The North Carolina Cannabis Patients Network (NCCPN) is gathering testimony of patients for the legislators. We have been working with Rep. Jones since early last fall gathering support for this bill and documenting patients.
We have members who, unfortunately, will not live to see this bill enacted, yet the mere introduction of this bill has given them hope.
Call your legislators and tell them to support this legislation and return dignity and freedom to NC's sick and suffering.
This is not just a moral imperative, it is a constitutional obligation.
Let's return dignity and freedom to the sick and suffering of our state.

Just what we need- zombies walking around unaware that private property is not to be stolen, etc.... we are under threat from zombies who used that ecstacy already! Tripling the zombies is suicide!

Too many people now have personally experienced just how
very effective cannabis is in mitigating serious illnesses and
associated pain. They have startled awake and realized how
grossly they have been lied to for over 70 years now,
since the start of the "Reefer Madness" propaganda by the
Corporate Criminals who saw and still see cannabis hemp
as a threat to their 'bottom line', i.e., $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

i think the world would be a lot better if they do legalize marijuana. as for Mr. miller...... the are talking about legalizing marijuana, something that is grown no different than a garden. i am sure you know what a garden is.marijuana is grown just like a tomato...... as for ecstasy....this is a drug that is mixed together by the human hand.i have read and watched on t.v.that a lot of people die from human made drugs ( the same as prescriptions, etc.....) i have not ever heard of,any one robbing, stealing,or dieing from marijuana. if some ones has a sickness and they cannot take pills and marijuana eases the pain then they should be able to take what ever is necessary to ease their pain.if humans would worry about themselves and not everyone else the world would be a better place.i don't know about anyone else but i was born with only one nose on my face and that is where i keep it.i myself prefer marijuana over prescriptions, alcohol, and over the counter drugs.LEGALIZE MARIJUANA FOR US THAT ARE WITH DISEASE,SO OUR PAIN CAN EASE.PLEASE LET US DIE WITH DIGNITY AND PAIN FREE,LEGALIZE MARIJUANA SO THAT WE CAN CONTINUE TO SEE.WE DON'T WANT TO BE TIED UP IN THE COURT SYSTEM SO YOU SEE, THE MONEY THAT WE SPEND ON THE COURT SYSTEM CAN BE MONEY TO HELP THE ECONOMY.WE JUST WANT TO BE PAIN FREE.JUST LIKE THOSE WITHOUT DISEASE. I HAVE BEEN SMOKING MARIJUANA SINCE I WAS 11 YRS OLD FOR MY DISEASE.I HAVE A DIPLOMA I HAVE A DEGREE I HAVE 3 GROWN CHILDREN THAT ARE MARIJUANA FREE I HAVE 3 GRANDSON THAT LOVE ME DEARLY. SO I WOULD LIKE TO STAY A WHILE LONGER TO SEE THEM GROW UP AND I PRAY THAT THEY ARE DISEASE FREE AND DON'T HAVE TO DEPEND ON MARIJUANA TO LIVE THEIR LIFE PAIN FREE.

Marijuana has been shown to be just as beneficial to patients as some prescription drugs, with none of the terrible side effects. The fact of the matter is, marijuana is not a drug at all, it is a plant that grows as readily as a flower. I have never been fond of taking pills of any kind, even asprin seems a bit strange to me. Instead of taking manufactured drugs to ease the unbearable pain of a migraine, why not utilize a completely natural, God given, herb that does the job just as effectively, and with more speed.

Also, it could serve to boost the economy. If it was legal to tap into the many uses for marijuana and hemp as well as to tax it as heavily as tobacco, it would employ millions, and create a place for small businesses to thrive.

Are you in favor of legalizing marijuana solely for the purpose of treating people with chronic and debilitating diseases?

The way this is worded insinuates that recreational use should continue to be unlawful. I believe that the legalization for treatment of chronic and debilitating illness is a compromise between what we should have and what we can get right now. Right now this may be all we can get, however marijuana should be legal for any responsible adult to use.

I should mention that I do believe marijuana should be legalized for the treatment of chronic and debilitating illnesses. There are patients out there suffering whose symptoms could be alleviated by the use of marijuana under the supervision of a doctor. They need the help now and the battle for recreational use can be set aside for this great need.

I couldn't agree with Paul more. If it came down to only having the plant for medicinal use we'd need to bite the bullet and say yes. But keeping it illegal for recreational use is only going to keep the ideology that its cool for kids to be doing the illegal things. Regulation and legalization is the only way to combat the drug dealers. The drug dealer on main street doesn't check id's, and the friend at school usually isn't offering a fifth of jack but instead an 8th of bud. Let's protect our children give them a chance to grow up before being introduced to weed. As we saw last year with 800k arrests for cannabis, prohibition is not the answer!!!

