Both the producer and consumer have responsibility for control of waste as well as government. We need to have less packaging for most product and that, unfortunately, will only happen when government demands it. Consumers need to take responsibility for the waste when they purchase a product be it fast food or any other product. This does not excuse a retailer from their responsibility to provide waste baskets or encourage reusable containers/baskets. This is a growing trend that needs to be encouraged.
