NONE of the people on this list. Mariah needs to do something different. SHE CANNOT KEEP DOING THE SAME MIDTEMPO R&B GROOVE RECORDS. I loved "E=MC2", but let's face it -- the singles were flops, except for "Touch My Body." And that benefited greatly from being the lead single. But after the next three releases failed, Mariah cooled off a great deal with radio (witness what "My Love" is doing on the charts). She needs to come out with something DIFFERENT, or radio won't give her a second glance. She also has to mature a little -- can't be the sexy, Hello-Kitty loving girl when she's nearing 40.

Tricky has been putting out some diverse stuff, Kanye did well with her on Stay the Night. Where is Mahogany, Sprung and when I Feel It are great. Dupri is always good with MC but his vocal presence should be severely limited. Danja is cool for a song. BRING MISSY BACK. Timbo is a sure fire hit. She should do something different like get James Poyser back, toss Raphael Saadiq into the fray. Leave babyface back in 1994 where he belongs. I think she can hook up with A. I don't understand why all that drama about Mariah working with Walter again. They were a very rare good partners for so many years, one of the best and most sucessful the world ever seen. But this doesn't mean that she can't work with good new producers too. Why can't she do BOTH?
Let's be honest: we all miss songs like 'Butterfly' or 'Outside'. But we all love the so-called "new" Mariah and her new songs too. I love her collaborations with Toomp, Scott Storch and Brian-Michael Cox, I would love to see her working with Darkchild, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and DJ Clue again... I like Fat Joe a lot too! First of all Walter Afanasieff is the name greatly missing from this list. Most producers are limited to the past 00's era accompanied by some current in the particular genre of R&B/Hip Hop and a few classics just the same. Rather one dimensional in my eyes, something Mariah isn't supposed to be.
The way I see it, Mariah needs something new and not people she's worked with frequentely and definitely not people who produce everything else out today. In other words she needs to set herself apart again in trademark.
Out of your list I'd name Babyface, Brian Michael Cox, James Wright, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and maybe Polow da Don having something to my likings. I'd appreciate if she'd not use the hip lingo that she's been using on her last two albums and use her great song writing abilities to craft her songs. Also, I'd like to see some more maturity in regards to what she talks about in her songs ( not always hitting the clubs). Vocally, I'd like to see more soul in her voice and less cutesy, sugary, whispery tones. Producers: Big Jim, James Poyser ( For that old school/ soulful feel) J.D, ( I think they have great chemistry and should release a single from him in this album),Kanye West( STN was amazing),Dj Toomp ( Love his productions, still think IBLYLT was slept on), Trackmasters, Timbaland, Missy( something a la Jazmine Sullivan), Dj Clue. Personally, I'd like to see Mariah work with Big Jim more. I loved Fly like a bird (and omgah, that Grammy's performance), and Petals was one of the most touching and heartfelt songs I've ever heard. As for working with Walter A., I think Mariah has really evolved in a different direction from where she was with him musically and I really can't see them doing tons of work together anymore. Though it'd be great to see them work together again and make some of those old school huge ballads, I think some of her newer ballads like WBT and Don't Forget about us were killer too.
And I'm with YIPEE on the whole IBLYLT thing. I love that track! It was totally underplayed in my humble opinion. :)

I understand that we like Mariah when she does Ballads but she also has to reach a wide range of age groups. For example older generation tend to like the old Mariah with lots of Ballads but the new generation likes a lot of R&B. Than their are some of us from the old and some of us from the new generation that like both the Ballads and the R&B. I wonder if Mariah would try soft rock or even country. I listen to all types of music except hard rock. Hard rock turns me off because of to much noise and not enough words. Just my opinion.
Marcel I'm not sure it's all just a question of humility. I think they had a pretty bad falling out. Walter has said a lot of very positive things about Mariah, but he has also said some tough stuff - he criticized her "Honey" video as "f*** you Tommy," and said some of their final studio sessions were "explosive." With all of the Sony drama of the time period, I think Walter was caught between two very powerful influences that were in the middle of a bitter and lasting split. The wounds that probably arose for everyone during that time would be pretty tough to heal. Mariah doesn't have to work with Walter if she doesn't want to, especially if it would be painful.

