Your view on school taxes:

You need to take tha burden off the Home Owner they need to find another way to collect the tax or Lower the school budget they are getting to much find another way. WE ARE SUCKERS THE HOME OWNER1

Wow. The results of the poll are overwhelming. Even though it's not "scientific" 84% think school taxes are too high! That's got to say something. It'll be interesting in a few weeks to see which school budgets pass. The poll would indicate not many.

I'd like to see the way education is funded, changed from property based to income based. That way the burden is evenly distributed amongst a broader base.

I still think it is ridiculous that homeowners that do not have children or ones that spend money to put their children in private school have to pay high school taxes! When a child goes to a charter school, the tax dollars follow the child, when a child goes to private school, the dollars go to the public school....where do these extra dollars go?? There are many familes paying the schools system monies when their children are not there. I think school administrators make way too much money. I am an educator, I think it is so sad that the teachers make so much less than the admin. staff. I don't think a 6 figure salary is necessary when the community has to pay for it as well as pay for their childs education as well as other peoples children if you are in private school. Just because you own a home, you have to pay...is crazy!! I think if you are a renter with children in school, you need to also pay. I think home owners without children should be exempt and if your child goes to private school, monies should follow your children.

Of course the results are overwhelming. It's a "leading question". How about we ask Is your cell phone bill too expensive? Is gas too expensive? Are health care costs too expensive? Are groceries too expensive? Is fixing your car too expensive? Are new cars too expensive? Are houses too expensive? You get the point?

A leading question? Ok, the question was not difficult enough to confuse by misleading. If they asked the questions as such: Are school taxes too low? or Are School taxes too cheap? or Are you paying enough for school taxes? You would get the same results and you would hear laughter all over Vermont. In this present time, people are struggling with all costs. C'mon are you saying people are so ignorant they got mislead by the simple question about taxes? Do you really think people believe taxes are not high enough, but because of the question forgot they are inexpensive? Please.... it is a simple yes or no answer, I guess some people would say taxes are not too high, but then again they either have a vested interest, for example work for the school system and benefit from the taxes directly or have enough money in their pocket to want to spread the wealth in the form of taxes. But please don't LEAD people to believe this poll is not to be taken seriously because the people taking it are too mislead to understand what they are actually answering. ;)

One dollar would be too much. And absolutely it was a leading question. No question about it. People will always whine about paying too much in taxes. Do you really think anyone will say "Oh, gee, I would like to pay more". Sorry, but your comments do not pass the straight face test.

So YES people would say it, just not enough, so I agree with Dannie, it is an overwhelming response and not proven misled by question.
