Under different circumstances, I would have said they deserve it, but because of the current state of the economy, I say no. The only way I would change my mind is if our financial state gets a HUGE boost in 2009 and there are finally enough jobs for those of us who have recently been laid off!
Mr. Williams and the other Council members ran for the public office and they all knew what the jobs paid! If they are dissatisfied with the pay, they have the freedom to resign and come to think of it, this might not be a bad idea.
How can they vote them selves a raise when the city workers wages have been froze for 2 years, and they have no idea when they might get a quarter raise, this is not right.
if council gets a raise what about all of the other city workers and officials and on top of that what about people getting laid off and losing their jobs because of the economy-- i'm not saying that you don't deserve a raise but do not assume a position and automatically ask for more money--
