There is no need for it, and more important issues for our legislature to work on (like the economy.) We already have a state law and federal law, and don't need it added to the constitution.
It's about time the government did something moral. However, it is a shame the government has to step in and make a law when God already defined marriage in the Bible as the union between a man and a woman thousands of years ago. He also said be fruitful and multiply. How can the human race multiple when men are marrying men and women are marrying women? It is impossible. For those of you who are thinking I hate gays, you are wrong. I don't hate the person, just the intentional sin in their life of homosexuality. Aaron Lucier has already commented that we don't need this because there are more important things for our legislature to work on like the economy. Well wouldn't you know it, Jesus spoke in the Bible more about matters of finances (not necessarily always cash itself) than he did about any other subject so it must be a very important issue. I would say if Americans would live by the Bible, we would be in a lot better shape than we are right now. As long as Americans continue to ignore Almighty God and reject the Bible as his truthful word and road map to life, then America will continue to decline. Just sit back and remember my words when America falls flat on its face.
PTL!!! Well said, Steve Smart. God gave us the 10 commandments in the Bible and they are clearly stated plain and simple. Believers and Christians let's keep them that way.

In the Constitution, it says that EVERYONE is created equal. So that also means Gays and Lesbians! They are people too. They shouldn't be judged for what their sexuality is. If they want to get married then so be it!
Karen
The word "marriage" has always--from the beginning of time--meant "the relationship between 1 man and 1 woman who are husband and wife". Why change the meaning of a word just to benefit about 10 percent of the USA population. Yes, all people are created equal but that doesn't mean the meaning of a word should be changed. Come up with another word to describe same sex unions, but it is NOT a Marriage--never has been and never will be even if some people want to call it that.
I agree 100%!! this needs to be made into a law of the land. 1 Man + 1 Woman = a Marriage --- BTW, while they are at it, make ENGLISH our national language!
Everyone keeps rendering their interpretation of the Bible. Got news for you people, the Bible is man's interpretation of what they THINK God says. Last time I looked, there's no one alive that was alive way back then. You can get 5 people together, and you're going to get 5 different interpretations of the Bible.
The US Constitution says EVERYONE is created equal. You can't have it both ways. If gay marriage is illegal, then straight marriage should be illegal too.
But then again, I feel that a marriage license should have to be renewed just like a drivers license. Right now, I know of 4 people that profess to be Christians that are having affairs with someone they are not married to. I thought that was against the Bible's teaching. Evidently, the teachings in the Bible are for everyone else.
Currently, in the US, divorce rate is nearing, if it hasn't already hit, 50%. And that's one man and one woman. If I remember correctly, marriage is supposed to be "till death do us part." Can any of you "situational Christians" tell me where it says in the Bible that marriage is just till you get tired of each other and then go on to the next partner? I know some gays that have been with the same partner for 10, 12, even 20 years. That's a whole lot more than some of you straights. If nothing else, let gays get married, and then if it doesn't work out, make them go thru the expense and trouble of going thru a divorce. But then, only the lawyers would be getting rich.
I want to know how it affects your marriage because I happen to love another man. I've heard people say that they don't like seeing 2 men kiss in public. I don't either. But I also don't like seeing a man and a woman kiss in public either. If gay marriage is illegal, then straight marriage should be illegal too.
If you Christians are so worried about the santity of marriage, then why don't you enact and amendment to ban divorce.
marriage is a covenant between a man, woman, and God. God mad adam and eve. not adam and steve. you can change the state law but you will never
change God's law.