So far there have been a lot of interesting comments.
Here are my 2 cents:Gosh, where do I start, lol. We all love Mariah, and most of us have been fans of hers from way back. I personally became a fan when when she dropped Daydream, back in my freshman year of HS. I used to like her stuff before then, but I was too young to really appreciate her work.
I look back at her career, and I think her peak was when she dropped Daydream, and Butterfly. Daydream is the album where she began to change her sound. Fantasy, Always Be My Baby, etc. Those were great hits.
She also came out with great remixes, which she needs to start doing again (with new vocals--hip hop remixes, and house remixes. Actually, some of her best vocals were in house remixes like in "Anytime You Need a Friend)
Then there's Butterfly, and that was a classic. After that the music got pretty generic. Until TEOM, another break through album. E=MC2 was really good, and one of my favorites, but the singles she released were same ol, same ol. So here's what I noticed, Mariah does best when she comes out with something completely new. It seems like she'll come out with a new sound, and it'll do extremely well, but then she'll copy that sound for the next album, or two. Then those end up flopping.
She needs to come out with a new sound in every album. For once she needs to take a lesson from the other M. Yes, I'm a HUGE Mariah fan, and this is her forum, but I'm going to have to utter the blasphemous name of Madonna...
We all know Madonna can't sing for her life... But we have to give credit to whom it's due. The one thing Madonna knows is how to keep the public's interest. Because she can't sing, she's come up with other ways to do that. We all know her strategy, a new look, and a new sound for every album. Match that with the hottest producers of the moment, and then you get success. That's the only reason why that lady is still around.
Mariah needs to start doing that. She did it with Daydream, Butterfly, and TEOM, and it worked. The change doesn't have to be drastic like our old lady Madonna, but enough so that the audience doesn't get bored. E=MC2 was an amazing album, but she released singles that were safe. The exception was TMB. Touch My Body was great, and people were loving her. She could've followed that with I'm That Chick, Migrate, Side Effects, and a ballad. That would've completely thrown the public off, and all those songs would've been hits.
So it's not so much about the producers, as it is more about taking risk. She had the right songs, but she didn't risk anything.
Her new album needs to be something we've never heard before. No more mid tempos. She's being doing mid tempos since Emotions, and Dreamlover, and it's about time we move on (as much as we love them). I mean no one can pull off mid tempos like Mimi (I LOVE 4real4real), but they need to remain album cuts, and not singles. She needs two things, club banging/up tempo/dance tracks, and powerful ballads. But they need to have a distinct sound.
Look at Kanye, I'm still shocked that he completely changed his sound (literally) for his last album, but it worked. I'm not saying MC should be that drastic, but give us something new.
Stop working with the same people over, and over again. Except for maybe Jermaine Dupri, and Brian Michael Cox, she needs a whole new team. She needs club banging songs like Timberland can do. Maybe those can have an electronic sound. Then she needs powerful updated ballads like "No One" from Alicia Keys.
I mean, she needs to be creative, and different. Right now it's all about electronic sounds, so she can work with Daft Punk for example, and come up with something totally hot for the clubs. I dont understand why more uptempo songs werent chosen to be released from her lasest album "side effects" after all that has happened with chris brown more people need to expose the truth and her lyrics are honest I was sad I never got to hear "cruise control" on the radio its such a great song. Lead the Way was ACTUALLY vocally recorded back in 97. The only thing added were some arrangements cause it was a very rough recording. I am not saying she'd make an 100% Walter album but as someone said the poll was bout who'd you like MC to collabo in her next album. Walter has said a lot of respectful things on MC and even said he'd love to work w/her again. Mariah is the one who doesn't want him more and is not because of Honey vid or Bfly but cause she was furious he was helping new talented voice singers when MC started losing hers. She was bad-mouthing everyone back in 97 who wasn't a rapper or urban prod, she said she hated Hero so much and all that mostly because she started losing voice and more. Walter produced Savage Garden's 2nd album to perfection and those were new sounds. Let's be honest: MC is not really a composer/prod'er and Walter certainly wrote most of her best songs and in her first album he also produced and rearranged I Don't Wanna Cry. He's a genious. It baffles me that safe songs like IBLULT, Bye Bye and I stay in Love were released as singles when she had gems like For the Record, 4Real 4Real, Side Effects, Thanx 4 Nothing and OOC. Safe does not come to mind when I think of my idol Mariah Carey. I also think that she was side tracked with life and that's understandable for someone like Mariah who practically put her life on hold for her music. For me I think that her devotion to her music showed very much in her career. She poured her heart and soul busting out number one after number one and a successful album every year in the 90's. Not to mention all the resung remixes. Unfortunately, Mariah has set the bar for herself pretty high and in order to succeed she would need the same kind of devotion. I hope that she can make the time to promote her music this time around and even do resung remixes. i also hope that she only does very avant garde and cutting edge music so there is less of a chance for her lablel to cut the good stuff out. She needs to steer away from the safe and give it her all like we all know she is capable of. She also needs to use her adaptive skills to stay current and with the times and right now synth pop and hard beats are in. We all know her talent is not at question here. E=MC2 hopefully showed her label how not to do things and how much Mariah needs to stand up for her music and take charge over her singles (Remember when MC was telling fans she wanted to release Migrate but the label was not feeling it). I am casting a lot of my positive energy her way so she can turn it into raw and creative talent for some new and refreshing music that showcases her gift.

