I think this question is flawed, at least given the source discussion of CLI vs. GUI. The question SHOULD be "CLI is better than using a gooey".

The only reason I voted "Busted" is because Telnet is almost NEVER an acceptable connection protocol, especially for management. Telnet should be disabled in favor of SSH v2. In that case, I agree with

If the original question referenced the CLI, which could mean either, I would have voted "Confirmed".

Mike's comments from a security perspective are true. I however believe that both Telnet and GUI as an interface to Network devices have their place. It is all dependent on the requirement. There are many things that can be done quickly via a GUI, however there are instances where you need the CLI. For instance I have yet to find any GUI that provides sufficient information with regards to the state of Spanning Tree on a Network. This today can only be found via the CLI. If GUI's were advanced enough to provide all the required information and Visualization capabilities then one would not need to use CLI. I suspect however that it will still boil down to the persons preference at the end of the day.
