Should High School Baseball Switch to Wood Bats?

Baseball was always play with a wooden bat and should stay that way.

Non-wood bats make great hitters out of OK hitters, and I think that that makes all aspects of the game better, both for offense and defense. The offense part is obvious, so here's how it helps the team in the field:
    1. The pitcher can't get sloppy because the sweet spot of a metal or composite bat is huge, so a sloppy pitcher will get hit hard every time out.
    2. The catcher can get experience tagging people out at home because farther-hit balls increase the opportunity for plays at the plate.
    3. The first baseman gets more experience with pickoff moves because hitters get on base.
    4. The second baseman gets more experience with relays and double-plays.
    5. The third baseman has to have fast reflexes to make the plays in the hot corner.
    6. The shortstop has to have a lot of range to get to the hard-hit ground balls to the left side of the infield. These can turn into more double-plays. There are also more relays from the outfield.
    789. The outfield has actual work to do.

So the non-wood bats allow for players who will never play at a level above high school to get experience hitting the ball hard and fielding hard-hit balls. Wood bats do not give the same opportunities.

A broken maple bat will kill you faster than a round ball!

Wood bats would separate the good hitters from the bad.

Bring back the wood. The "ping" of the bat does nothing as an expression. The only acceptable expression to a long-time fan is the "CRACK" of the bat.

So everyone thinks that aluminum and composite bats are dangerous but the statistics show something different. If you check with Little League as a gage you will see that in the history of the sport there were something like nine fatalities from balls hit off bats (crazy to even write that) and only two of those were off of non-wood bats. Now I know that there have been many more seasons with wood than non-wood, but people propogate the thinking that these bats are killing kids and it's just not true. Given that colleges are not changing from composite and aluminum we shoudl have the same standard in High Schools to get the kids ready to play in college.

    My two cents

I think yes , with the arrival of the bamboo bats I think the bat's could last the season.