Walter is so in for the kind of music he produces. Leona Lewis was produced lately by Walter. She's such a talented young lady. And back in time he produced the "Affirmation" album to Savage Garde which in my opinion was a great album and showed us another face of Walter we don't often see, because he is more famous on the big-ballads side: Céline Dion, Mariah Carey of old, Leona Lewis, Tina Arena, Katharine McPhee, etc. So he's still doing a lot of music in the 2K's and trying to say he's "out of date" is the same or even bigger than saying that MC is a sold-out. And I guess nobody wants him to produce the entire new Mariah album, but I guess we all would be really happy to have a couple of big numbers in which Walter would take the lead role.
But of course Mariah should do a more "european" album, something fresh, not that "boring" as everybody calls her, to stop the hip-hop slangs "witchu" "pon de mic" "I've gotS to migrate" and all that. When the label stopped Migrate for being released it was for the best: they wanted "I'm that Chick" and all of the media guys who heard that song said it was almost a jewel. They then went safe with "Touch My Body" and gave her her 18th #1 hit, but then they released "Bye Bye" and that was SO boring and the video was awful and then Mariah decided to marry Nick and stopped promotion, that was the downhill of E=MC2 plus that even though it was a good album it was so much of the same and she dumped Benny Medina and she started taking the decisions once again and all that paid the bill. With a new album you have to promote it if you want it to do well and Mariah was lost in the "is she married? is she pregnant? how long will her new marriage last?" and then Nick directing the next two videos that were hedious both of them, he trashed both songs and Mariah's boring performances of them also did contribute.
She needs to do a good album, with music that ALL the world would like not only the Bronx and Harlem in NY and East LA, but the whole world and then to promote it and try to put some energy on her "live" performances and let real directors to do her videos... what happened to the "Butterfly" era videos? those videos were great! then Heartbreaker, Loverboy and TEOM videos were good as Touch My Body was but after that? yuck! People like to listen to good songs, good voices, happy tunes, good language, and at nights, dance to it, that's why Lady Gaga and all of those are reigning right now

