I say "Other" because while it does has some awesome spiritual truths in it, it shouldn't be restricted to religious section because it's not preachy at all!
As the author of the series, I wish my books were out in the regular sections of the store. My goal is to get my novels out of the Christian entertainment bubble, and I despise the "religious" classification because my goal is not to be "religious."
Quite the opposite, in fact.
My goal is to tell entertaining tales that deal with life and all its complexities, rather than buying into a simplistic religious viewpoint that negates any need for an actual relationship with God. I believe the Nazarene is real, and that permeates my stories, but they are never meant to be preachy in any way, as the word "religious" might imply.
When I read the question I wasn't reading it in the context of "only being sold in the religious section". I was reading it as thinking some people might be put off looking in the religious section because of the "vampire aspect". I'm almost finished with the book and at first I had a little trouble getting all the characters straight in my mind but, now I'm really enjoying the book and looking forward to the next. As an avid reader I like to read "Christian Fiction" because I know you don't have to deal with the "filth" aspect in so many of the books anymore. I like stories with a science fiction bend to them for lack of a better description, along the lines of Frank Peretti. It's hard to find anything but romance novels. Thank goodness I've found another author. If only you could write as fast as we read.
Eric, great job, it keeps you on the edge of your seat and still puts the Truth right before your eyes, but it shouldn't be limited to the "religious" section. People from all walks of life will enjoy what you've writen.
I think this book should be put into both secular and christian sections. I believe that this book holds within it's pages the power to change lives for the better. Those of us who already know the truth enjoy and are inspired by the story for its' value to our lives as Christians. I do not believe, however, that this should be an exclusively Christian marketed story. This story has the potential to cause others to want to know more about the blood of the Nazarene. We as Christians already know for whom this blood was shed and should understand the impact this act of love has on our life. I believe that those that wouldn't normally read a decidedly Christian book would quite possibly read a new vampire book out of the horror section of the bookstore with no problem given the excitement there seems to be over these types of stories as of late. Regardless of where this book is placed in the book store I will suggest it to my friends and even complete strangers. The story of Gina has made a huge and lasting impact in my life and I am so thankful to have this story as a source of inspiration and encouragement. I pray this series becomes increasingly popular and that the Lord will allow it to be marketed in a way that it reaps the maximum benefit for His kingdom. God bless you Eric you already know that I love this story but I just have to say again....I LOVE THIS STORY!!!!!
