Has the company you work for laid off employees in the last six months?

I was associated with the closing of Carraway hospital. I worked for HOAA, LLC, (Hematology Oncology Associates of Alabama) HOAA, leased the radiation oncology department from the hospital. When the hospital announced that it would be closing, the practice I was associated with for over three years had no choice but to close. I was employed as a medical dosimetrist there in the radiation oncology department. The contractor that provided maintenance on the linear accelerator, RS&A, Inc, headquartered in Rural Hall, NC. was in need of a director of sales and marketing. I was recommended for the job by the engineer. I add that he made this recommendation to the company president without even asking me. I had sales experience, and was going to be unemployed soon, didn't want to relocate, so I called RS&A. I was hired, and now cover the SE territory. This company is hiring! We are doing better in poor economic times, due to the the fact that like Carraway, many hospitals are having difficulties financially. This company provides better service at a better price, and saves the hospital on average 30 percent on maintenance costs. The company is looking to hire and train eight engineers this year. We have been getting calls to the office in NC, asking for quotes on service contracts due to the high cost of maintaining these complex machines. Most recently, a hospital in Marshall county has used our services. I have received e-mails from people in the industry asking for my contact information to pass on to their administrators, CFO's, and CEO's. This past week I was in Georgia, and Virginia giving presentations to groups there. Hospitals are looking for ways to save money, and this 14 year old company is giving them that option, to the point of this small company growing . . . . and hiring!