Its been proven many a time that when people are in the state of turmoil, ie. losing their job, losing their home, getting screwed by the economy, that many people turn to entertainment. And these days the music that seems to be getting people out of their current problems and financial state of mind is upbeat music that people can dance to. That is a huge factor as to why people like Lady Gaga are so successful her songs are catchy, new, fun, etc. Mariah released singles about sad topics like losing loved one and being wronged by exes. Hopefully the topics for her next album will be upbeat and fun and perhaps she will step up and do something... dare i say it? Different. Some dance tracks and upbeat tempo music with a new direction would be nice and new producers with experience in dance, synth pop and electric music can steer her in the right direction. Why not embrace the current music trend that our damaged society has helped spawn. If it helps people stay positive and keeps people's minds off of their lives for just a while. Plus shes been doing the same formula for too long it'd be refreshing for all to be surprised by her taking a new direction for a change. She has the talent to do whatever she wants to, she's friggin MARIAH CAREY for crying out loud. One of very few living legends in music.

Mariah Carey is not expected to do dance music, except for her Remixes, that are (the one's for the 90's) amazing. Mariah Carey is not only a Voice. She's an artist who a lot of people is related to, and that because of her lyrics, the ones that talk about life, not the ones about partying. If you want to hear positive music, funny music, there's a lot of singers out there, but when it comes to good music, music we really feel close to, we only have Mariah Carey. Beautiful voice and beautiul talent. Keep giving us MUSIC.
You have a great point MC Fan =) Mariah does also have a very personal message for her fans and its no doubt that she will include some of these messages in her next album. She has done it with I Wish You Well, Fly Like a Bird, Through The Rain, My Saving Grace, Can't Take That Away, Outside, Looking In and many others. I wouldn't expect anything less from Mariah. My point was that it would be a nice change for everyone if she steered away from the formula she's been doing for a good majority of her albums and delve into some new territory of cutting edge raw music. She writes and composes so her essence will be in whatever she makes. What would be awesome to see is Mariah creating ornately produced music that realms with Bjorks music which mixes big orchestras with drum and bass and electronica, its very experimental. Just go listen to the background music for Bjork's songs Oceania, New World and Isobel then you'll understand the type of music I'm talking about. That and more synthpop dance music and her big classic ballads would be an ultimate mix of great and refreshing music.
CONCLUSION: We all miss the Music Mariah used to do in the 90's. We all love the music Mariah does nowadays, but if we could choose, Mariah would be still singing powerful ballads and great up-tempos like the ones from the 90's. And, of course, we all want Mariah to realese amazing remixes like she used to. MARIAH'S FANS LOVE THE "CLASSIC" MARIAH CAREY. Of course the 90's had gone. But Mariah could do nowadays something different and not the formula she's been doing in her last CD's. It was ok with TEOM (although I think E=MC2 is quite better than TEOM), but we don't want the same again! I don't wanna hear Mariah's beautiful voice over disgusting electronic beats and awful JD vocals. We want real music instruments in her songs!!!!!!!

Forget the 90's, forget the producers. I think we are all agreeing that we want a clean album where the focal point in mariah's beautiful voice. I hope that in the new album Mariah will sound like she did in the 90's without the songs sounding like they've been pulled out of that decade.

Actually I don't know about who's putting the album out, I remember reading back after Glitter, that she signed with Island a contract for just 3 albums. I know it was also supposed to be releasing albums through her own label MonarC and that label doesn't exists anymore (after just pulling Charmbracelet). So, I am not sure if this album is being released through Island or is going to be a "independent" album or what? did she extend her contract for more albums?
What I guess, after reading what that Jasmine girl said, is that the album is going to sound the same as E=MC2, actually she didn't said anything "spectacular" this time. I remember last time she heard an album in advance (E=MC2) she was saying it was THE BOMB with lot of club bangers and then the album came out and I was like... what? club bangers? none of them! But maybe Jasmine likes going to the same "urban" clubs Mariah goes. In the clubs I go to, I just remember had heard like once the Touch My Body remix, other than that, never! Maybe because outside the US (certain cities) the HipHop remixes aren't the hit compared to the dance CLUB remixes/songs, the Euro-House tracks. But well, we're all going to hear the album and this "anti-Walter" poll MariahDaily put was actually so late since MC says she's recorded most of the album and is already doing "photoshot sessions". I guess it'll have lot of rappers on them, whispering, at least one song in which she's going to bad-mouth Tommy once again (leave him alone, it's been 12 years now Mariah!!! he's a wife and a sort of new baby-girl, peace!!!), one song in which she's going to pity herself for being 30% black instead of 100% black, and all that. I guess that formula worked on Butterfly but it's over already but she seems to be at that.

