Isn't this supposed to be a capella? #1 you're using music. Are people not reading the rules?

that seems about as unfair as to what they did to last weeks number #1 person with the MOST Votes "Buddy" they disqualified him...because his song wasn't done by the original artist ...aren't we talking about the same thing here.. "Rules"

i didn't know anyone got disqualified, but there were a few people trying to get away with random song they DON'T play on the station AT ALL. basically, people just need to read the rules, you're allowed to have back up music!!!!!!!!! if you don't you don't. doesn't mean you're a better or worse singer. HELLO PEOPLE lmao a lot of the a capellas are WAY off anyways, the music prolly woulda HELPED hehehehehe

1. HOW TO QUALIFY. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY! Two ways to qualify...
First way, starting Monday, March 16, 2009, email in your 2.5 minute YouTube video link of you singing, solo, your favorite 99.3 The Vibe song to audition to webmaster@993thevibe.com. Duos and group performances will be automatically disqualified; only solo performances will be considered. No professional singers (individuals who are monetarily compensated for singing performance) will be accepted, amateurs only.
Second way, attend one of the 99.3 The Vibe Idol Audition Call... Monday, March 23, 2009, and Wednesday, March 25, 2009, from 7AM to 8AM (E.S.T.) or Tuesday, March 24, 2009, and Thursday, March 26 from 5PM to 6PM (E.S.T.) at the 99.3 The Vibe studios. (located at The Free Lance-Star building, 616 Amelia St., Fredericksburg).
No camera necessary. 99.3 The Vibe personnel will record your 2.5 minutes video of you singing acapella.

Each Friday, for four weeks, we'll pick ten (10) videos and place the links up on 993thevibe.com for listeners to watch and vote for their favorite. Each Monday morning, John Blaze will announce the weekend's Top 2 vote getters who will then advance to the Burg Idol Finale on April 24, 2009 at Box Seats in Massaponax, starting at 7:00PM (E.S.T.). Voting begins at 10:00AM (E.S.T.) each Friday and ends at 11:59PM (E.S.T.) each Sunday. One (1) Wild Card will be selected each week by The Vibe staff and advance to the finale. The Wild Card will be selected from the remaining eight (8) auditions from that weekend and be announced Monday afternoon with Tony B.

Wow people, chill out! It does not say a capela in the rules anywhere. It says SOLO, which means one person, and no professionals, which means, well you should know that one

it says they will record a 2.5 acapella, doesn't say it HAS to be acapella. if it HAD to be, they would have mentioned it explicitly.

993 the vibe will record your 2.5 minutes of video singing acapella... Or u can send in audition u tube video. Some of you need to stay busy and quit making a good thing bad, this is a amateurs contest...as if you couldn't tell expecially by last weeks winners, and thats exactly what it is sounding like by some. I bet its a contestant that is afraid of a little competition! Save your nasty comments for the judges at the end of this contest.Im sure they will pick who is who then:)

seems these comments are pretty tame actually. no name calling ect. if none of you are in the competition then really y do u care??????

Well goldie you know how it is u see they posted the rules again they would do anything to eliminate any competition for themselves(she needed it ) let the iggnorance show on that one.. and leave it to the judges at the end I agree with just a vote...Thank you.

Not sure why last weeks winner by votes got disqualified last week .. very nice to hear a young man with the best voice. Hope to hear him again there still time to do it again. My whole office voted for that one! Good Luck burg idol.

The girls from this week are way better than the girl who won last week! Good Job ladies.

Welp, that kinda stinks, I guess I along with one other contestant missed the whole "no back up music" thing. If this ends up being the case I suppose I will just have to try again next week, no worries! :D Keep up the good work fellow idols!! :D

#6 ALL THE WAY..TRALESE GIRL YOU KILLED THAT SONG.. THAT WAS VERY WORTH WATCHING!! DONT 4G3T #6!!

