The Pickens Plan ought to be an inspiration to us all. It creates the necessary time bride for the full development and deployment of renewable and sustainable fuels for transportation and other energy requirements. What is troubling to me is that we are not hearing from the petroleum companies in relation to the Pickens Plan. Are the oil companies diversifying and channeling their enormous oil profits into the development and deployment of alternative sources of energy? It is time for the big energy companies to get on this bus or get out of the way for our own national security.
As a member of the Pickens Plan I have become very active in this great effort to win America's Energy Independence.
I urge ALL AMERICAN PATRIOTS to join into this effort with what ever skills they can contribute. This WAR will be won with the help from all.
Happy New Year to everyone, let's get out there and make a REAL difference in 2009.
If I could support the Pickens Plan 200% I would. None of our presidents or congress has ever provided an energy plan for the US. In one year, Mr. Pickens, with the help of his army, has not only put forward a plan, he has gone all over the country both to explain and convince others his idea will work. Further, the plan is timely in that it provides Americans with badly needed jobs, uses wind and natural gas, both greener alternatives to petroleum or coal, and helps the country with a major security headache, dependence on foreign oil. Personally, if President-Elect Obama and the Democratic Congress doesn't get behind this plan, there will be trouble from the electorate. While there will be better energy alternatives for the US in the future, our time is NOW and to date, no one else has put forward a viable energy plan besides MR. Pickens.
The Pickens Plan is an example of what used to drive America and made it into a great country-a logical and practical solution which uses our domestic resources and workers to (at least substantially) solve a great problem facing our nation. Unfortunately an idea that is simple and logical is rarely appreciated or acted on by our politicians. Why? Maybe it's as simple as they just don't like the fact that a businessman (an oilman, even worse) has come up with a credible strategy for reducing our dependence on foreign oil that they (both democrats and republicans) have failed for to do for decades. Just kind of makes them look bad. More likely though it is because they are being legally bribed by the corporations and people that stand to lose from it. Great changes always involve the transferring of economic and other forms of power from certain groups of people to others. It is unavoidable when technologies change, etc. But when our elected politicians get most of their campaign financing from corporations and PACs whose job it is to maintain the status quo, it is no wonder that we have not had a real energy strategy in this country for 30+ years. Let's hope that the preview of $147 oil and the prospect of the greatest economic crisis since the Great Depression is enough to wake up our "public servants" to the enormity and urgency of this issue.
I support the wind power and other alternative energy side of The Pickens Plan. We need that across the entire world, not merely in America.
One of the weaknesses of The Pickens Plan is not planning a global outreach; it SOUNDS like an American plan primarily, not a global plan, which it could be.
I support the pickens plan, but I also feel like this is the EXACT same thing that happened in the 70's where everyone wanted to do something, but after gas went back down no one cared anymore. Perhaps with the economic collapse and job losses Obama will use the "infrastructure" spending on something like this instead of the typical, go no where, spending that the government tends to like to do.
Good point, Bo,
I became a member of the Pickens Plan when Gas was going over 4 bucks a gallon. I remember that time in the 70's when everybody went back to their old gas guzzling ways after the crisis was over.
This time is different for me. I intend to pop off like a three minute egg timer telling everybody how we screwed up back then.
Why don't you join us?
steve
If you think that "doing the right thing" is the right thing to do...then of course you'd support "THE PLAN".
Anything like not wanting your house to burn down, not wanting extra sprinkles on your ice cream sundae or hearing birds singing after a morning rain? If you can get through life without feeling or wanting any of the above...then maybe your not ready for the Pickens Plan... But I bet you are!
Pickens is a greedy little whore.
He spent/lost a lot of money trying to develop unsupportable, expensive, unproductive, unsustainable technology and the jerk wants US to bail him out. His propaganda campaign will not persuade me and for all you fools who think this is a great idea, just send the joker a check.
Screw you, T. Boone!
