i used to volunteer at a children's hospital and we had a couple PS2s in the activity room. i would play games against these sick kids, usually around 10-13 years old, and whoop them every time and taunt them during and after.
they loved this. this is how they play games with their friends, and in the midst of all they're going thru, they want something familiar. i thought about politely losing, but all that would be a discredit to us both. they knew that i was playing for real, so when they won, it was a real victory and something they earned, not just something they got for free because they were sick.
Ok I have to ask the real question - What kind of sick? Hit 3 home runs for me today gipper, make a wish will be here Tuesday Cancer sick? Or The night time sniffling sneezing coughing aching stuffy head I have a math test flu kind of sick?
Cancer - Hands down let the kid win and keep it close. play hard but play to lose.
Flu - Wipe the floor with the little Farris Beuller Wanna-Be and teach him that sometimes, even when sick, you've got to suck it up and get the WIN.

Dude, against a 10 yo I'd get my a$$ handed to me . . I suck at almost all video games except WoW and Tetris. LOL

I would lose (on purpose) by a lot, then throw my controller, scream in the microphone how much he's hacking the game, threaten to hack his Live Account, leave him bad feedback, and ask all my friends to leave him bad feedback, then never talk to him ever again. Just like most other Xbox Live players.

Being dominated in a video game is not fun, so the goal would seem to be to play in such a way that if you are beating the other player, it is by a little bit, and they are learning from you how to play better. But playing FTW while mocking a sick person is kinda funny.
What makes you think you'll control the game even if you play FTW?
of course ^^
Lose on purpose - by a wide margin to make it obvious that you were playing to lose.
I said Play FTW !!! [2]
I said Play FTW !!!
Obviously...
Play FTW and mock your opponent during and/or after the game.
Thank you so much for this post, it was very insightful!
so do i
I agree with you

it's a good life lesson (in my opinion)