Hey I am not a racist at all. I didn't say my comment That way I just wanted to point out that TO ME she's the one who seems not comfortable with her white side: it shows on her late music, husband, friends, producers, even when on stage w/other singers she tries to be next to the black ones, actually I don't remember any visit MC had done to her mom since married. Just when in Europe she wears less dark make-up n when in the US she almost paints her whole body way to dark. I am not saying being black's something wrong, of course not, it's just that she's always talking about color, multi-racial things and then she tries so hard to look darker than her nice natural pale color. Why is their any comment at all about who Mariah Carey is? As a person she is intune to who she is. Mariah doesn't need no one telling her or commenting on her race period. We donot live with Mariah to judge her on how she tends to give or live more black than her other family roots. Yes she has friends that are black but she also has friends that are of other nationalities to. Yes her husband now is a black man but she also married another man long time ago that wasn't black. What was your point? We all listen to all types of music weather we are black, white or etc. We tend to only think certain type of music is for this type of people and that is not so. If we really look at history all nationalities had a part in all types of music. We need to get away from judging and looking at people only in one light or one way and just start loving the person for what they are. I can relate to Mariah on the pale skin and it is not fun when in the sun. We tend to sunburn very easy so it is good to use other things to put on our skin to protect it. Putting on darker tons help protect our skin. Everybody is into tans. Stop putting people in a box as to say if you this way you are trying to be black and if you this way you trying to be more white. There is no type of black people music and white people music. If that was the case than we wouldn't have all nationalities of race in classical, soft/hard rock, R&B, Oprah, Jazz, hip/hop and etc. To me you are putting Mariah in a box as this type of person in your eyes and thats not fair. I personally have so many roots in my family and their is noway I would be able to have a taste of everything about me demonstrated thru music and other avenues. All families have one or two particular roots they concentrat on and that is just that and may not be thru music but other avenues as well. well I am also mixed as I said before but my look is like Mariah's natural skin color just That I'm green-eyed so I am not racist but I remember those days when everybody asked her "black? you're white!" and then she'd say she's mixed but that she has light skin and that it doesn't matter. Those days where cool. I related to her. Now she tríes to look darker, speaks like an iletratted 13 y.o. when she's 40 and finished high school and born to an opera singer mom. Beyonce is not a newbie nor a spark artist. She's been hot since her "destiny's" days when it was all about her to nowadays. We've seen two different Mariahs: The one from the 90's, who was a huge star in the whole world. EVERYBODY respected her as an artist, and nobody used to talk about her life, her body or her horrible boobs. People loved that simple Mariah, specially in Europe she was one of the biggest superstars. Then Mariah decided to have fun, changing her music and her image. I understand that, sh's a human and she needs to express herself and have fun even when she's working. But doing that, people started talking about her body, her clothes, and her music was in second place. In USA Mariah's the one and only, but in the rest of the worl, Mariah is a singer like many others that once upon a time WAS THE BEST. Mariah's been doing the same since 2000. She had fun, she's been doing the music she loves. But I think now it's time to change: Mariah is 40, she needs to remain the World that she is that loving girl who was only concerned in doing good music and not radio hits. And of course she can do that hits, but also old school music, classic Mariah. I love Mariah Carey. In fact is the only one for me. But I'm bored of hip hop, rappers and all that stuff. Fans from the beggining deserve a little of the Mariah we fell in love with.

