How will Rockey be able to get out. In order for him to get out the fish will have to get out of his tank, open the door and walk on land to get to a water source without getting hit by a car it just wont happen. I say just leave him be hes been in this guys house for ten years and now they are just saying to get rid of him. If this fish wanted to get outside so bad dont you think he would have done it already. This guy got Rockey when it was legal and he hasnt caused any problems. This man loves Rockey like a real pet like a dog or a cat. What if someone came up to your door one day and said they need to kill your pet because he has became illegel and has done no wrong. Its stupid Rockey wont do anything just let him be. LET THE FISH BE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel that chris should be left alone. He is doing nothing wrong. There are way worse things going on in the world that need to be worried about. let the poor man continue enjoying his pet.good luck chris, I hope everything works out for you.
There is more to it than losing this fish! It is claiming that the state has every right to posses items found in your home.The young man purchased the fish when it was legal, there should be a grandfather clause here! Look at it this way, there has been certain species of dogs that have been named to be people killers. So why is the state allowing these dogs to be in New York? I have fresh water fish and I to are very fond of them. Having them for only five years I have grown very attached to them. This is very wrong on what they are doing!!! The DEC is worried about the fisheries yet the State allows people to own dogs that attack people? I think they should allow this young man to keep his fish, ten years of raising a fish is very difficult. He had brought up very strong arguments as far as the fish not being able to survive in the cold climate, it does not seem to me he had any idea's of releasing this fish into any tributaries. And again I stress!!!! There is more to this than the DEC killing this persons pet!

Let the guy keep the fish, there is no harm if it is in the tank! The DEC is ridiculous if they want to kill something they just found out about. If that was my fish I would be doing everything I could to save it.

He has had the fish for 10 years so that proves he's a responsible keeper. Let him keep the the fish,have DEC. come and photo document it for I.D. purpose
then log it like a dog license. When it dies turn the remains over to them for I.D. and everyone should be satisfied..Very easy and simple..
right if he got it when it isent a threat and has had him for 10 years and hasent killed him or give him away or put it in a lake it seams like hes going to keep him let him hes had him for 10 years its like lossing a dog to him !! think about it ino its the law but hes had it for ages its like lossing a close freind i bet some 1 on www.monsterfishkeepers.com will take him off u mate good look rehoming him if u carnt keep him :(
