Does gaming nudity objectify women?

Obviously a lot of people don't understand the meaning of the word sexist.

    1. Discrimination based on gender, especially discrimination against women.
    2. Attitudes, conditions, or behaviors that promote stereotyping of social roles based on gender.

Here the role being stereotyped is that only females bodies are to be objectified. It reinforces ideas that the social role of the female is to be an object for a male to admire and possess.

The point is that video games are sexist in that the nudity shown is female only. I have no problem with nudity or sex when it is both sexes naked. If you are going to show nudity in a game or movie whatever, make it fair. Only showing naked girls during love scenes or evil characters like dante's inferno only being naked females IS sexist. The industry objectifies women's bodies only. It is bad for society to view women as commodities rather than people.

The people commenting on here about it not being sexist are just not against female only nudity.

I wrote a lot here but really it is only a quick thought on the problem.

It really disturbs me that I can't buy some games that I would otherwise be interested in because of the inequality presented in the sexualization of characters.

I put yes, because it probly does objectify women. But I don't think thats sexist. Almost every thing we see nowadays objectfy women. Watch a commercial and 9 out of 10 times there is going to be at least one hot chick, though no one calls that sexist, it's just the way things are. As stated in the previous comments, if you don't want to see it, don't play. If your worried about your kids, figure out what your buying them BEFORE you bu it, don't just walk up and see something that you dont like and start blaming everyone but ourselves ,even when what you just saw was on the back of the box. Next time you want to talk crap about a game, remember that you are the one who bought it.

the one thing that is just hilarious is the fact that they will make games over the top gory which causes more sick individuals to go out and do the same thing and in the movies we watch. Seriously think about it we watch movies like hostel and saw watching people get tortured for our own viewing pleasures. But when nudity comes in on a video game its omg omg omg she showed her breast or her ass is hanging out and thats sexist? how so there is alot of games where males are exposed quite a bit look at MGS2-SOL you played as the main character butt naked. Did anyone say omg his wang is hanging out?? no it was a cheap laugh and a "That was classic". I think video game publishers should just push this kind of stuff in the more real life games i would rather gawk at a digital dame rather then rip some guys arm off and beat him with it in a video game. The funny thing here to is im a photographer and pretty much all the models that come for a photo session jump to the all female character games so no not every girl says its bad or cares about it ,
ITS just the parents that cant read ratings on the back of the box or LOOK at the box cover and say oh hey rumble roses xxx is about golf i guess?haha people are just silly

I think nudity would be the last thing that someone would get upset about. The violent killings and language, in my mind, are far more "offensive" than an AI woman who happens to be without clothing. If you dont like it, don't buy the game!

Yeah 99% of the stuff you see in videogames isn't sexist or non-pc until some craptalking person with too much time on his/her hand starts pointing out silly or made up stuff about sexism and pc.

Poll so far seems accurate. Video games do not objectify women, women objectify women. By taking offense to something, they have given it the power to offend. If a woman approaches you in a game offering you 'sexual favors', stop, look at the situation. I have not yet played the game, but I will put money on it being in either a strip club or a hooker. Walk into any random strip club, or drive down the road looking for a hooker. Its portraying something in the game that would/could really happen in a similar situation in real life.
If you have a problem with going to strip clubs, don’t go there in the game, if you have a problem with hookers, don’t go there in the game. If its a cut scene, don’t play the game.
And just for reference, studies show that pornography damages marriages? Way to jump the gun, classic case 'cum hoc ergo propter hoc'.. or simplified, Correlation does not imply causation. The entire argument is flawed, its based less on men and women than it is on popular teachings of the region. As was said, look at Great Brittan, topless posters publicly viewed. They have no problem with it. Look at Germany and surrounding regions, they have and can publicly display sexual acts. (Amsterdam i believe is the most prominent) Japan, take a visit, and tell me you're offended. Its because we as Americans, have become a weak nation that is offended, hurt and outraged by the most trivial things. If you haven’t eaten yourself into oblivion or are depressed because its only 56 instead of 57 degrees outside you're probably a tourist from another country. Being offended by the human body is a foolish thing, judging people is as well. If we drop both, I can see no problem with these things. As this society SLOWLY adapts we will be accepting or many more things, that actually matter and we'll drop the arguments about these trivial things.

Gamers: If you don’t like video game content, stop whining, don’t buy the game. That will hurt them enough. You can feel free to get online and complain and blog until your fingers fall off but that’s about it.

Parents: Heres a quick tip. How about PRETENDING to be REAL PARENTS for once, and look into what you buy for your kids and stop letting the Television or Game System baby sit. Be part of their life and you'll improve their outcome, because we surely don't want them to end up like you.

BOTH PARTIES : Complain, whine, blog, write letters, protest, whatever you want, boycott even. But don't you DARE try and have our RIGHTS or the rights of the developers hindered. The second you do that, not only are you now a terrorist, but you're a fool who’s is hurting your cause. You can control what you do or do not view, and what you expose your children to, IT IS NOT THE GOVERNMENT or THE GAME DELVELOPERS RESPONSIBILITY TO SHILED YOUR FRAGILE LITTLE MIND.

Its these arguments that make me sick.
