MEN: how do you feel about “Jump-start Your Novel with Kitty-cats in Action” as a title for a book on writing craft?

Hi Ray, I don't care for that title for a number of reasons. Number one - The use of 'Jump Start'. It's been overused, even for books of writing.
Number two - Does not 'grip' as Wodehouse would say. And that could even be number one :)

Number three - I think as a title it is too long, yes, I know that lots of books have been or are being published with titles as long or longer, but for me the Kitty Cats bit is not there. From that title I would not know what they were all about and it doesn't intrigue me sufficiently to look closer.

Something that tells all -- and while this is simple, it does the job, "Write Your Novel - To The End". Yeah, a bit long based on what I said earlier. :)

If you're going to use kitty cats, you need to take your own advice: hook them with action first:
    "Kitty Cats in Action!
How to Jump Start /Your/ Novel!"

Unfortunately, I know exactly where you're coming from with the title, so I'm a little biased. I don't know how someone not familiar with FtQ would react.

While I find the name catchy in a kitschy kind of way, I'd have a hard time with any book with "Kitty-cats in Action" in the title. I would buy the book, regardless of the title because I know what it is about. But a writer unfamiliar with you website may pass this gem up just because of the name. I think the title would sound more mature and serious with just "Jump Start Your Novel with Cats in Action."

I just don't get it. I read it and I have no idea what it means or why it is the name of a book on writing. Maybe I'm just slow, but that is my initial response. (mainly I'm talking about the "with Kitty-cats in Action" part.
