Should Michael Phelps face criminal charges for pot smoking?

Ok, first of all if he didn't get caught in the act then how can anyone charge him with anything? So, they have pictures..and that means what? He didn't get caught in the act or in possession of pot so what can they do..Nothing!

i honestly cant name 10 people at my high school that doesnt smoke pot... everyone does it and its not a big deal. He has won 8 gold medals and most people only dream of getting one. i think he deserves a little freedom!

No one should get busted for smoking pot, Phelp's isn't an exception.

If anything Phelps should be praised for being a human-being. All of America’s athletic and silver screen superstars are put on a "higher" standard for the public viewing. Such a huge percentage of our population smokes pot, and new law reforms are making it less of a criminal act everyday. If I were him I would step up as a forerunner in taking a revolutionary step in helping American citizens regain the ability to make decisions for them. Personally I do not smoke, but I don't believe in punishing those who would use this natural herb to benefit from its many medical benefits. Everyone needs to step back and look at Phelps for what he really is, human. He is just as much so human as you or I. He should not be held to any higher standards of living than we face every day. We wake up daily with the choice to smoke pot or not, and, legal or not, people have, and always will, choose to benefit from the medical benefits of this plant. For the law of S. Carolina to want punish him for no more evidence than a picture is ridiculous. Retailers sell these pipes all around America with labeling for tobacco use only. There are many herbs and plants able to be smoked to produce pleasant experiences, and everyone has jumped to conclusions to make Phelps out to be this bad guy. I believe that the ones out to persecute him are the jealous ones wishing that could do something better with their lives than their shitty existence. Get A Life!!!

i think the states legal system is fucked like who cares what goes on when your not at work, and how can you charge somebody for a picture, that absolutely ridiculous, there is so many pictures of my friends smoking pot, there not going to jail or getting charges or anything, i just think that the police in this country should be more focused on the people who are actually causing problems i.e. meth dealers and what not and take your focus off the pot smokers, barack obama admitted to smoking pot, does he go to jail or face charges i think not, well all im saying is that people are just mad because they got absolutely worked in swimming competitions by a stoner.

honestly... weed is illegal... does not matter if it is natural or not. it is illegal to do it... if you wanna do it, go to amsterdam... seriously. he's not any better than anyone else in the world... came from the same god everyone came from and is in the country where it is illegal... he needs to set a good example for children and everyone else if he wants to swim in the olympics... and needs to have the same exact punishment as everybody else that would get caught with drugs... What is legal or illegal is determined by the will of the people. Slavery was legal once, now its illegal. Laws change because people change. And believe me, People did change. Not only that we have a weed smoking President now, but we also are in an economic downturn.

Legalize weed, and the economy will be up and running again. No need to give all that money to criminals for selling something that most people buy anyway!

TAX weed, and here we go! No more expensive pain killers, no more over sized prison systems, plus a nice additional tax income, new jobs, and a smaller mafia... wow.. rules can change if you think about it a little...

I don't think Phelps should be praised and I honestly dont think pot should be illegal. But Phelps shouldn't be punished.. So he had a little fun big deal. I think pot is about as natural as it gets but we need to establish rules if it's going to be legal. Ex. People under 18 shouldn't be able to purchase pot without a legal guardian present. But hey we're all human

If we do legalize weed i worry that people particuarly children will b forced into smoking weed. And who wants 2 anyway? There is more shit in there than drugs people, and i hope all the ass wholes dumb enough 2 do it realize that its REALLY bad 4 u!!