Although I do feel a majority of these comments are pretty asinine. Firstly, I can see how people thought the audition was supposed to be acapella since the real idol on tv does that, this contest is not to be confused with that one. I do agree that rules must be followed thought in order to treat this contest fairly. What if last week's guy won, then the other contestants I'm sure would have attacked him on that technicality. I suppose they did that to avoid any controversy. I happened to like the girl last week. I thought her voice was engaging and unique and she did a good job staying in tune- which I'm sure is hard with no music. As far as the guy, he was definitely good too. I wish he picked a different song because the runner up chosen was not good at all. This week- My favorite is Tralese. She did a great job. Runner Up is Lindsey. She may not have had the power Tralese had but she's unique and different. I like unique ;) Good Luck to all and sorry this post is so long! LOL

I'll say this: If Backup music was not allowed, they wouldn't post the video don't you think? With that being said, I will not vote for anyone with backup music because this is supposed to be a contest about who can sing. Music tends to distract people from the person's actual voice and personal rhythm. A real singer, professional or otherwise should be able to keep a beat with or without music. What happens if you're on stage and your beat cuts out like Ms. Ashlee Simpson not too long ago. If you can't sing, then why are people paying to see you?

So this is the Buddy who sung last week, but i'm not sure who is posting comments with my name in it.. maybe we have the same nickname? lol, cool if so, but yeahhh.

I believe number 5 & 7 were flawless. I hope you recieve your votes on pure talent. You honestly should leave this fred idol behind and move on to the real thing. These votes have nothing to do with your abilities. I will say however that some have a little to much to say about last weeks auditions, and if you believe in yourself as much as your opinion you might have your face up there. It also says to pick from the list of artists, and if some of the songs picked were not played on the vibe, they were subjected to that list. Good luck to everyone this week there is some great talent. I would like to know for sure if anyone could tell me, who last weeks picks were.

Hey Yasmin? aka Fellow Contestant.. you type a lot like the random people leaving the rude comments last week about me, from the "chills." all the way to the smiley faces.

Anyways, I tried to actually message you on myspace and apologize for the people that were defending me, and causing actually to keep it going.. because I don't know about you, but I'm just trying to sing, and let people hear me.

There is no popularity contest, because in the end. the votes wont matter.

I agree with Fellow Contestant Tralese you should really try out again you are one of the best in this group. If it was not all up to the votes Im sure the radio crew would pick you. Just to clear things up: Buddy~ I did not write a comment about chills. That was Christina who made it very clear who she was last week. Of course being my best friend, she's going to root for me. Just like everyone else who wrote a mean comment about me last week, when they were in fact, rooting for you. My feelings aren't hurt~it comes with the territory.

Do I think I'm a good singer? Yes I do. Otherwise I wouldn't have tried out. You think you're a good singer too. Otherwise you wouldn't have tried out either. If you knew about what I do and go through everyday just so I can sing, there wouldn't be any sarcasm dripping in your comment to me. Those that know me understand what I do just to get heard. But you are not to blame because again, you don't know me.

With that being said, I love love love #6! She is definitely the one with the chops this week. Second goes to #3. Good luck to both of you ladies! I got my work cut out for me! Whew!

I agree with you when you say the comment thing wasn't a good idea because people don't know how to give constructive criticism anymore. I wish people were honest instead of trying to bash everyone. That's not a good way to compete. I thought it was going to be you and me until my friend called me Monday morning and told me they didn't announce your name. You have a beautiful voice and maybe, just maybe we could cool the hater's fire out with a collabo? Do you write at all? I agree with Yasmin. Though this is a singing contest, alot of these people are ameturs anyway. By suggesting what they might try instead of just telling them they plain suck ( even if they do or don't), would be a better way to approach it rather than bashing them for even trying. Especially cause half of everyone bashing won't even get up there and do it themselves.

But to those going to try out, or ones that tried out this week and last week. I encourage you to keep trying. As long as you think you got it, don't let anyone tell ya differently. There is always room for improvement. :) Don't let people's harsh critisism keep ya from trying at least.
