For those who think breast feeding should be done completely in private, it makes me think you have never breast fed a baby. I have tried to do it in private. When a baby is hungry, a baby is hungry. So if you are in public, there are very few places to go. I was in a restaurant, so the only place was the bathroom. Would you like to eat your dinner sitting on a toilet? Then why should my baby have to?
By the time I had my third, I had it down to a fine art. I could breast feed right in front of you without you even having a clue. But there is a learning curve... and it is the most natural thing in the animal kingdom... feeding your young.
I think one of the people who voted to *never* do it in public was sitting next to me on the airplane with my baby once. On take off and landing the baby needs to feed or else all hell will break loose. My baby would not take a bottle or pacifier, nope that girl loved some breast. So I paid the extra bucks for a first class seat...more room to whip it out and cover things up... trying to be considerate of my fellow passengers. Let's just say my breast was jumpy that day. It would *not* stay covered no matter what I tried. It was either show a *little bit of breast* or smoother the baby in tons of blankets. So the guy next to me saw a little breast. In my mind, big deal. It was Mardi Gras, he should have given me some beads.
My point... yes I have one, despite my rambling... is that breasts are not just some sort of sexual object. Breasts have a biological function, and research shows that breast is best. So ladies please... feed your baby when you need to. And everyone else... you see just as much during prime time tv, so get over yourself.
