Bellevue will realize that Washington football is not Texas football when they get here. Great football in Washington is average football in Texas. Like I said when the Florida team came down here, " Our freshman team can probably beat them".

bellevue is going to go down there and show everyone that texas football is not like washington football, just like we showed california the same thing three times in a row now. Bellevue's coaches will prep for katy so well that we could have a shut out on our hands.

Its unfortunate the team from Washington has no real clue what Texas Football is all about. Katy searched all over the US to find a team willing to take on the Tigers, especially after beating that 6A state ranked team from Fla last year. Teams that know Katy would not accept the offer. Katy won State (again) last year with a team of mostly underclassmen and just a couple of returning starters. The 2009 team will have all of the 2008 championship team's underclassmen returning as starters. Football is not just seasonal here in Texas. It happens ALL YEAR LONG! Be afraid! Be very afraid!

Your right Katyguy14. I forgot about that. Florida didn't want to play us this year because they didn't want to get beat that bad again. All I can say is Bellevue stepped up to the plate because no other team outside of Texas wanted to play us this year. I hope other states can see if you play with the best teams you can become a great team. To "Bellevuefootball" comment from above, Texas doesn't care about any California teams because we don't see them as a great football state either. I'm glad Bellevue gets to come down here to see what "Texas" football is all about first hand. You also have the privilage of meeting the "KATYNATION", what a sight. That there alone is the price of admission alone. This has Katy blowout written all over it.

Texas is where "Friday Night Lights" originated from. All the High School football movies are all from Texas teams, hmmm I wonder why?

HA HA. The arrogance of you Texans is actually funny. How 'y'all' can look past the 6 state titles in 8 years, victories over #1 Nationally ranked De La Salle and #3 ranked Long Beach Poly and most recently an undefeated season where Bellevue trailed for only 27 seconds (3-0) the entire year is beyond me. But hey, y'all keep talkin your mess and thinking that this game is going to be a blow-out, because come September 12th, you're gonna be in for a longggggg night. These kids up here will fight to the death for one another.

Its funny to see that most of you are probably still in high school. If you all really did your research, Bellevue has been looking to play texas teams. We offered to play Permian, they declined. We offered to play Southlake Carroll, they declined. We even went as far as to ask Hoover in Alabama, but once again, the South Declined.

There has not been ONE program like De La Salle in High School History, that is enough said. I have no doubt Katy has a great program and obviously it is shown through the numbers. Bellevue has been nationally recognized for a good 6 years now. This will be a great game.

I played four years of the Bellevue program and every play Katy has ran for the past 10 years is what they will be studying. Unless they rewrite the entire book, which i doubt, bellevue will know every key and have a solution for every play that is going to be ran, trust me. Of course big plays happen, but that is just the beauty of the game.

Im excited for this one and for Bellevue Football to gain the true resoect that it deserves.
You all WILLL finally understand what Bellevue and Washington football is all about

so strap on your chin gaurds, bite down on your mouthpieces cause yall gon get rockeddddddddddddd ;) lol

Are you bashing FL HS Football, lets get the facts out there do you remember the year before when Miami Northwestern smashed your team South Lake carrols then could of scored again where with would of been a three score game.. FL HS has more players from the state of FL in the NFL than texas and texas is twice the size

To win a state championship in Texas is a task few fan out of state can understand. Texas defines high school football. Every city and small town from deep South Texas to North Texas and all sorts of places in between live for football. Texas doesn't have a few great football teams, it literally has a ton of great teams. State champion football teams like Katy go through grueling playoff schedules that would astound even professionals. Some advice Bellevue. Better work on your passing game and you better diversify your offense. And be prepare to play an offense that most medium sized college aren’t smart enough to run

It is real funny because all I hear in these sites is how Katy is so much bigger and so much stronger and its so much hotter. Who gives a shit. Bellevue has been disadvantaged as far as athletecism and size go in just about every big game they have ever played. The only time they were the most talented team in the state was in 2005 and they lost 2 games (Lost to Kellen Moore's HS Team his junior year, now qb at boise state) People should really look at Bellevue's past when Goncharoff first started and how they were huge underdogs everytime but just shocked people. No one expected them to beat De la salle, well when you train and prep as much as Bellevue does, the impossible comes possible. Long Beach Poly had 22 D-1 prospects both sides of the ball and the game was barely close. Even last year Bellevue came with probably its smallest team of its history and trailed only 17 seconds all year and went undefeated beating state powers from Oregon, California, and Washington. This year retruns 3 starters on D and about 5 on offense. To get to the point, Bellevue never cares who they are playing, every game is treated the same and that is how the coaches go about it too. If Katy wins then they beat the best team in Washington because Skyline is overrated as fuck and backed out of playing bellevue TWICE. If Bellevue wins then we make a solid statement that the football we play up here can step toe to toe with Texas but it certainly doesn't mean one state is better than the other. If Bellevue wins we make a solid statement to the nation that we have one of the best programs of all time when looking back at our history and what we hope to accomplish this year.