I say legalize it, tax it and sell it in the ABC stores under the same regulations as alcohol. You don't see many bootleggers anymore now do you.

Jeremo

I say do not legalize marijuana. I agree with Mr. Miller. Plus we have enough drugs legal already. As far as you MRS. WENDY PADGETT I can tell you smoke weed because it has totally fried your brain, because some of your spelling is not correct. So if you are going to talk about something that you don't have enough sense to even be talking about at least prof read before you say or spell something stupid. You also say that weed is grown from a plant, but so is co-cane and I dame sure don't want it legal. But let me guess MRS. DRUG ADDICT you probably do, so that you can make some excuse why you need coke just so you can justify why you do dope around your kids. It is a shame that your kids or anyone's kids had to grow up with a drug addict. Plus it is breaking the law. Oh and your diploma did not do you any good.
MRS. JACKIE maybe I can help you understand also marijuana does have side effects such as cancer, it speeds up the heart, emphysema, memory loss, and much more that I really don't have time to go in to.
KYLE I feel sorry for you. You must have a very immature mind or you just have not been educated properly. By your theory we should legalize crack, heroine, ice, and any other harmful drug. According to your own words "legalization is the only way to combat the drug dealers." No KYLE it just creates the worst kind. It creates the kind that can't be punished by law for dealing drugs to you, myself, and our children.
MR. JIMBO you must not be to intelligent. I know bootlegger's that live just a mile down the road from me. So what will help stop bootlegging, drug dealing, would be tougher laws.
AN INFORMED CITIZEN maybe your the one that needs to do research on marijuana so you can understand how harmful it is and that it is a gateway drug.
So you should all leave Mr. Miller and everyone else alone just because they don't agree with your drug dealing ways!!!!!!!!!

Jeremo before you write a post you should take a moment to think about what you want to say. You could have left your post at it's initial sentence. Instead you ramble on pointlessly being critical of others. You place emphasis on the validity of someone's post based on their spelling, while your own spelling and grammar are poor. Your agreement with Mr. Miller is confusing as his post barely made any sense. Are you trying to say that you are unaware of the difference between ecstasy and the medicinal use of cannabis? Cannabis relieves symptoms of illness without the side effects of harsh medications. Cannabis has been shown to be safer than the use of alcohol and tobacco. There have been no cases where a person has overdosed on cannabis, as a matter of fact it's not possible. Cannabis is not a gateway drug. It has a low addiction quality. The facts support the use of marijuana for the treatment of chronic and debilitating illness. The only thing against it seems to be the propaganda that you are a victim of.

Jeremeo, I wasn't advocating the legalizing all drugs. I am sorry for not being specific enough for you. My intended statement was "legalizing marijuana" is the only way to combat the drug dealer. I was simply stating nearly 75% of the cartels/gangs money comes from marijuana alone. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion however ill-informed it may be. I hadn't seen anyone bring up conversation about coke or heroin other then jerome, why? Obviously because the question we we're commenting on had nothing to do with any other drug then marijuana. As a closing statement marijuana isn't going anywhere even with its current illegality. "There will always be that person willing to take sizable criminal risks selling little amounts of drugs for large amounts of money." Judge Jim Gray his video is on Youtube it is called In harm's way i would recommend it to everyone. Also people might take more kindly to your argument if you would attack the policies of the other users statements rather then attacking their education or other irrelevant issues.

------Jeremo, even if smoking marijuana is proven to cause emphysema or cancer are you aware you can eat thc butter to medicate rather then smoking? Have a cookie or take a toke the fact is it should be my choice and it will be my choice. Some of the above instances of treatment used topical creams so lets stray away from this "hippy smoker" image and move to the debilitated working man receiving help to recover. Are you also aware the government already gives out medical marijuana to a select few? So yes let's give it to some of the needy and say screw the rest of you ill people you can't have this treatment. Outrageous.
To say that there isn't a place in the market for any illicit drug is stupid. Adderall miracle a.d.d. pill-amphetamine. Oxycontin- synthetic heroin. Marinol- synthetic thc.(Marijuana is illegal why is this legal) cocaine-just about anything ending in caine ie Novocaine came from cocaine properties. Obviously all of these drugs shouldn't be legal to consume for recreation but they damn sure shouldn't be illegal to research and they shouldn't be illegal to be used if a doctor recommends it. Why is it we are allowed to drink ourselves into liver failure but if i want to see if its even possible to smoke myself into cancer i can't do that unless I'm using cigarettes of course. :O
If weed is a gateway drug by your logic tobacco, alcohol, and prescriptions are also gateway drugs.

