Holland has a long tradition of being a city that values it's citizens, especially the smallest and most vulnerable among us. The decision to deny Right to Life a float in the parade is not reflective of our community's values or beliefs.
Tulip Time has has always been a beautiful occasion to celebrate our city, it's people and it's traditions, so it will be with regret that my family and I will not participate in the festival, or support it's sponsors. Everything represents someone's issues or opinions, and Tulip Time no longer represents mine as long as this ban is enforced.

I happen to be adopted. Right to life isn't and shouldn't be considered a political issue. There are many children that wish that they had someone to call Mom & Dad. Sadly, too many children are never born at all. There are many families that are looking for children to adopt. I find adoption as the greatest gift that you can give to a child.

I think the Tulip Time officials have the right to deny any float they want. They are neither a political or religious organization and it would appear want to remain that way. By allowing any kind of "issue sensitive" float in the parade things could get stirred up in a hurry. I would ask if people would be bothered if a Planned Parenthood float were allowed in the parade? Remember if we're going to be fair, it goes both ways.

When public monies are involved under the 503(c) code, the law is very clear, and it applies equally. There was a change in the Tulip Time application status, and this is what most people seem to be ignoring or forgetting. Ask yourself-- if planned parenthood was as popular here as it is in many other localities, would you support or deny their right to display?

this is ridiculous... the right to life float has been in the tulip time parade for 25 years! How do these people think they can just not allow them to be in it? STUPID!!! Holland is becoming unfair in every way!