And by the way if you want to question Bellevue's toughness lets just look at last year; how about you have a former teammate/current teammamte's brother pass away right before spring ball, be one of the most undersized teams in the state and trail only 17 seconds all year with one of the tougher schedules in the nation and go undefeated, get in a bus crash before state semis where the bus flipped over 3 times into a ditch and THEN PLAY 2 days later and have a state championship game 4 days later and dominate allll in the same year...Yeah we're pretty weak in Bellevue.

this is really going to be interesting. bellevue runs a wing t, has athletic power out of its open enrollement system (which gives it the athletes of 2 katys'), and beats california teams. nice.

just gonna toss this out there.. 2007 state game, katy destroyed the most prolific wing t offense in the nation. destroyed.

the tiger defense is set up to stop wing t (the main offense in texas during the 80s-90s when coach joseph took over the tiger defense). so far it has crippled every wing t team. wing t is not a popular offense in texas now that its so easily stopped and exploited.

the offense is geared to take out the defense. so bellevue is screwed. i forgot to mention that in 2006 bellvue coaches came to katy to learn the defense which they applied to their team. just sayin'.

the team whom won state last year was primarily sophomores with a few juniors in the mix. the majority of the team is returning.

they will be tested with 2 of the best teams in the region (one is ranked nationally) before bellevue. so they'll be ready mentally.

the heat will be dramatically higher than the bellevue kids are ready for. it is horrid here during september. especially on the field. im from there and jesus it was hot on the field. i dont see bellevue having gas left in the tank come 4th quarter being as a lot of them go both ways.

all factors point to katy stone walling a team who beats california, and washington football teams and calls themselves a monster team.

im sorry but california football is severely over rated (state champs in cali! lol thats called district in texas). D-1 athletes dont make a great time. just like bellevue whupped the cali teams, and katy whupped cy bay and whups houston teams.

im not counting bellevue out, this isnt a knock against them, its just me calling it as i see it.

42-21 katy. with bellevue breaking 2 long td's and 1 grinding its way in, on the 4th string.

if anyone would like to debate my thoughts on the games shoot me an email at austin2newman@yahoo.com and we can talk about it without it turning into a screaming match.

good luck bellevue! im expecting a hell of a show out of your offense :D gonna be a fun game

Tiger,
I'm not even from Bellevue or have any stake in this matchup. What does filming "Friday night Lights" have anything to do with this contest? I'm glad that you have so much pride in the fact that you people put so much importance on Football. How many of you high schoolers go on to college? Are you playing football in college. How many of you are getting a good education? Why is it that only about 20% of the Football team at the U of T graduates in 4 years?

Oh, and I've looked at both teams very carefully and I think it's going to be you that will be stunned into silent embarassment when it's all said and done.

Texas has the lowest percentage of high school graduates in the nation. Guess they are too busy watching Friday Night Lights.

Austin....you're missing the boat on a couple of things.

1) Yes, our coaches came to Texas to learn a defensive system in 2006. HELLO! Our coaches travel every off-season to attend clinics and coaching seminars. That defense from the texas clinic in '06 isn't the only one we run!

Our last D-Coordinator was James Hasty, a PRO-BOWL safety and 14 year NFL vet.

Our current D-Coordinator is Paul Moyer, also a Safety and 7 year NFL vet.

I don't think they need Katy to teach them how to run a defense!!!!

Austin also pulled out, "(Bellevue) has athletic power out of its open enrollment system (which gives it the athletes of 2 katys')"

This is ridiculous. Bellevue has around 1,100 students over four grades each year! We are a public school and cannot recruit with free tuition like De La Salle does with students from nearby San Francisco and Oakland. In fact, NO students in nearby Seattle can enroll at Bellevue, so our pool is just as limited as any other.

Besides, bitching about an opponent's superior athletes is weak. That's never been heard from our mouths before we play a National power.

FINALLY, the only reason Friday Night Lights was filmed in Texas is because of the incredible importance of H.S. Football in local Texas culture....not because of the quality of football there. I can tell you that local Bellevue culture is also OBSESSED with High School football.

The difference is we also obsess about our College Football, Pro Football, and most importantly about life outside of football...with our beautiful surroundings and innovative business environment.

