Which sentence is incorrect?

  • Well to me Martial Arts means respect and discipline. I have trained in
different Martial arts now for well over 15 years.
I have seen quite a lot of people stick around
but one more thing that I have noticed is the respect and discipline which has
changed those peoples perception of life.
Little ones that have started that are now on the wrong side of
the tracks, always in trouble and no idea how to respect other kids.
Place them in a controlled environment with discipline and fighting
and they soon start to understand.
Martial arts is one method for infants and adults to get rid
of their aggression without hurting or bullying anyone.

Yup, I didn't read the question properly either! I agree with Oma and for the same reasons.

Yeah, your word in question is trying to describe how she "drove". "Fast" is an adjective, so you can say "fast car" or "she was fast" but not "drove fast". In the same way, you can't say "she was quickly" or "quickly car". lol. But things that are commonly used are sort of accepted, except by sticklers for the rules.

The one that annoys me lately is people's tendency to say "there's the keys" or "there's the flowers" instead of "there are...". I'm afraid I'm a bit of a stickler. Sigh.

Oh shoot. I messed it up too. I don't think you'll be able to draw any conclusions from this poll since it seems that most of us don't read instructions properly (myself included).

    I read the question correctly.

I answered incorrectly too now that Oma pointed it out. I think the sentence using "quickly" is correct. Looking at the poll results I think you might need to have a do over as it looks as though others might not have read the directions properly either.

I think I answered your poll question as if it had been written "Which sentence is correct?" ... which would have been the correct way to pose a poll question ... unless you are trying to fudge the results ... as politicians like to do.

Fast is an adjective when describing speed. Adjectives modify or describe nouns.

His speed was far too fast for the road conditions. Fast modifies the noun speed.

Quickly is an adverb. Adverbs modify verbs, adjectives and other adverbs.

He was driving quickly. Quickly modifies the verb "was driving".

However, to confuse the issue, we all say that someone drove too fast and we are comfortable with "She drove faster than she should have."

It is not worth fighting over.

I, by the way, do not remember the clothing colours just the continual misspelling of the word "beige". I no longer care what I wear and certainly not what you wear. In fact I am relatively unconcerned about grammatical errors ... most of the time. But I am glad you know how to spell beige.
