met a really nice guy. we went for dinner after one week. the day after he came and spent time at my house. the week after we had sex. i didnt want to have it so early but i was weak. four days after it happened, i called him up and told him it was over. i knew this was not going to be the way to get a guy to respect me and view me as his potential future wife. so i cut it off before it became all about sex. on this occassion, i let myself down and i knew as it (the sex) was happening that any hope of a real relationship was due to be over before it had even begun.

sometimes us ladies need to take responsibility for our actions too. we know deep down that in meeting a guy, he had to be sexually attracted in the beginning. if we dont give him a chance to be emotionally attracted as well, before we give him sex, the thing which first held him (the lust) will be gone and there will be nothing to fall back upon afterwards. whereas had we waited and built that emotional side up, the sex would have had a minor part to play in a potentially great thing between two people. if the guy cannot wait, he wasnt worth it in the first place. he would have left straight after once giving it up.

After looking at these results and seeing over half had sex within two months, and we still wonder why the divorce rate is so high??!! I think women have become way way way too EASY! Ladies, guys are ass holes and will take advantage. Here's an idea, how about making him wait until you can know for sure that you are at least in a commited relationship? I've seen too many women hurt in this world by men just wanting to get laid. So screw you guys who just want some bootay!! And stay strong ladies, believe and know that you are worth it!!!

My fiance and I met at a local rock concert. He happened to have made friends with my younger sister the month before while I was in Germany, so she let me know that he was a nice guy, contrary to my first impression of him. We started dating in October and waited three months to have sex, even though we were both having a hard time controlling ourselves. He was 18, I was 17, and we were both virgins. We've been together for a little over two years and just got engaged on Christmas!

In the 70's and 80's, a first date and sex used to be normal, no big deal. Once the AIDS epidemic hit the scene, the exciting times ended. Before then, STD's were curable and no one died from having sex. Today, dating a person for a long time without knowing if you're sexually compatible could lead to disappointment and boredom. Safe sex is not only practical, it can save your life. My girlfriend and myself are a mature couple. Though we met (through her sister) on the phone 6 mos. earlier, we met and went for the jugular right away. I believe it was on our second date. We've been together for 5 years. Younger couples have too many issues and instant sex usually kills the relationship. Physical sex versus deep, emotional love-making is completely different. Younger couples usually lack the maturity to know the difference, thus, it may be worth waiting a while.

My wife and I met at work in August. We first went out on a date early in September, about 2 wks later. After 1 week of dating we slept together. She moved in sometime mid-october. We have been married for 8 1/2 years and have 2 beautiful girls. Everything clicked and we both knew that we were the right ones for each other.

My boyfriend and I waited three weeks but were inseparable during that time, and slept in the same bed almost every night, just sleeping, or talking. By the end of the three weeks we knew a lot about each other, and we already knew we had something really special. We've been together a year now... and we've never looked back!

This depends on which relationship and when. I personally never went for "one night stands". Between the two women I really fell in love with, one was 6 months (ouch! but I wanted to show her I respected her, the other one was 3 weeks-our connection was so strong and animalistic, I waited a week longer than she wanted! In both cases, after 5 and 6 years respectively, I would say the downfall was lack of 'communication'-not on my part as a man, but as the women I chose felt that 'problems should work themselves out in a good relationship, why discuss them at length?' I have now learned to give space where needed and not head straight for the solution. Still single though.

my husband and i met online in may of this year. we talked on the phone and over the internet for 4 weeks before we met, but the moment we met we just clicked. it was over that first night and has been on every night (almost) since. we are expecting a daughter in March.

my husband and i dated for 2 years, were engaged for a year and a half and made love the night after our wedding night! why the wait? b/c we were sooo tired from partying at the reception we wanted our first time to be aware and attentive to every detail! holding each other as husband and wife and falling to sleep in each other's arms was amazing! sooo that would make our total...3 years...temptation was a killer but we maintained...untainted!

My guy and I met online and talked for about 3 weeks before meeting. We met online in August and dint actually make the decision to sleep together until October. So we waited 2 months. It was well worth the wait.

Again, My guy and I met in December, it was August before we "officially" started dating and slept together the next week. So is it 8 months or 1 week?

  • Rachel - 15 years ago

My boyfriend and i waited a year and a half, we were both virgins and i was 14 when we met so i wasn't totally ready for all the emotional stuff that follows. He was patient and we were both smart about it and we'll be getting married next year!
