I love the book series by Stephenie Meyer, but my expectations for the movie were too high and I left disappointed. The actors were great, and they stayed true to the basics of the book, but way too much stuff was left out. The documentary camera angles were odd, and almost all of the shots were close-ups. I didn't like the style at all. There was no presence of time in the movie, it all seemed to happen in just a few days. To much attention was centered on the conflict with James and the build up of the relationship of Bella and Edward suffered for it. The music in the movie was good though, especially during the baseball scene. The CGI used to make Edward "sparkle" was just horrible, and the "sparkly" sound effect only made it worse. The movie needed to rethink its focus, change its style, and it needed to be longer to allow the characters and their relationships to develop. The book is definitely better, but it was still interesting to see the characters come to life on the big screen. Don't despair, there are several humorous scenes. Overall, the movie had some flaws, and if you are a fan of the books, you'll more than likely be disappointed by the movie.

The actors did a wonderful job. However I agree with most they focused to much on James. The stroy is about Bella and Edward and the time they took to add more about James they could have given more of the couples and the families story line. Maybe they felt they need to build up the danger behind James but vampires have been around for a lond time. Through all the descriptions and stories told they need no introduction as to waht their capable of. The movie is GOOD! for what its worth but the focus does need to be more about him and her. The book was wrote through her eyes and thats what made it more interesting we new when she new, we saw what she saw and heard her thoughts so it should have been kept that way. Yes it was good and I agree if you read the book the jokes are funnier, you connect more. The actors were indeed excellent Rob Pattinson made the character of Edward become even more real to me and if I could thank him I would. Kristen was good to and all the others truely did bring it to life. So if they do create New Moon perhaps they'll stick more to the story itself this time.

I have to agree that there was too much focus on the character James and alot of the interaction between the Cullens and Bella were left out. Emmet is a great character and the humor between Edward and Bella and his vampire brother and sister vampire Alice. There were two characters that supported Edward and Bella and there was nothing on that. I also agree that the camera angles were odd, I just do not explain it but I felt like it was being shot with a regular camera. Rob Patterson was true to the character of Edward but I feel that the actress that playes Bella did not protray her character to the full extent as Bella felt breathless everytime Edward spoke to her or I image her body tense and her eyes to be hypotize with astonsihment. I would definetly love to see the sequel but there should be more time invested to the true nature of the story while adding the mystery of the suspense of the unknown of the mystical creatures in the book.

I felt that the movie was totally different the book. The storyline was basically the same but none of the scenes match the book! The acting was ok I do not fell the actress that played Bella potrayed her at all! I laughed through most of the movie. The meadow scene was nothing at all like the book! The car accident was nothing like the book! The beach trip to La Push was nothing like the book! The baseball scene was similar but yet to different from the book! I wish the movie scenes were more true to the book scenes! There was no tree climbing no Bella and Chief Swan going out to eat all the time! Bella only first meat Jacob at La Push! I hope the next movie is more true to the book than this was!

I personaly feel that the movie was GREAT, and so did my friends!!! I have read all the books and I feel the movie was good because it brought the characters from the book to life on the movie screen. I am now going to go reread the books!!!! Oh and sure they couldnt put EVERYTHING on the movie because it would take to long, I do know theres going to be a second!!!!! So cant wait:)

I thought that the movie was GREAT! i took my husband that has never read the books and now he is wanting to read them. I think that David pattinson did a great job playing Edward. I can not wait until the other movies come out,i hope that they will be out soon. i think the movie did a great job following the book unlike most movies based off of books.. i give the movie an A+.

I think that Twilight as a book was simply amazing, but when put in the movie, the focus was skewed, which in turn led to not as good a movie. I still love the movie, just because I love the basic idea of Twilight, but I agree that if I had not read the books beforehand, the movie would have been disorienting and confusing. The book had a nice spacing of events so that in the end, the storyline was evenly paced; however the movie seemed to focus too much on individual, unnecissary scenes, where more of the book's plot could have been placed. Many argue that the book was too long to be made into only a 2 hour movie, but I think that much of the book was descriptions which could have been shown in the movie, rather than described, and would have taken close to the same amount of time. All in all, I think that the movie was a little lacking (possibly not so good for people who haven't read the book(s)) but I think that the movie got the basic plot of the book.

my 20 yr. old daughter & i went to see twilight,i thought the movie was great. my daughter has read all the books & said the book was much better but she still loved the movie. so next time stick to the book more. we look forward to seeing the other books made into movies. i don't think they could have picked any better actors & actress to play the parts. please keep the sme actors & actress for the rest of movies. they are so much better with the original characters. great job.

If you didn't read the books, you missed the best part. They concentrated too much on James and not enough on the rest of the story. The actors were terrific and the scenery was fabulous, but the story needed more work.

I also agree that there was too much emphasis on James and the baddies at the expense of building Edward and Bella's relationship and on the Cullen family. But what was there, was terrific. For such young actors, the chemistry between Pattinson and Stewart was red hot and I thought their portrayals were perfect. These were two very internalized performances and in this day and age when EVERYTHING has got to be spelled out, alot couldn't comprehend what these actors were attempting. They nailed it. The film had a gorgeous, lush look to it and the score was terrific, especially Pattinson's second song near the end. For the miniscule budget she had, I think Catharine Hardwicke did a wonderful job. The big surprise for me was Taylor Lautner. I thought he was completely miscast as Jacob, but I just loved his portrayal. But Robert Pattinson is the star. No doubt. Depending on the choices he makes from here on out, he should have an amazing career. For all the criticism this has received, keep in mind that Time, The Washington Post, Entertainment Weekly and Roger Ebert all gave it good reviews. And those are some of the most respected critics in the country.

I have read all the books including the 12 chapter book online in Edward's point of view. I love these books and will probably read them again over the Christmas Holiday while I am off work. However, even though I loved the movie personally I can see if you hadn't read the book before hand you where a little lost in the movie. That is really too bad because for the first time in a long time these books are actually something that you can read without all the sex that to me gets in the way of the story line because you are always wondering when "that" is going to happen again. For those who haven't read all the books please do because that is the way that it is meant to go. If you just read the 1st you never really see what it is that is trying to be said by all the characters not just Bella and Edward. Out of all the books the 4th is my favorite. I personally can not wait till the rest of them come out in movie form like the 1st one I will be there with bells on. I love the characters that they picked to portray them. At first I wasn't sure about Edward because in my mind I had someone much better looking but it all worked out in the movie there is something about his attitude that made it work. Good luck on the rest of the movies and I am looking forward to going to see them all. This may be one of those times when I actually buy a DVD.

i actually think twilight was awesome the only thing that i think is that some parts that were in the movie weren't mention in the book which is sort of not ok for examplethey never went on a feild trip and something else in the book it mentions it was a spring fling and eric, and tyller as bella to the spring fling but other than that i think the movie was awesome i hope the new moon will be great to bad edward will only be in a few scences of the movie because the story acutally focus on jacob and bella but i will always love twilight

I LOVE TWILIGHT<3

now, we will observe what effects certain words have on this person:

"Bella Swan" *BLLLLEEEEEEHHHHHHHH* oh god. "Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen" *throws up again* please, make it stop!!! "Twilight (uh oh) Movie" .....

I'm sorry, but this comment could not be finished by the author. She died from repeated bleeding from the eyes and head trauma. Oh yes, and a self-inflicted knife wound. This was most likely caused by the fact that there are people out there who put "Twilight movie" and "good" in the same sentence, referring to each other.
