Hi David,
Are there any new medications that will help a patient who is further along in LBD? My husband cries easily. And I find it difficult to leave him when he is clinging like a child. I love him dearly, and hate to see him hurting. What can ease separation anxiety? He is already taking Zoloft.
Thanks so much for your blog.

Hi Imogene...........First, I appreciate your postings on the list and the comments you make on the blog. You are helpful and a precious person!
I'm sure you are already on top of all the meds available out there for LBD and other dementias. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of them so it doesn't take a lot to keep up on the 'cutting edge.' Zoloft is good for anxiety.
Crying seems to be a common symptom of dementia and strokes. And it isn't always from depression. Emotional changes occur quickly because of the damage to the part of the brain which control feelings, emotions, etc. It breaks my heart to see him suffering too. Many times there isn't a magic drug to help sep anxiety. I just did a google search on "eparation anxiety treatment" and it came up with some really good sites. Most of them pertain to kids but the same principles work.
Hope this helps..........David