Blah-Blah-Blah-Blah! I think you'll just like talking to hear the sound of your own voice. You'll sound like a bunch of Democrats. Christy if you are so against all these other drugs being legal then you should try and have laws passed, so they will be illegal instead of posting stupid comments to help support your drug addict ways. It's just your addiction talking. Paul you can't over dose on having sex with prostitutes either. But some people are sex addicts. It is still illegal and wrong just like marijuana illegal and wrong. What you'll need is God in your lives

Your response makes your colors apparent. You feel like those who don't hold similar beliefs as your should be force to fit into them anyway. You are one of the people who would take away God given rights because you don't understand what God given means. You desperately claw at the hope this is a partisan issue by calling us democrats when it's not. I am republican, for instance, just as is former Presidential candidate Ron Paul. You feel like this is some anti-christian movement even though I am a fundamentalist as anyone who supports this issue could be. You would rather see children have more access to this drug than the chronically sick who need it. You are the worst kind of citizen this country has. You are entitled to your opinion however propaganda influenced it is, however it would do you better to get an education instead of showing your ignorance.

Jeremo, I have to say it doesn't seem you know God in your own life. Biblical God is not about forcing anyone to do anything. As a matter of fact it's a basic biblical principal that we have free will to chose whatever we want to do. Even after accepting our saviour we still have free will to choose. I am also a fundamental bible believing christian and the bible does not support your position. Since the bible is the complete Word of God then I have to say God doesn't support your position. What does this mean for medical marijuana? Well it means that if I am suffering from a debilitating terminal illness that I can relieve the symptoms with medicine. It also means that you can suffer in horrible pain as much as you like and not one of us is going to force you to take medicine. Can you say the same about yourself? Would you allow someone the freedom to choose? (PS I am a republican too, conservative at that)

i dont believe that the federal government should be in the business of outlawing things. by outlawing OBJECTS, we only create an underground market with no quality control, no taxes, and no laws. promote responsibility. dont treat citizens like children that cant be trusted to make their own decisions.

Yea buddy! Here's a zombie for ya.......
Irv Rosenfeld, the U.S. Feds marijuana patient, a patient getting pot from the U.S. Government for 24yrs. He has recieved 11oz/mo, every month since the program began! Following is his testimony to the State of Michigan re medical marijuana and the consequences of his chronic use of the plant. He also talks about the U.S. Gov’s research and conclusions from observing his everyday consumption.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvzX8aNwxgM

Considering the overwhelming proof supporting the medicinal value of marijuana, as well as the proof supporting the non-toxic nature of this plant, I am amazed that a state that prides itself on it’s medical institution and education prowess has NOT passed medicinal marijuana laws. Albeit not too surpising since PhRMA lobbyist and the pharmaceutical companies will, and are fighting medicinal marijuana legislation tooth and nail. Control of profit and proliferation of ignorance is dictating “patient quality of life”, that is the stance of PhRMA and current federal and NC law. It seems that this approach is “doing harm” to the sick and those suffering from chronic pain, both physically and financially. It could make a patient very frustrated when ignorant voters and ideological driven politicians dictate his or her health in a negative direction. This is NC’s current marijuana law and its wonderful success. Thank you so much..... clowns.

Jeremo,
You are an ignorant, shortsighted little person. There are whole textbooks available on marijuana demonstrating conclusively from quality data that marijuana is not a gateway drug. There is also plenty of good quality evidence supporting the fact that marijuana is not physically addictive as well. Learn to read and then read with an open mind. Oh yeah, grow up.

Greg

Oh yeah, Jeremo. It's not you'll. It's you all. You'll is a contraction of 2 words; namely you and will. If you are attempting to use slang, then at least spell it correctly and type y'all. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. sheesh.

What kind of person can throw a comment out that we need God in our lives and not a plant for medicine that He created. Jeremo, I'm sorry honey but you need to get educated and read your Bible. There are several references to the fact that God created herb bearing seed and that it was good. Genesis 1:11 and 12 I believe. I am shocked that someone who would propose that we are a bunch of drug addicts and that we need God would be bashing his own creator who created the marjuana plant in the first place. So do we believe mans lies, or do we believe God who created this plant for our service.
Oh, and I am sure if you chewed on a cocoa leaf in it's natural God-made state, it would be quite different than the man-made version we call cocaine.
Wake up and get real!!!!
