FACEOFF POLL: Is the closing of the “Terrorist Detention Facility” in Guantanamo Bay a good thing for America?

WOULD SOMEONE WHO THINKS THIS WILL BENEFIT US, PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW? WITH EVERYTHING GOING ON THE WORLD OVER, DOESN'T THIS SEND THE MESSAGE THAT WE ARE SOFT ON PUNISHMENT?

Well, now, let's see...Soft on punishment? That would be us! Roger on that. Pretty much do whatever you want-fat chance that you will get what you are due. Interesting how opinions are formed though. For me, many facts are needed to draw a conclusion. Anyone out there have lots of facts on Guantanamo? I can't seem to find many, other than on the usual news outlets. When you watch the news, do you feel informed, or have more questions than before you watched the "report"? Wonder why we need to transport them to Cuba (that's where "gitmo" is located) , anyway. Perhaps somewhere locally would be better. The locals who caused the mess would be more readily available, and in greater numbers. Maybe some of our finest could be re-hired as consultants with the new stimulus money! Pile-On Consultants might be a catchy name for the new start-up company--Financed, of course, with my hard earned tax money! Bottom line, we do not have the facts necessary to draw this conclusion. Soft on crime is what we call it when we fail to take action against Bush Administration officails who broke the writ of habeas courpus and sent every Arab-American they could wrangle up (a slight dramatization) and send them to Cuba, just so that they could be tourtured again and again. Give the inmates fair trials and those who are innocent should be let go.
