Should the zoning status for the Fletcher property on Great Road change from residential to commercial?

There is a lot of propaganda being spread around from organizations saying that they are protecting Littleton while they are only protecting thier own interest similiar to what they did to Andrews Crossing. That left us with the unsightly car dealership. The Fletcher Family has served Littleton and Westford for many years providing us with recreational opportunities and jobs for our families. No developer can provide guarantees from leases before a piece is officially declared commercial as no company will commit to such an agreement. The nonsense that the opponents suggest is ludicrous asking for exact traffic numbers and signed leases.
We need to have some of the amenities these types of developments provde like the Day Care just did. It fits the Green Inititive that so many people believe in and are trying to sell us today. Why should we all drive to Acton and Westford for good restaurants, small retail stores, better prices and spend more money on gas to get them, forget supporting our local economy? Others are asking us to save the farm. What farm? The farm hasn't produced anything of any significance for several years. The Town of Littleton passed on it more than 4 years ago when it had first option to buy it as it realized that it had no significance in the overall plan of saving Open Space. No one challenged the decision then; not Conservation, not Conservation Trust, not Open Space, not farmers, not the State, not Alex McCurdy, not Friends of the Common and so on and so on.
It was okay to let the Fletcher Family have it to expand the entrance to thier Tube Park. Now a few people want it or at least a piece of it in return for thier support. Some our our own elected officials one of which started this whole idea of acquiring 5-10 acres of land from all the local farms.
It isn't consistent with what this Town has been doing or the plan to connect all the other parcels to create a green belt for all of us to enjoy. So some elected officials have reverted to bribary or arm twisting. Is this what we as a community have become? Is this what we have allowed our elected officials to get away with? We see it at the State and National level, do we have to see it here?
Stop this in the bud. Vote this piece on its merit alone without the pressure from abutters with self serving interests and elected officials trying to get re-elected. Think what you need from the Town instead of driving to other Towns to get it each day. Think how the Fletcher family has treated you and the enviroment thus far. Think which Town you want to spend your tax dollars in.
