Evaucation Day. Patriot's Day. Does Massachusetts have too many quasi holidays?

Answer 1Yes. They cost the state too much money and are just an excuse for state and municipal workers to take a day off no one else gets.

Answer 2No. These holidays are important to our heritage and remind use about what's really important.

Recognizing such holidays are important for remembering the region's and nation's history and heritage. We don't need a day off from work on all holidays, so the number of holidays is not the problem. In fact, I think it is disgusting of how few give any recognition and respect to those lost lives on Memorial Day, a day-off-from-work holiday for most.