Honestly and don't kill me for saying this but it really doesn't matter what us lambs think. If you are like me a hardcore, stick it out till the end, unconditional support Mariah lamb then you will always help Mariah by buying her music and her singles and request her on the radio. The truth is that like me many of us tried tirelessly to help E=MC2 and Mariah's fan base is pretty large and devoted. If we lambs couldn't help E=MC2 then if we get another E=MC3 were gonna be going down the same path. It really comes down to the average music lover who gives into the latest music trends and just wants to here a good jam or dance. If Mariah can't tailor her music to that large crowd of casual listeners than she won't be able to break the barrier into international success. Mariah used to be able to predict the trends and be a step ahead of the rest but now she is always a step behind or shes just doing the same variation of an old hit. Mariah must evolve in her music and embrace the new and cutting edge sound of today. Again it's NOT ABOUT US LAMBs. A 2-disk album would be great for her career. Disk-1 would work to capture the older and more classic Mariah loving listeners as Disk-2 would bump Mariah into the present trends and hopefully even her her to be not only relevant but maybe even a respected trend setter. I pray that there is a new sound. The fact is she needs to work with new producers to get a new sound and a new perspective on her music. I really hope she isn't done with her album just yet cause what it sounds like to me is that she rushed a CD with The Dream and Jermaine Dupri who always work with her and produced most of the E=MC era. And if past events have shown The Dream and Mariah = forgotten #82 song. Not gonna lie though they both created a new sound with Touch My Body remix feat. Rick Ross so we'll see if they can both evolve her sound. Plus there was anew sound starting to become evident in songs like 4Real 4Real, Side Effects and For the Record. With this said I have a message for my Idol and Inspiration: I'm super excited waiting for your new album but you can't rush genius so take the time to 'Make it Happen' Mariah. Good Luck :D

The perfect album would be something like Butterfly: Powerful ballads we all love (Butterfly, Whenever You Call or Outside) and great R&B mid tempos (The Roof, Honey, which are Mariah's bets R&B songs) No rappers, no colaborations. Just Mariah. Just her beautiful voice, with or without vocal acrobatics, but her real and perfect voice. And, of course, real instruments, not beats over beats. Love Mariah forever

Mariah be needin a new sound pronto. Her music is so predictable these days. Most of dem hits of hers are a simple beat and a simple melody. She's Mariah Carey for goodness sake can't the child afford the best of the best of producers. So she can sing, big deal. People with mediocre vocal skills a la Rihanna or Madonna can easily bust out a hit by hiring the right producer to cover up they flaws. Hell, Madonna built her whole career on that concept. You have a great point MC Fan =) Mariah does also have a very personal message for her fans and its no doubt that she will include some of these messages in her next album. She has done it with I Wish You Well, Fly Like a Bird, Through The Rain, My Saving Grace, Can't Take That Away, Outside, Looking In and many others. I wouldn't expect anything less from Mariah. My point was that it would be a nice change for everyone if she steered away from the formula she's been doing for a good majority of her albums and delve into some new territory of cutting edge raw music. She writes and composes so her essence will be in whatever she makes. What would be awesome to see is Mariah creating ornately produced music that realms with Bjorks music which mixes big orchestras with drum and bass and electronica, its very experimental. Just go listen to the background music for Bjork's songs Oceania, New World and Isobel then you'll understand the type of music I'm talking about. All I'm saying is Mariah is most likely gonna take a break from music after this new album wraps up to have kids possibly so she better bring it like she never brought it before. She needs to bust out on the music scene like she had the drive and ambition of Lady Gaga, Madonna, Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez (in her prime) combined. Her music has to be provocative, different and pretty much needs to incorporate a new sound if she wants to make any waves. She really could have done so with Migrate on the last album but she apparently likes to play it safe. I've been a fan of his since he produced Aaliyah's sophomore album way back in the mid 90's---before he was popular/mainstream. I always appreciated his work. It was different. Now it's mainstream. It took him a while to get up there, but he did it. He has boosted the careers of many artist. Some of these artist probably wouldn't be as popular today if it wasn't for him, including Nelly Furtado (people forgot who she was for like two albums till he produced her latest one), Justin Timberlake (His first album was cool, but the second album was a hit because of Timberland). Then there's Missy Elliott, and Aaliyah---the majority of the hit singles of both of these artists were the work of Timberland.
So yes, the guy is a hit-making machine. Hopefully he, and Mariah will only make one hit track, but several... A contemporary type ballad like "Apologize," but better... and of course a few club-banging hits.
I mean, with his musical innovation, and Mariah's voice, hits are to be expected. Who knows, he might end up producing half of the album if they get along in the studio. Hey, he might even become Mariah's new JD.
Now I'm definitely looking forward to the new album. I'm sure they'll make hits. I'm also looking forward to the song 100 Percent. At first I didn't know if it was a ballad, or a dance track. Though now it obviously sounds like a ballad. A good ballad at that. In fact, if it's as good as they say they it is, then I'm thinking that it will be Mariah's next "Hero"! I say that because it sounds like it will be an uplifting song, the kind that only Mariah can pull off. The song was supposed to be used for either the Olympics, or Obama's campaign.... Now it will be used for Precious. So I can only imagine that song deals with believing in yourself, and giving a 100 percent... In other words, a new version of Hero. Let's see, JD and Bryan-Michael Cox produced it, so hopefully it won't sound like WBT, or ISIL. But it must be an amazing track if they thought the Olympics, or Obama would use it as their theme song. Let's keep our fingers crossed...

