When exactly did the BBC ruin Doctor Who, its long-running time-travel action-soap-comedy-adventure?

When they introduced the Daleks and violated their own "no monsters" rule.

When the show featured the Voord and inaugurated a series of rubber-suit monsters. (1964)

When the Daleks invaded Earth, despite being DEAD, proving the show didn't care about continuity. (1965)

When they replaced William Hartnell -- the only good Doctor -- and invented this whole regeneration nonsense. (1966)

When the show stopped featuring purely historical adventures. (1966)

It was all over when they introduced the military organization UNIT, and suddenly it was all guns and splodey. (1968)

Sonic screwdriver introduced — suddenly the Doctor has a way out of every situation. (1968)

Showing us the Doctor's home planet totally demystified him forever. It was all over after that. (1969)

Switching to colour was the end. If it was up to me, Doctor Who would still be in black and white. It's classier. (1970)

Introducing the Master, who's such a stereotypical supervillain, and he KEPT showing up. (1971)

Nobody could take the show seriously after the Doctors met each other. (1973)

I was okay with seeing the Doctor's home planet, but not with making fun of his people's decadence. (1976)

The tin dog ruined everything. Seriously. (1977)

They let Tom Baker turn it into an outright comedy, and it was all over. (1978)

"The TARDIS and I are getting rather better at these short hops." Wait, he can steer it now? (1980)

All of a sudden, the Doctor's costume is a Uniform, and it's color coordinated. DO NOT WANT. (1980)

The show violates its tradition of casting an older character actor as the star, by choosing that guy from All Creatures Great And Small. (1981)

When they got rid of the sonic screwdriver, it was all over. (1982)

Allowing another actor to play the First Doctor was the end. You can't take the show seriously after that. (1983)

Colin Baker. Period. (1984)

The fact that I still can't tell what happened in "Trial Of A Time Lord" means everything that happened after that is an alternate reality. Or he's still in the Matrix. (1986)

The show finally subverted the whole idea of "cliffhangers" by having the Doctor actually cimb out on a ledge and then hang over a cliff ON PURPOSE. How can we take it seriously now? (1987)

Ace shows actual character development, totally RUINING the whole point of Doctor Who, which is that the companion is the unchanging mirror the audience can hold on to. RUINED! (1988)

The Doctor is half-human? Is his last name Spock??? At least he's not a snake guy like the Master. (1996)

As soon as we started meeting the companions' mothers, it was all over. (2005)

Psychic paper. Plus they brought back the sonic screwdriver! (2005)

Captain Jack was the last nail in the show's coffin. (2005)

Introducing yet another shadowy organization, Torchwood, totally wrecked the show's last shred of credibility. (2006)

Wait, so Jack is the Face of Boe?? How does he get laid if he's just a big head? This show has finally jumped the giant face. (2007)

Giving the Doctor a "daughter." (2008)

As soon as River Song showed up — and you know she'll be back — I knew it was stick-a-fork-in time. (2008)

Making Matt Smith the Doctor has finally crossed the threshold of lunacy. Who can possibly believe in this show any more? (2009)

Russel T was good at the stories, but everything was spoilt by the lame solutions - Eccleston: Rose evaporates the Daleks...

Taking the show off the air at any time ruins it! The premise is fun. I loved it as a kid and now my kids love it. We're enjoying reruns from WH to the present.

Keep the seasonal story arc going!

Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy were the lowest points in Doctor Who history. It seemed to me the BBC was trying to kill the show. Patterson might have been a better choice for the Doctor. I know David Morrisey would have been. But how did bringing an upstart pretty boy with poor skills to the screen become a good move and special. Would having him prematurely regenerate half way through his tenure because of a bad regeneration save the day. Then with the down turned economy is the 3 to 25 year olds really financially going to be able to afford your products? The Doctor doesn't need to be 35 to 45, just not a poster boy band type. BBC missed doing something special.. is Moffat really in charge, was this Wenger actual promotion of this must be the special part? BBC misses by doing a poor job of promoting Doctor Who in the States as far back as 1978. Now you miss again and will the fans on this side of the pond give more millions to the BBC to fix the poor acting? I see a younger Colin or Sylvester coming to the spot light. Oh God I hope I am over reacting.....I can think of a few dozen women actress' that would have been something really special. Take this as a future theme.. Add an omnipotent being from the Quantum continuum and call it "The Great Manipulator." Oh that would explain how Jack would become the face of Boe. Lord help us as fans.
