Do you believe global warming is a threat to the planet?

Wow! I am stunned so many people actually believe global warming is a political issue! That is very alarming because global warming is a REAL issue, and it is OUR problem, and will continue to be for our CHILDREN and so on. It is a proven fact that temperatures have been rising all over the globe, you can check for yourself against historical temperature charts. Even tree rings show you previous climates (warmer & wetter makes thicker rings). The signs are everywhere. And while it may not seem like a problem because is seems to happen little by little, if you looked at the overall view you would be worried. Some results of global warming? Worsening allergies & asthma -- animal species dying off (WE are an animal species remember) -- Flooding and land loss (some countries stand to ultimately lose a SIGNIFICANT amount of their land, ask them then if its real) -- The permanently frozen layer of soil deep down (Permafrost) is thawing, that means sink holes, mud slides, etc. It also means that BODIES long buried may begin to release diseases like SMALLPOX that we thought were no longer a worry -- which brings me to VECTORS, disease bearing critters (mosquitoes, rodents, etc) every year it gets warmer, every year the habitat for these vector expands into new territory bringing with them new, exotic, deadly diseases -- there will be GENETIC CHANGES in species as they adapt to survive the emerging environment (this isn't Sci-Fi folks, it's nature) -- believe it or not the weight of ice caps on tall mountains compresses these mountains, with the ice melting the mountains have experienced new growth in height -- INTENSE WEATHER CHANGES- hurricanes, forest fires, floods, ALL have been attributed in part to global warming and have been getting worse each year and will continue to do so.... these are just a FEW of the effects of global warming. Ignorance may be bliss, but it can also be deadly ...