I don't think that she will get back in the studio with Walter A OR Babyface, which is very sad in my book. Just to make people aware, We Belong Together was successful partly because of Babyface because it borrowed a hook from his song Two Occasions. Also, Mariah has worked with Timbaland before on the song Babydoll (I made one of the mariahdaily.com staff aware of this ;), so if he creates another song like that then I will be happy. I wouldn't mind Mariah going in the Apologize direction though because that song was a monster hit, although I believe that Timbaland's contribution to that song was a remix rather than the original song. That's all I have lol.

Mariah does seriously need to get back with Babyface and Walter though, if not them then another big ballad writer e.g Diane Warren who wrote Can't Take That Away and whoever wrote Reflections (Care Enough) should also be on this new album... that was one of her best ballads of the 2000's in my opinion, lyrically and musically.
I'd like for Mariah to work with Sean Garreth. He produced Jesse McCartney's album Departure:Recharged and I think he would work well with Mariah.

Well, if Mariah reads all this, as I imagine she will, and ignores our pleas for her to work with Walter or another credible ballad writer, then we know she has totally abandoned her roots in favor of the hip-hop community. I know this unfair to say against Mariah but I am saying it... I love her hip hop stuff, don't get me wrong, some of it I prefer to her ballads, but at the same time she hasn't had a consistently good album since Butterfly or Music Box for me, which are her two masterpieces. Hip-hop/"R&B" is getting really old to me these days, its boring. If Mariah does go the hip hop route this album I probably won't be much fussed about her anymore, cos she is doing way too much of the same thing over and over. E=MC2 was a great album, but it suffered highly from slowdown in the 2nd half of the album, after Side Effects and That Chick, there were 3 other good songs (which is good) but the other songs e.g I'll Be Lovin' You Long Time, 4 The Record, and whatever else was on the album was pretty boring. I think the album was badly arranged. Ah well, that's my piece.

I personally agree with some of the comments that I have read, that Mariah needs to work with Walter and Kenny again. That period for me, was the best as her career really sky-rocketed with the help of them. Ofviously, she is a great songwriter and singer, but she needs to work again with them.
The reason why her singles didn't go to number one, was lack of support. With her husband producing and directing the videos. That was mistake number one. Second, poor timing of singles and her voice was shaky. Check her version of Bye Bye on Oprah, that was disastrous. Her performance of I stay in Love was excellent, but the only problem was that she didn't promote the song, as such. In the past, Mariah would sing and promote the hell out of a song, but these days, she kust sings it once or twice and the rest is us to the people to vote and request, that's bad.
She still makes beautiful and meaningful ballads in my opinion. But she needs to make more. I love that song "Forever", as well as other gems on her first couple of albums and later ones. The old Mariah is still buried somewhere inside of Mimi. We just need to get her back.

