, and criminal leaders of such organizations as the RIAA that should be behind bars. The harder you try the more we dig in. It's a good thing your generation is on its way out and mine is going to determine the future course of history. The Pirate Bay may fall but 10 will rise in its place. The Internet was created as a free and open forum of exchange and so shall it remain. Good luck in the future.

Some people claim that The Pirate Bay doesn't actually get involved in the illegal downloading of intellectual property -- they are just the "in betweeners" or facilitators. Seems that is what a pimp is and the courts now understand how to deal with them.

Let's hope the appeals process is quick and these guys are put behind bars where they belong.

Not even close. uTorrent and Transmission are just a tools, they don't create anything and they don't have any intent. It's like blaming the car for smuggling drugs.

And much like drugs, the parties to blame are similar: drug dealers and buyers. Dealers would be the people ripping and listing/uploading the illegal media and the buyers would be the people downloading them. The tricky thing with torrents is that when downloading you are also uploading, making you sort of a aftermarket seller.

Sites like TPB are more like conduits; they're the friends you ask who knows a guy who can get you the stuff. The only problem is they are THE friend, the guy that EVERYONE knows, and they are not shy (actually outright belligerent) about telling everyone what they do. And that's why they're in trouble, but how guilty they really are and about what crime they actually committed is debatable.

Basically, TBP hasn't done anything wrong... They only store the torrent files on their server.. The real fish to catch is apps like uTorrent and Transmission, who create the torrent files, and downloading them!
