I have a sister that was abused at the age of 5. It was by my father (not her biological father). I saw him abusing her, but could do nothing. I was 4. I was terrified. It effects you your whole life. You never, EVER forget.
The parent that isnt abusing ALWAYS suspects. They just prefer not to know the truth. I will never believe that mother if she says she doesn't know. Does she not do laundry? Does she not bath the girls?
That is HER JOB in life To PROTECT. She FAILED.
What a pointless poll: to find out what other uninformed people THINK about a statistical fact? Why not give the actual figure after we guess? Come on CNN. Poor form.
What makes you think this poll is from those uninformed? I fail to believe anyone doesn't know of someone that has been abused/molested today. I am a Behavioral Health Professional and the people that come in the door with mental illness NOT abused or molested is a very tiny minority. Often they block it out of their mind for years but unfortunately it always always affects them. So, I think the poll is right on!