I'm so glad to hear that Obsessed is an uptempo song. She also mentioned that it would be a "fun, summer record." That is great news! It's also supposed to be different than her usual stuff, so that is also great news. See guys, she DOES listen to us (checks out the forums)... Now I hope that she comes out with a hot ass new look that's trendy, yet classy. So far she's been wearing beautiful classy dresses, that make her look sexy. Hopefully she'll stay on that route. I think that this album will be just as hot, if not hotter than TEOM, and that it will have a mainstream appeal... Which is just what she needs.

The station started playing early. It's already played twice.
I guess that everyone has been eagerly waiting for the exact time, while the song has already been playing, lol.
I like the song. I think that it could do well at the clubs.
It's catchy. The only thing that I don't get, is why there's no end to the song. It sounds like the station is cutting off the end of the song, or like the song has no ending. Would've been cool if the song had a dance "break" in it. Like a part with few vocals, so people can dance to the beat for a minute.
Looking back at the comments The Dream was making about this song, I do think this song is about Eminem. But it's not as overt as "Clown."
I'm happy about that, because she's talking to him, without really talking to him. The average listener will have no idea about who she's talking about. They'll think it's just a song about some guy.

Well...I thought this was going to be an uptempo tune like she said...its nothing more than Migrate or It's Like That. Thought there was going to be a change. The kids will love it...us fans that stuck by her since 1990 will hold out until I get the real stuff on the album. The song is ok though. Nothing against it..just sound like anything Keyshia Cole or even Keri Hilson could do.

I know this poll is not the place to discuss the new single but I wanted to say that I really like it. I am a hardcore / die hard fan and I miss the ballads with the big voice. Having said this, Mariah announced in a twit last night that there are BIG BALLADS in the new album. So, I will just wait and in the meantime I will support "Obsessed." That's what we should all do. The single is clearly about Eminem - no doubt about this. I hope that the video won't address the Eminem controversy though and be more general - so that people can more easily relate to the song. I hope the video will be really dark and twisted. I imagine something like an obsessed fan in a mental health hospital obsessing over Mariah. Mariah could really show off her acting skills in this video. Well, regardless of what it's going to be like, I am sure it will be a SHSGW!!! Go Mimi!! Well done, let's go! :)
... I also wanted to say that I am glad Mariah picked "Obsessed" as the lead single. Yes, it is similar to "Migrate." Mariah really wanted to put out "Migrate" as a single but I have the feeling that LA Reid didn't let her. So, now she is finally doing what she wants and deciding for herself the songs she wants to become singles. If she had done this with E=MC2, than she probably would have had more #1s. So, this is real emancipation! We can only expect great things from now!!!!
Record, I completely agree with you about her having more number ones if she was deciding the singles. I'm also happy that she has control over her music. Last album the singles were way safe and they didn't stand a chance on radio with exception of "Touch My Body". "Obsessed" is a smart move for not only radio but it also has enough controversy in it to get some exposure. This is how the music bizz is supposed to be played. I personally love how addictive "Obsessed" is and I love love love the hard urban beats.
Dirty version of "Obsessed" sounds way better than the original, that auto-tune over-shadowed Mariah beautiful VOCAL performance, without that auto-tune sounds more cathy!!!

Finally...MC's working with Walter again...(as he mentioned on his Twitter accnt). He was also included in the producer's list for MOAIA in Wikipedia, maybe we could expect a better ballad in the upcoming album!

Don't worry Lambs, song nowadays slowly increases in airplay. But once the video for Obsessed comes out it would surely increase in airplay; and when the airplay is high; IDJ would release the single for download.. Then 19th # 1 is for us to celebrate. Think positive.... I can't wait to hear her cover of " I want to know what love is". Hopefully it would make the album cut..
