Widmore! Widmore! Widmore! Widmore! Widmore! Widmore! Widmore! I'm sure the vote wasn't that close, I think Anna voted multiple time!

    I demand a recount!

You guys said in the podcast that maibe Ben and Widmore were both evil. How about.... they are both good? My guess is that just maibe there is a third party we haven't met yet, but they are the bad guys in the war, the enemies of both Widmore and Ben. Widmore and Ben both have the island interests at heart, I think :)

Widmore, if he is telling the truth, or at least mostly truth, has earned a few points for me. He seems to have an unpleasant personality, but evil.. hmm dunno. I think Keamy went nutso on him and he didn't anticipate that. Because, if he wanted the island as Ben said, then what would be the point of Plan A: only extracting Ben Linus?

But, there is also something to say in defence of Ben killing Locke. I think he saved Locke's soul (with suicide being a unforgivable sin and all). And he KNOWS Locke will be resurrected. The reason I think that is because of Bens comment to Jill 'Mrs. Lovett' the Butcher: Keep him save Jill, because if you don't... everything we 're about to do won't matter at all". Sounds like he wants Locke alive on the Island for the coming war, just like Widmore.

Your medical comments were very interesting but the fact ( or plot point ) John Locke was brought back from the dead seems a bigger deal than the bones or all the other things you guys talked about (which btw a bit dark) as the whole story line took. Love your perspective and I listened to as many podcasts as I can find because frustration drove me to get some answers. I have decided to make a list of all the questions and keep track of how many get answered. Thanks for making this a real two dimentional experiance its not just sit and watch a hour of TV, now i feel to have connected to millions of ppl. and love to hear their takes on Lost. al

I think Widmore chooses his words properly to give the illusion that he's not lying to you, but Ben is a proven liar. Time after time, Ben lies. Yet for some reason, like batter housewives, we always return to him because there must be a way for him to spin his words, so we can trust him again. But you can not trust Ben.

That fact that Ben tricked Widmore into leaving the island is a great example of who you can trust more.

My instincts lead me to trust Widmore more than Ben. Some shady dealings and bad treatment of Desmond don't really endear Whidmore to me, but it seems most of my distrust of him in regard to the island is based on things Ben has said. And I trust Ben less. Also, based on Ben's telling John after he had killed him that he would miss him I don't believe that Ben ever thought he would encounter John again convincing me that Ben killed John out of pure evil (in spite of what I am sure he will tell John later.)

sorry, just as I posted that I remembered how Widmore broke that other guy's neck... which kind of makes him a bit more untrustworthy. Although that other guy did give away a lot about the whereabouts of the camp...

I think when it comes to Widmore and Ben there are all shades of gray, not just simple black and white.
But if I had to choose which one I would trust, I would probably choose Widmore.
I believe the writers have made Widmore come off mean so far so the viewers can all automatically assume that he is the "bad guy" in this war, that way when it is revealed (in my opinion it will be) that he is actually the "good guy", we will be very surprised.
Also, if I had to work for one of these two, I would definitely choose Widmore. Ben is not loyal to those who trust him, such as when he told Mikhail to kill Greta and Bonnie in the Looking Glass, I think there were other examples of him betraying those who work for him but I can't recall them at the moment.
Athough we have no proof that Widmore does not do that, we do know that he really cares about Penny at least, I personally believe that we would not be as backstabbing.

Although I love the Ben Linus character, I have to throw my vote to Widmore. All we know about Widmore is from what Ben said and we all know that Ben is a liar. What we have seen of Widmore is a pretty over-the-top protective instinct. For example, the way he treated Desmond who "was not good enough" for his daughter, the way he detained Sun for "disrespecting" him, and the way he snapped that guy's neck who was willing to tell the "strangers" about the whereabouts of Richard Alpert.

Got to go with Widmore, I am sure with will come back to bite me but Ben just seems so shady I cant vote for him here. Course Lost is never what you expect so we will see.

Feel free to email me regarding any questions about my theory.

I voted that I trust Ben Linus more than I do Charles Widmore. There are many reasons why I feel this way. Ben moved the island willingly, and that confused Widmore. Ben did it knowing he may never return to the only place he wanted to be. He sacrificed that.

He also killed Locke, I believe, because if Locke were to kill himself, it would have been a mortal sin. There is a fair amount of religion being brought up in recent episodes, and it would seem he needed to be killed in order to be resurrected.

I think that Ben is *spoiler alert if you haven't read all the Harry Potter books, stop reading this response* like Snape, when he killed Dumbledore. He had to do it. It doesn't make him a bad guy.

I think both these nutters have delusions of granduer. Wouldnt trust either one. Now they are great characters and I love the show down, but both are full of moral ambiguity.

(Actually the biggest reason I dislike Widmore is the crappy way he has treated Desmond.)

Go Whidmore! I think almost everything Ben has ever said has turned out to be a lie. Don't get me wrong, I think he is the best character to ever appear on television, but I trust him about as far as I can throw him.