Don't count us out of this game.

"Bellevue needs a more diverse offense" hahahaha. How many times did they throw the ball against de la salle......ZERO!!!!!

Florida football is afraid to play Texas? Let's not foget when Southlake was number one in the country until they lost to Miami Northwestern. Florida and Texas are two evenly matched states.
Miami Northwestern got destroyed by Long Beach Poly. California football can easily compete with teams from the south. So all of this "Texas football" talk is a joke. Texas is a great football state, but the top teams are no better than any other top teams in the country. Bellevue will be much more prepared for Katy than Katy will be for Bellevue, as Katy is likely overlooking them due to the fact that they've never played "Texas football". I think Katy is for a much better team than they expect.

This is going to be a great game and a chance for Bellevue football to experience Texas-style football culture. However, it could be a rude awakening for many Texas fans when they figure out that Bellevue plays a pretty high caliber level of football too. Honestly, since I'm from Everett, a city 30 minutes or so from Bellevue, I don't have any real ties to Bellevue football other than watching occassional games on local TV and etc. But damn! When watching Bellevue, where the heck is the ball half of the time? I'm getting old but not that frickin old. It's almost impossible to follow the ball most of the time. Most of their opponents are running to one side of the field while a Bellevue back is actually taking it around the other side. Almost like their coach trained his players to become magicians.

Sure, I'm biased towards Washington football but I'm not going to make any bold predications because I do have a high level of respect for Texas High School football culture. But saying that, I remember when there have been years in the NFL when 6 or so starting QBs were out of the State of Washington. OK, so perhaps Bellevue isn't going to throw the ball much, but why should they have to when they can control the game on the ground?

C'mon Texas fans! If you suspect a blowout, you have another thing coming. Don't let the whole "Friday Night Lights" thing throw you into a false sense of security. I have actually read that book and have also watched many high school football games in your state when I was a soldier in San Antonio but have never witnessed a team perform with such precision like Bellevue.

It's going to be a great game!

hello bellevue alum, thanks for replying to my post! lets get started..

1) you may run more defenses but that is the main defensive scheme. your video proves so.

2) because you are in the NFL does not mean you are a good coach. not one of the coaches in katy played past the college level, guess they arent that good right?

3)i apologize about the athletes comment, the information i was readings stated bellevue had an open enrollment, which favored athletes. if that has changed recently then i am sorry and retract that statement.

4) im not using athletes as an excuse, i was stating what seemed to be a fact based off of the history of open enrollment schools and athletics. that would also be why i said "D1 athletes dont make a good team thats why katy beat cy bay and bellevue whupped de la salle". i thought that was clear that i wasnt saying you were loaded with studs.

5)after talking with a few bellevue athletes, yes, you guys do talk about other teams athletes. for some reason they were convinced every katy player was at least 6'0 200 lbs for some reason. (friends in washington put me in contact with a few players in bellevue just as excited about the game as me)

6) i dont care about the movie friday night lights. it wasnt a good movie and there were better teams to do it over. a team anywhere around the nation with a gung ho town could do that movie. PLUS a lot of it was totally wrong.

7) cant wait for this game!

8)the town as a whole isnt nearly as obsessed as its made out to be. in a town of 500,000 maybe 10,000 will show up for katy games regularly, with it spiking to 20-30,000 during big playoff games

I just got back from the game and WOW it was great game, glad I went. Yes Katy won and I am glad they did, they were the better team!

B'vue great offence! Half of the game I was searching for the ball "where did it go". Well done! I met some fans during half time (I sat on visitors side) and they are very classy. Glad that we played against a classy team. Good luck B'vue with the rest of your '09 season. Y'all come back now ya hear!

Great game between two very well coached teams. It became apparent in the late third quarter and fourth quarter that the better team was Katy. Bellevue plays alot of players on both sides of the ball where as Katy has position players that either play offense or defense. A true luxury because as the game played on and the heat on the field started to take its toll, it seemed there were bellevue players down on the ground after just about every play. I think that made the biggest impact in the game overall. Plus the hard hitting by the Katy Tigers on defense and by their offensive line. Welcome to Texas Football!

Hey Thomas where you at? Hey stop deleting our comments. Bellevue fans can trash talk but when Katy wins we are not allowed to make any comments. At least those trash talkers should come forward and say we played a hell of a game. I give props to Bellevue they played hard and never gave up. That wing-t was something to see. You guys do run it very well. I'm glad I got to see it live. I hope Katy can play in Bellevue next year. Good luck with the rest of your season Wolverines. I'll be keeping up with you guys online.
