As of this morning, Dave Ward of Archbishop Murphy has overtaken the other candidates in the voting. Ward now has five more votes than the No. 2 vote-getter, Marysville-Pilchuck's Brandon Carson.
To those who have already voted and others who will still vote: Why do you think the coach you picked is worthy of being called the All-Area Football Coach of the Year? Share your comments.
Here are some of the coaches' achievements: Carson guided M-P to its first league title since 1975. ... Ward took over at Archbishop Murphy for program founder Terry Ennis and has taken the unbeaten Wildcats to the Class 2A semifinals. ... Arlington's Greg Dailer took over an Eagles team that returned just two starters. He implemented a new offense and helped Arlington go 6-4. ... Glacier Peak's Rory Rosenbach started a new program with no seniors and took the pass-happy Grizzlies to the 3A playoffs.
