I think it would be very hard to prove if the virus was passed with intent, even if this would be the case. most people get infected by people whom themselves are not aware that they are infected. In this case, I'm not too sure as to what the charges laid against the one partner would be. Whatever they would be, I think they would not really stand unless the person who infected the other one knew their status, and whichever testing station that they went to for a test can prove that they made them aware, and they still went out and did not use protection when they engaged in a sexual encounter

I took the survey with the mindset that I was not knowingly engaging in sexual activity with an HIV/AIDS infected person. Personally, I believe two people should get a full STD screening when entering a relationship. This way, both parties start out with a full disclosure of their STD status and can make a good faith decision to enter into the relationship.

Once the relationship is entered into I believe there is still some due diligence required on both partners, as far as continuing to get screened. However, I am torn about the idea of continuing to get screened. On one hand, if you enter a relationship and agree that it will be an open one, then yes the screening should definitely continue. On the other hand, if you enter into a committed monogamous relationship the concept of continuing screening may appear as distrust in the relationship.

With all this said, if you choose to enter a committed/monogamous relationship and later decide to stray or modify the terms of the relationship you must disclose the new terms and get approval from your partner first. If you don’t, I think you should be held accountable for the actions you have decided to take and be liable for the risks you’ve exposed your partner.
