Is it right for Apple to smash Macs to bits?

I work for PC's for Kids and I'm sure if something is remotely salvageable or worth something too someone then there will be someone who will buy it/accept it as a donation. This is poor form on Apple Australia's behalf, and they really should be recycling things, smashing screens ... you do know that's illegal by the government law's in Auatralia - we actually petitioned the government about this law because it makes the recycling of CRT monitor's unviable. The government basically turned the 'blind eye'.

So is the Apple "green" inside - I think not.

I don't think someone working in a tip would know much about computers and technology. Sure they might of plugged in one or 2 computers and they 'appeared' to turn on but seriously I don't see a problem here if they want to dump these items. They clearly state that they do not dontate to charaties, there might be good reasons for this... the computers are not complete or in proper working order. The also are in business to SELL computers so if you want an apple you need to buy one. I don't see KFC or McDonalds giving out food that is 2 minutes over their 'shelf life' they throw it all out!!.

There are a number of centres around Australia that specialise in electronic equipment recycling, Apple (Aust) should be looking for a envionmentally- responsible solution.
