Shame on NSMT. Replacing a classic with a stupid Disney musical. This would be more appropriate for the spring school break. I think they will lose money on this mistake and deservedly so.
NSMT made a huge mistake. This move pretty much alienated long-time patrons such as us...older, childless/empty nesters who have money to spend on tickets. But we do not want to see, as Fran said above, "a stupid Disney musical" designed for tweens. We've seen "A Christmas Carol" there before, and it's a wonderful production, something that appeals to all audiences, not just families with kids. We would have gone to see it again this year if it were there.
The last time we went to NSMT was on Black Friday night, to see BB King. That show was sold out. The crowd for that show ranged from teenagers to senior citizens. That should prove that as long as they line up shows that people actually want to see, they will sell tickets.
I also have to wonder how much it cost NSMT to license HSM2? It's Disney, it can't be cheap, I'm guessing it is more than what it costs for other shows that would sell more tickets. "A Christmas Carol" is so old, it's probably public domain, so there was probably no licensing fee to stage it.
Very foolish decision on the part of NSMT. I'm gonna miss it. :-(
