Hard to beat "the fundamentals of our economy are strong"

What? Where's "The fundamentals of our economy are strong?"

McCain's "Make it a hundred," utterance in reference to the duration of the U.S. occupation of Iraq does not count as a major Republican gaffe in 2008? I consider it the GOP gaffe of this decade so far.

"The fundamentals of the economy are strong." No contest.

I agree that "The fundamentals of the economy are strong" is the gaffe of the year, but "Nation of whiners" is a strong runner up.

No way these are the top gaffes. Not even close. There's Sarah Palin's sitdowns, fundamentals are strong-McCain, Phil Gramm's nation of whiners, McCain suspending his campaign, the list just goes on. None of the one's listed even comes close. And who the fuck even remembers Tommy Thompson?

Holy cow,Marc. You blew this one. I agree with "dragnet," especially his/her lol comment about Tommy Thompson. What a hoot. And how about Rudy Giuliani's condescending comment - and grin - regarding "community organizers?"

The McCain Baghdad gaffe occurred in 2007 (April). But on his 2008 trip to Iraq, McCain confused Sunnis and Shiites, requiring Joe Lieberman to whisper in his ear to fix it.
