For years, alcohol and cigarettes have been the "sacred cows" of North Carolina when it comes to finding extra or more money by our legislators. With our state in an economic pinch, nothing should be exempt from taxation.
Even though the "sin taxes" will impact less affluent people, everyone must bere the consequences. I'd rather see more tax on cigarettes than alchol since we're trying to stop young people from smoking and cut down on the number of adults who smoke. And quite possibly reduce health care insurance and have better and more healthful environments.
