Vote in last week's caption contest

It's safe to ssume this one's not the brightest coin in the cash drawer.

I guess the shoe really is on the other foot now.

I think it may be worse than before--still taking our money with even less transparency.

Obviously, the caption-picking staff continues to favor the obvious rather than the best. Judging from last week's picks, the sooner you get yours in the better, as the staff loses all critical thought after reading a few of these. Like too many wines at a wine tasting, I guess.

Ooops! It should read "odious rather than the best."

Steve, if you think you are the best, you are sadly delusional. On the up side, the "Land of Steve from AG" must be a really interesting place for you to live. Also, if you remember the comments almost a month, Brian already gave that tid bit of advise.

Thanks, Nash, guys like Steve here were breast fed well into their 20s and think they're entitled to the world on a silver platter...I explained how to win the contest to him as well as another guy a few weeks back and hey guess what, Steve, I got one of my winning captions in the mail today! Be smart, learn your audience, pander to them, and watch the goods roll in....
However, if you continue to submit crap then I guess we'll get to keep listening to you whine because the real world doesn't seem to agree with the self absorbed "I'm number ONE" world you live in...why don't you go ahead and accuse the Tribune of cheating again? Let me guess you submitted something about syphilis or cancer this time thinking its God's gift to comedy???

I love reaction! Thanks boys!

The cartoon this time reminded me of the fun they had jumping out of buildings on 9/11/01. I thought of some great yuks for that!

I know I'm just giving him what he wants, response... I'd like to take a moment and apologize to everyone out there who ever gave Steve Schumann who lives in Arroyo Grande the time of day. Obviously he has no sense of decency and I am done indulging his childish attention seeking behavior. His last remark is unworthy of any thinking American who alive on September 11, 2001 when thousands of people were murdered by cowards who didn't have the courage to live with themselves after they committed their heinous crime. For anyone who would like to thank Steve personally for his comments, he has gone ahead and posted his email address and made it laughably easy to track him down in today's information age. That is unless of course he has posted under a false name. To all, feel free to thank Mr. Schumann for his commentary. After all, he is just looking for the attention he hasn't been able to garner through more appropriate channels.

I'm with you, Nash. Done with this peckerwood...real smooth, Steve. I was living in New York with my ex on 911 and the only reason we're still here is because of mis-setting an alarm clock for 6pm rather than 6am. You seriously need a new hobby, try jumping in front of busses if you need a rush. To everyone else on here who actually puts in an honest effort on this contest, keep up the good work :)

That's all I'm asking: Reward an honest effort honestly. Don't put other people down for their opinions and thoughts because they aren't like you. I have no idea why the Tribune would select three banal captions over many more that were better (the Turkeys Talking one is an example). You can see all the responses, and can you honestly say that the three they picked were best? No way. The winner misused a bad pun, and IMHO was the worst of the three.
Thanks for playing! Steve Schumann -- Arroyo Grande -- theschu2@aol.com

That winning turkey was me, I have a nice stack of winning entries built up here. Your ED idea was crap, grow up

An as for you saying don't put other people down, I'd put you down like a farmer putting a sick animal down after your 911 comments saying you have many ideas for great yucks...I hope nothing of yours ever gets published. Your comment there shines right through to your true character

That was a turkey of a caption, all right. More foul than fowl, I'd say. And as we have discussed here, and y'all have agreed, the top three captions and the eventual winner have nothing to do with talent, taste, or wit. If you get your caption in so the folks can see it before getting burned out, and you either have a computer that can rack the votes or a bunch of users that like you no matter what you write, you're a winner. That means nothing. Frame your win. Definitely be proud of it, but it's contrived and meaningless. Brainless the Caption King! Oh just think about it. 9/11 was really what I thought of when I saw the cartoon. Why are these falling bodies smiling? What could be so funny? And my mind went to the people jumping from the bombed buildings in NYC. A lot of people choose to forget or minimize the threat on our freedom. But that's what I thought of. Sorry to open up a bad wound, and everyone should be a little more sensitive to each other. The name-calling is out of line. And registering my email address on a bunch of websites to flood my email with garbage is pretty lame (Hi, Nash!). How should one respect opinions of others who obviously do not respect themselves? Take care. Steve Schumann -- Arroyo Grande -- theschu2@aol.com

Steve, thank you for assuming I flooded your email. You are completely wrong in your assumption. I merely pointed out to anyone who wanted to read it that they could send private comments about your public comments to you if they wanted to. If someone choose to flood your email, it was not me. I am sorry if you have been the victim of some kind of prank, this was in no way my intention.

WOW, you guys went a little over board with this whole thing. Lighten up, all of you, it's just a caption contest, it's just for fun... Pat Smith... PSmith342@yahoo.com

Pot calling the kettle black there, Steve...respecting other's opinions and here you say there's no wit or wisdom in anything anyone who gets picked submits and accusing the Tribune of cheating last week and now you say everyone else is flooding the vote count and on and on, yet if you were to win you would call it a great blow for justice...and now accusing Nash of flooding your email with junk...heck its like being a kid again, go tattle to the teacher because the kid next to you got a gold star on his art project and you only got a green one....

They do go on and on! It's funny what roaches do when the light comes on!

Got you again, Nash! Made you post!

Love y'all! Keep it up! Or, as in this week's cartoon, when you hit the ground, get up smilin'!

I'm sorry I played that cruel trick on you, Steve. How could I let myself be so petty?
