As a student driver of a High School in Elizabeth City, I think that it is an invasion of privacy. I under stand if we are there to watch, or if we were there to give them permission. To think that they are searching my car while I am in class is an annoyance. I do not do drugs.

I think it's a good idea that school officials take a step foward to keep our kids safe from drugs and whatever else that may be in that vehicle. If you aren't doing anything wrong you should not have a problem with your vehicle being searched. I also think that the vehicle that gets a positive hit by the dog the student should be drug tested and if test positive they should be suspended and go through some kind of psychological review like when you go through when you get a DUI. I commend the administration for wanting to keep their school drug free and our kid safe from illegal substances.

My child goes to a high school and they said people are always coming to school high and hung over. I like the testing of cars, I will take my childs car away if I find any in it. I have that right to search anytime. They need to go to the bathrooms during the day and you will come out smelling like you just smoked pot. The dogs need to go inside the school and start walking in the bathroom, there would be a lot of people going home for 6 days. Oh well, and this "tobacco free" is nothing but a sign. There are teachers breaking the rules also, how many days do they get sent home? Laws are for everyone.

These are children we are talking about. Allowing random drug searches on school grounds will only lead to torn up families. What happens when "john" has 3 dimes bags on him, roughly a quarter ounce 7 grams, and gets caught with them but because they are bagged separate its now up to the discretion of law enforcement to treat it as either simple possession or possession with intent to distribute. low and behold if your child gets nabbed the only one you can blame is yourself for endorsing the search of minors. Everyone thinks finding the person bringing it into the school stops the problem. It doesn't!!!!! It only opens up the spot to the next kid willing to bring it onto school grounds god forbid it be your misguided child but i know you'll never see it my way until it finally is and you're bailing "john" out of jail and now he can't get housing assistance student aid and many of the other things even a convicted killer/rapist would be eligible for.
